Item and skills setup

The purpouse is most of the time NOT to focus on damage buffs like Focus&Restraint in combination with charging (not my favorite skill at all and annoying cooldown while not hitting all mobs) or taking care of Convention of Elements rotation. Simply spin around, with Furnace, Stone of Jordan and Bane of the Powerful you will have a flat 95% damage boost against every elite and boss - that is huge and fairly enough. Trash will die anyway, if larger mobgroups are appearing then area damage will take care of. Use Threatening Shout and hopefully up-most-of-the-time Wrath of the Berserker - it is going to give you another +75% damage, elites are going to melt in an instant.

No need for Pain Enhancer or Gogok - you are simply too fast in speed AND killing for gaining Pain Enhancer bleeding AS stacks or using high attack speed effectively.

Secondaries: of course single element resistance, and as optimization for speedruns stack pickup radius whereever you can

Hellfire passive: Nerves of Steel (i.e. one death for free, helped me not loosing stacked xp pools)

Gems: Diamonds everywhere in chest, helm and legs. Toughness as well as CDR are important, e.g. a Lvl1 blank barb will do more damage than a dead P800+ barbarian. Use Emeralds on both weapons.

Why not War Cry with 30% Dodge Chance? -> You are too fast, you will have more issues with fire, poison, lightning etc. puddles, mobs are unlikely to hit you critically.

Why not stacking area damage on gloves and shoulders? -> CDR is more important up here for getting Wrath of the Berserker most of the time. With paragon AD and both AD on weapons you will have 98% AD, thats enough for being effective on larger groups. This is no push build.

Why Lightning Damage and WW rune Wind Shear? Marathon will take a lot of Fury, therefore you need a decent source of regeneration. Bul Kathos weapons will not be enough, Hexing Pants also not viable. Tried different variations, this one was the best and I did not want to sacrifce any passives for fury regen.

Bounty and grift varation: see playstyle explanations below, additional gamplay vid Grift lvl 70 2:30min see here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae6wmVplMss

Variation for higher paragons (approx. 1000+): swap Bane of Powerful for Boon of the Hoarder

The usual suspects: invest in movement speed, survival and cooldown reduction first and with growing paragon add damage attributes. 50% Area Damage on Utility Tab is recommended first, Whirlwind profits strongly from AD.

Build Guide

Playstyle

Speed, speed, speed - spin around and kill what is in your speedway.

This is a mid-season build, i had no problems starting at paragon 650 for using this build effectively without further problems. See item setup above for detailed description of item and skill synergy, some ancient items and maybe already augmented weapons should be available at this point of time. My gear is semi-brilliant, but fairly enough. Here are some general playstyle hints:

  • 170% Movement speed comes from 25% MS Paragon + 40% Belt (in combination with War Cry) + 40% Marathon Spring + 45% Bul-Kathos weapons (while "whirlwinding") + 20% Berserker. Keep an eye on speed bonuses, i.,e. every 10 secs for War Cry, every 4 secs for Marathon
  • At the beginning of the (g)rift: kill some trash first and gain stacks on Rampage to max 25 as well as 10 stacks of Taeguk, than you will be tough and strong enough to rush into the first elite group (otherwise without any protection and with wicked elite affixes combination you are likely going down)
  • On elites use Threatening Shout and be "Berserker ready"
  • If you obtain speed pylons - I reccomend not to use War Cry anymore - you are going to lose control. It seems like becomming too fast and you are not going to hit mobs. And if War Cry is not used the Obsidian Ring of Zodiac cooldown procs will autmatically be used for Wrath of the Berserker CDR
  • Good synergy in T13 speed key faming groups: movement speed and damage for all party members

  • Grift variation: depends on your paragon toughness, I would use Ignore Pain instead of Marathon, for my char needed maybe at 75+. Rest is still the same <-- see Grift lvl 70 vid here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae6wmVplMss
  • Bounty variation: swap Nemesis Bracers with Warzechian (no need for further Elites during speed bounties), your movement speed will go through the roof (also use Boan of Hoarder instead of BoP if enough paragon, in addition with a speed pylon AND Warzechian you will fly through the map)
