Krysbin's Sentence
NOTE: Since so many people have been redirected here for the "corpseless version", I've updated this build page to reflect the current meta version that uses Simulacrum Reservoir and Endless Walk. The previous version uses Moribund's and Johnstone, but pushes at least 5 GRs lower. With that change you give up roughly 3.2x damage while inside LotD to be able to dps during its cooldown. You can find gameplay of that build here.

Build Guide
Hunt only elites and don't try to fight without LotD+Sim.
Kill a blue pack every now and then to get your Powerful gem proc up.
Every elite you kill will keep you even with the timer with enough CDR.
You will get ahead of the timer by getting double kills during Pylons or when elites are lured together while waiting on cooldowns.
Updated. Basically, you need a ton of toughness to survive, but get as much Phys% = CLance% > CHC = CDR as you can without sacrificing too much toughness. I recommend ~55m for GR85.
Nice build. Using a variant of this while I level my fresh Necro. Thx.
Can you explain how Trag'ouls and Legers work w/out using a grim scythe skill? I've seen Trag'ouls used in so many builds proccing curses w/out actually using the scythe generator.
@xSomeLameNamex
When builds run trag'ouls without grim scythe they're doing it strictly for the 200% damage bonus, and not for the ability to apply other curses.
You'll see they still use decrepify (which is a curse, fill in other curses for different builds) it applies the damage bonus from trag'ouls and the damage reduction from dayntee's on top of what it does naturally so you don't need to worry about grim scythe / cursed scythe in order to proc the damage bonus and apply more curses.
Makes sense now that I've read it more carefully. I read it as one chunk.
Thanks!
Updated with GR90 video.
Nice build loving it so far got a couple of quick questions what gems do you recommend in the armor I see in the video you have a mix of diamonds and amethyst and did you put any paragon points into vitality?
@FANATiK
Just take as much toughness as you feel you need. It's very squishy so you'll need a lot.
I was clearing 85 with 50-55m, and that 90 with 64m.
With better play and better maps you will need less.
This build is very fun to play, thank you for the post.
Is it possible to get a link to you necro to see your stats and items?

Thanks!
Amazing
Just a quick question from my side: Offhand is irrelevant, serves only as damage boost?
Have you tried using Reileen with Trag in cube? Which option is favorable?
One more question, have you tried using topaz in helm, is that working with HP costs?
Also, what about Lornelle's Sunstone ?
Or is flat 50% that Unity gives better overall?
I love this build!
Friend and me are running 85's, he's front with Inarius, and I'm spamming from behind and with CoE, on physical roration, I am seeing crits that are in 5500+B!!
RG falls down within single Land of the Dead, and there is no damn Stricken.
Plus visually it looks cool as hell
I'm going to assume 1-Handed + Phylactery for more stats?
Also, is Zei's really best in slot here?
Zei's definitely is, yes. If anything you'd consider replacing Trapped. You need the stun chance from Zei's.
The only fun range build for necro so far. Thanks for coming up with this idea. My 2 cents on it.
- you can switch Moribund with Corpsewhisper, depending on which one you have with better stats
- Esoteric is pretty much pointless, it doesn't diminish the damage from the lance and this is the main damage source we got. Gizzard would do the trick much better
- you can also switch Life from Death to something else like Final Service or even Dark Reaping. Dark Reaping is nice for lower rifts like 80
- Decrepify can have Borrowed Time rune to decrease the cd for Land of the Dead. The curse has just 10% stun chance and you can proc the non-slowing crowd control by something else like zei or Land of the Dead itself
- therefore I switched Parthans to Nemesis as well, faster rift progress
- too bad the lance targets just 1 mob. If this build had AOE it would be absolutely gorgeous. What if you stack aoe damage on gear, would it work?
- can't get ancient Shadowhook so far to test the 2 hand version
Both improved healing and cc immunity sound pretty cool too.
Also got ancient Shadowhook, it totally can't compare with 1-hand and offhand.
This is his character: https://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Wheathn-1298/hero/90279599
Why do you use two items increasing Grim Scythe's damage when you don't use the skill?
Maybe it will be better to use:
It will be better if you switch shoulders (cube) and gloves (wear) so you can get max Corpse Lance damage bonus, while the passive from gloves is always maxed out
Any thoughts?
