Build Guide
Disclaimer: This build is completly different from all the other builds here and uses some unique mechanics. The gameplay is very smooth and easy but requires practice first. Please read carefully, watch the video closely and make sure you understand how the build works. For clearing grift 100 you will need ~2.000.000+ screen dps.
2.6.1: From my first testings this setup will remain one of the best Rathma solo builds in 2.6.1 and got even better because of some Skeleton Mage bug fixes and the 6p Rathma buff from 2.500% to 4.000%. In 2.6.0 we saw GR106 clears on EU with only ~1300 paragon, so with a 60% buff (2.400to4.000) GR110+ could be easily doable with para 2000+. I will test other setups this weekend.
About the build:
- Smooth and easy to play real summoner build.
- incredible strong for high level group/solo speedgrifts and also very good for solo pushing
- permanent 10 powerful singularity mages
- Massive essence generation (bone spikes-> reilenas shadowhook + globes-> reapers + corpes->devour) results in extremly strong singularity mages.
- No bonearmor and curses because its a pain to cast them with mage on autocast and you dont need them.
- Pets will block all incoming dmg, if you dont skip monster.
Gameplay:
- singularity mage on autocast (numlock trick! remember: numlock trick only casts, while you dont hold/hit a button)
- Devour on autocast (numlock trick!). Get used to cast in manually because most of the time you will hold a button to reg essence.
- Left klick to stun+generate essence. Try to hit as much monster as possible because thanks to Reilenas Shadowhhok you gain more essence per enemy hit.
- Use command skeletons to proc Jess 400% bonus. You need to activate it once and it will keep going until there are no enemys left on the screen. Pay attantion to the voice of the charge. Hold a button to walk or bone spike to gather enougn essence for initial cast. Use it also to fokus fire / freeze dangerous targets like ghost or jumpers.
- If you have 10 mages, dont leftKLICK, hold leftklick to break autocast on mage and regen to full essence for more powerfull mages (read singularity rune, more essence spent means more dmg per mage).
- Dont skip monsters for density, its called facerool for a reason. Just stand behind and let your mages tear through everything. Again: KILL ALL THE MONSTERS or you will die.
- Hit land of the dead + simulacrum if there is high density/elitepack(s) or danger (massive dmg increase and crazy health regen). This is pure Armageddon and your mages will nearly oneshot Yellows at 90++. Hold the mouse and spam devour manually, to generate globes/essence and get full 600+ essence mages.
- The time from the buff on devour [satiated] stacks, so its a permanent 50% life bonus (but is additive with other life%).
- Zei's counts distance from player to monsters (not pet to monsters)
Autocast / Numlocktrick:
- how to numlock by quin69: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaAI8s8rft4&t=
- if numlocking 2 spells doenst work for you, try mage on button 2 and devour on button 4
- if this doesnt work also, put mage on autocast and hit devour manually (or use aura)
- you can break autocast by press enter (chatmode) if you need to rez/identify/townportal
- you can break autocast by holding a key (hold leftklick till essence is full)
- while hitting land of the dead+simulacrum: hold mousklick to walk, spam devour manually (because holding breaks autocast), gather globes and stop holding mousklick to summon powerful mages.
Haunted Visions + CoE
- Haunted Visions + CoE instead of endless walk seems to be a solid / equal choice. Especially in season take whatever is better rolled.
- The approach can also a little bit different here. Get some more CDR and use Simu always when ready, your goal is to get high simu uptime to clear also trash faster. Safe LotD for elitepacks.
About facerolling, fishing and pushing
- People who say its a fishy, glassy setup are just bad at this game and dont understand how the builds works. When you are pushing to your personal grift limit, no build is actually "facerolling" because if you could facerolling this griftlevel, this wouldnet be your limit.
- Its also not more fishy than other builds, most builds need one of the open maps with high density but without ranged mobs (+good pylons). Corpselance need many yellows. For my build any map oder mobs can work, ranged mobs are really no problem, only those jumpers can be difficult, if there are too much of them.
- The term "facerolling" is also referring to the originally idea of the build, to create an easy to play but strong mage build without getting cancer from spamming the mage button. Gameplay is very smooth, just use leftklick, sometimes command skeletons and a little bit devour, nuke elitepacks with simu+lotd. Stay behind. Eazy.
- Just 5-10 griftlevels below your max, it will facerolling everything because mage tear trough everything the moment it appears on the screen. It also clears whole t13 maps at an insane speeed while you just run and loot.
For T13 rifts:
- switch compass rose to avarice band (or cube it and wear the other 2 rings)
- goldwrap belt
- boon of the hoarder
- Fueled by death passive is bugged, so avoid it. Take this when its fixed (from finale service or overwhelming essence)
- If your gear is really good and dmg is over the top, also change Jesseths to Reilenas Shadowhook, cube in-geom (and nemesis) and change command skeletons to bloodrush

Are you able to make a video how you do it? very interesting in this build
This build has so many flaws it's unreal. Not recommended.
works nice
GR 95+?
This build has 0 defense other than prevent death passive and hoping to stun things til they die. I guess this is possible with getting very lucky rifts, but if you get hit with anything you are fucked. I am playing a similar build but with Decrepify and the belt, along with bone armor for added toughness. I can still die like a bitch if I dont get something cursed before it jumps on me or instant spell damage.
This build works great! I only have like 2 ancient items with not that great rolls and I managed to clear a 70 gr, so I can see it being able to go far with better items. One thing, instead of using the numlock trick, I prefer to use AutoHotKey. Here's a script I wrote to accomplish the numlock trick:
To use the script, install the program called AutoHotKey, then save the script text below (between the lines of dashes) into a notepad file, then save the file as a .ahk file (don't save it as a text file). Then go to the location you saved the script to and double click it to run it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F11::
$stop := 0
Loop,
{
if(GetKeyState("LButton","P"))
{
KeyWait, LButton, U
}
else
freq:=100
Send 2
Sleep %freq%
Send 3
Sleep %freq%
Send 1
Sleep %freq%
if ($stop)
{
return
}
}
F12:: $stop := 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically, I use the F11 key to start the script, and the F12 key to stop the script.
While the script is running, it waits until the left mouse button is unpressed before executing the button presses for your skills. I did this so that I could run around smoothly by holding my left mouse button, without the skills being constantly cast and interrupting my walking, making the walking stuttered and annoying.
I have my Command Skeletons ability set to key 1, Skeletal Mage ability set to key 2, and Devour ability set to key 3.
When the script is running, and my left mouse button is unpressed, the script will first try to cast Skeletal Mage, then Devour, and then Command Skeletons, waiting 100 milliseconds between each ability cast. I found this was a good balance of keeping my Skeletal Mages up to the max of 10 almost always, as well as keeping my Skeletons commanded to increase damage.
Basically, the only thing you have to worry about is dodging enemy attacks, and casting Bone Spikes and Land of the Dead. This build is a complete cakewalk and the laziest build I've probably ever played - I love it!
I wouldn't use autocast for mages. You are wasting the singularity rune if you do so. I play a LoN version of this for just GR70 and some light T13 and you need to wait for your essence to be full before deploying a set of mages, you are losing major damage by spamming it. I have not tried this set yet (Rathma) but from what ive seen the only decent set is inarius right now. They need to make some changes, like on Rathma mages should last forever, it is the mage set and you only briefly reach the mage cap with all the mage buffs and items (mage ring)
I might try a similar version of this build when i get the set so thanks for posting. Glad to see more pet necro action
A couple of comments.
First of all i am very happy that Rathma is somewhat alive and builds are coming out as well!
Second: AHK can get you banned easily. numlock trick is not. So i do not recommend messing with AHK.
And the last: I like powerful builds myself and overall enjoy the idea behind this setup, but this build will hit a wall very fast, simply because there is no toughness. There is recovery through corpses, but otherwise it's a pure glass cannon. I would not even call it faceroll really. It's more like "i have to kill or i die". Faceroll is when you kill everything on sight without even watching where you step. With this build, however, every single hit from anything will make you dead instantly. Most players will find such gameplay beyond frustrating because they can't really go anywhere without killing what's ahead. You can't simply run past these skeleton archers because one arrow will make you corpse as well. Very veeeery fishy setup. But there still might be a lot of players out there who enjoy running with naked balls on fire all the time
I'm not the first one to say this, I can read, I did try it, it's not that great. Sorry for your extremely butthurt and overly defensive point of view because you can't handle critiques of a characters build in a video game.
I love how many people have said that this build simply isn't that great and the OP just keeps telling everyone to read, haha.
This build feels like the d2 necro. I like it a lot. Didn't try to push hard only did a 80 grift, with only one ancient item and 920 paragons with around 900k sheet dmg.
I numlocked command skeletons as well
Nice build! It works better for me using Bone Armor instead of Land of the Dead. Also, since I'm using BA I'm using Stricken instead of Esoteric.
Trying it out now.
How come I only summon like 3 or 4 mages, then they all start disapearing? How are you keeping them up so long?
1) You cannot select what mobs to kill. You have to kill everything. Every single small mob. It will be a huge waste of time in any rift with tonns of small mobs.
2) No toughness at all. YOu see a mob and have to hide behind your minions, otherwise if anything hits you are dead instantly. Very scary and very frustrating. Any single ranged mob in a rift is unplayable rift for you.
3) You do not utilize the power of Singularity rune at all, you are dumping all essense at like 10% all the time. Your mages are very weak.
This is completely untrue. Blizzard allows the use of macros, as long as it doesn't automate the full combat cycle, like botting.
You can use a macro that spams 1-2-3-4 keys 100 times a second, as long as you still control the character.
Here's a blue post to back up these claims: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/d3/topic/5795159954?page=2#post-30
I'm using Army of the Dead instead of the Ice Golem. Works better for me. Especially cause it benefits from the set a lot and also is a kind of cc. I'm using the 40000% rune with physical damage.
I can't get the numlock trick to work. Mages are auto-casted but Devour has to be used manually
Hi, I really want to use this but can you explain how you deal with Jailer, Frozen, Molten, teleport, etc? I know dodging will come with practice but I feel like your current setup without dayntees, bone armor, or unity makes it so that you get one shot by those affixes. I know you recommend staying a screen away but those affixes are nearly unavoidable sometimes.
I love this build. I was paragon 160ish when I started on 7/2/2017. After I read this build, I started searching for all the items. 2 days later and about 50 Greater Rift runs, I am now paragon 428. Have all the items listed here except for Circle of Nailuj Evol (which I am still searching) and the belt. So far I have done Greater Rift 50 with another player. Pretty solid build for a Necro Bone Set. When I pop Land of the Dead, everything onscreen dies in 2-3 seconds.
I also recommend Countess Julia's Cameo (Neck): Prevent all Arcane damage taken, and heal yourself for 20%+ of the amount prevented.
I recommend Cord of Sherma (belt): Chance on hit to create a chaos field that blinds and slow enemies inside for 4 sec.
To put into context, Before July 2, I couldn't do a Greater Rift 30 solo. I just finished a Greater Rift 40 solo in 5:34 -- died once.
