So I'll start out by saying that the point of this build is to be able to roll through and force the mobs to come to you and kill themselves. No need to spend time chasing them down. Keep that in mind when choosing gear and stats. You'll need to be tanky.
Preferred stats:
1. Thorns
2. Increase Gold and Health Pickup Radius
3. Tank stats. (Armor, Resistances, Life, etc)
Gear reasoning:
- [Main Set] - Inarius
- This is required for two major reasons. One, you need the damage reduction that bone armor brings. Two, the damage bonus that bone armor brings. Not much else to say there.
- [Secondary Armor] - Demon's Hide / Sanguinary Bracers
- This is a torns build. It's pretty obvious why you need this.
- [Amulet] - Wisdom of Kalan
- Damage reduction is pretty key. The more stacks of Bone Armor, the harder you are to kill.
- [Ring 1] - Ring of Royal Grandeur
- This allows you to use both the Inarius set and Demon's Hide sets together. It's replaceable if you ditch Demon's Hide.
- [Shield / Ring 2] - Stormshield / Justice Lantern
- I've toyed around with a bunch of different shields, but the melee damage reduction of this shield is what has kept me using it for quite a while. I found I survive quite a bit longer because of it. The ring is fairly obvious I think. You need damage reduction anywhere you can get it.
- [Weapon] - Hack + Yellow Gem
- I feel the weapon in this build could be changed out for whatever one prefers. The reason I've started using Hack lately is because it allows my Grim Scythe to be fairly deadly. Without ancient gear I'm at about 140k thorns and I'm killing normal mobs in torment 11 with a few swipes.

This really is personal preference. I prefer to be able to move fast, hit fast, and not take as much damage as possible. This is a tank build after all.
Build Guide
There are a lot of variations to this build and I've tried most of them. They are all fun, but this one I liked the most. If you want to add pets, or change stuff... go for it. It's why I like this build so much, because it's so flexible. If you do decide to change skills, Corpse Lance and Land of the Dead are the skills to get rid of and use whatever you prefer.
I'm not going to spend a lot of time describing why this build does what it does. Looking at the skills, it becomes fairly obvious. This is a tank/thorns build, when you get right down to it. The real fun comes with turning the frailty aura into a way to pull mobs into you. It's pretty much a faceroll after that.
The reason why I call it the Dyson Spiky Ball is because when ever I play, I feel like a deadly vacuum cleaner. Without ancient upgrades and only having level 25 legendary gems, I'm able to solo Torment 13 slowly. I can roll Torment 11 without issue. I suspect as I keep upping my stats, Torment 13 will fall easily.
How to play this build:
- Get Bone Armor to 15 stacks.
- Run around and collect groups of mobs using Frailty Aura (because of Briggs' Wrath).
- Swipe groups with Grim Scythe to further curse the group and to cause them to attack you (because of Boyarsky's Chip).
- Clean up with Death Nova.
- Kill bosses with Land of the Dead + Corpse Lance.
Have you tried the Spear of Jairo with this build? Did it perform better or worse than the Trag's/Hack combo?
I have. I found it was similar in damage when it comes to using Grim Scythe. The loss of damage for using Spear of Jairo instead of Trag's was when using Death (Bone) Nova, and Corpse Lance. Honestly, I think it's really pretty interchangeable, depending on your preference, really.
Edit: I should have been a bit more clear in my response. The biggest reason I like Trag over Spear is that Trag is a better bonus during rift guardians and such, since you typically have less mobs around to boost Spear during those times.
I've considered using Hack as my Kanai, Trag as my main hand, then changing my Swift Harvesting to Dark Reaping, and see what my regen would end up being. But, I haven't come across a Trag'Ouls that is all that decent. Once I do, I will give it a try.
Yeah, I could see how RGs without adds could be a serious pain, even when Sanguinary procs.
Also, I really like the addition of Briggs' Wrath to pull enemies in for a Thorns build. I don't know how I missed that when I was thinking of a setup similar to this.
Brigg's Wrath really makes the build. You'll love using it.
One option I tried for a while that was fun was an Avarice Band socketed with Boon of the Hoarder. Gold would be everywhere and the radius of Frailty was massive. Even the annoying succubi couldn't get away. It was a fun way to play, but I took quite a hit in survivability to do it so I had to switch back to the Justice Lantern.
if u want more tank power , why dont u use aquila + dante belt combo ? this is interesting to me :3 how far ahve u tried with this one in gr ? have u try it on t 13 ?
I suppose if you wanted more tank power, you could do that combo. My goal with the gear above was to balance tank with offense, but if you needed to be more beefy, I could see that trade out.
Without ancient upgrades and only having level 25 legendary gems, I'm able to solo Torment 13 slowly. I can roll Torment 11 without issue. I suspect as I keep upping my stats, Torment 13 will fall easily.
thnx for ur answer bfr . another question :3 have u try using krysbin ring on this build ? is it working on thorn build or no ?
I haven't tried it, no. I could see it working pretty well if you gemmed it with a Bane of the Trapped gem. If you switched out the Demon's Hide set, added more Inarius and dropped the Ring of Royal Grandeur, then you could do it. You'd lose some thorns, but the damage increase might offset it pretty well. I haven't had Krysbin ever drop for me (it's kind of my white whale), so I haven't been able to try it.
thnx 4 ur answer :3
Dropped a Heart of Iron and Hack on my necro, but can't get the build to work, not enough damage, and get killed really easily. Is the Demon set really worth it if you have a high rank chip and some thorns rolls on gear?
Also, I read somewhere thorns don't get boosted by Inarius 6set bonus, and that Hack is not really triggering either with bone-ado.
I really want this to work!
I'm not sure why you're getting hurt, since I'm not sure what all you're sporting as far as gear. But, here's my current setup as of Oct 12, 2017. Hopefully it helps you figure out what's up.

And to answer your question, the Demon set can easily be swapped out with something else. It's part of why I really like this build, because it has a lot of different options. No one way is the right way. Do what works for you.
