Build Guide
This is a very fun ranged WD build that is great for multiple targeting (especially goblin packs). Definitely T13 farming capable with lvl60+ gems. The standard drawback with Zuni pet builds is that Pet AI is dumb and they don't always attack the correct targets.
This Bomber build allows for more interactive game-play focusing on casting SB/WoD on targets and let the pets clean up after. Both skills will spawn and maintain the max number of fetishes for the Zuni set dmg reduction.
The key to Mana management is the Rush of Essence passive that fills as fast as it is used.
GAME-PLAY:
Cast/Spam Spirit Barrage/3x Wall Of Death on multiple targets as far ahead as possible. Piranhado to suck/group/ targets. Spirit Walk away from danger. Recast Fetish Army, Gargantuan to re-position to current target location as needed. Try to maximize distance to targets to optimize Zei's dmg potential. When out of combat, get 30% movement speed from passive. Don't be afraid to hold down that SB button.
NOTES:
Don't forget to speed cast/stack Wall of Death 3 times (thanks to Jeram's Bracers) under targets before spamming Spirit Barrage.
Using Voo's Juicer + Gazing Demise combo gains the runes Phlebotomize (Gain 6437 LoH), The Spirit Is Willing (gain 12 Mana on hit), and Phantasm (3x spectres that deal 750% weapon damage as Cold) on top of increased SB dmg. You can basically channel SB when hitting targets without dropping Mana.
ALTERNATES
Passive play-style: Spirit Barrage Manitou rune is an auto-target and auto-cast option. You walk around and the spectre overhead will hit targets as you walk and it never misses nearby targets. There appears to be no wait for explosions since the spirit bolts are cast once at the target. You can spam on top of targets to get more explosions. Great for times when you don't have time to fire while moving away from danger or being chased.
Active play-style: Spirit Barrage Phlebotomize rune is a point and shoot option where 3x spirit bolts will hit the target. Startup is a little slow, but once you hold the button down, the bolts will rain down on the target area at a very fast rate. This rune is redundant since it is included with the Voo's
Juicer, but it provides a more machine gun attack that seems to generate more SB attacks/dmg per second faster. Great for long range (edge of screen) target sniping.
Passive Jungle Fortitude can be used in place of Fierce Loyalty if you want more toughness or Pierce The Veil for more dmg.
Can switch between: Piranhas - Piranhado for grouping targets/more defense or Soul Harvest - Languish for more surviveability or Summon Zombie Dogs - Leeching Beasts for more pet dmg or Haunt - Poisoned Spirit for more 20% dmg
I tried a Ring Of Emptiness, Haunt, Locust Swarm variant, but it was lacking toughness without the pets.
I also tried RoRG(cubed), Aquila Cuirass, SMF, Hellfire Amulet in place of SMG(cubed), Zuni Chest, Compass Rose, Traveler's Pledge, but the loss of the Endless Walk dmg + dmg reduction boost was too noticeable.
Spirit Barrage dmg really needs to be added to WD armor set bonuses. The only really boost comes from the LON variant. This should satisfy game-play till those LON pieces fall into place.
UPDATES:
Added Passive and Active play-style alternatives and changed Spirit Barrage rune to Phlebotomize.
Correct, but this is not a LoN build ... that's my other one ( http://www.diablofans.com/builds/89984-lon-ranged-spirit-barrage-gargs-zdogs-mimics )
In my statement above:
I was merely stating that the only real set-related dmg bonus available for SB is from the LoN set. Normal WD sets do not (currently).
I like the build, but I have a question for you. When cubing The Barber and using the Manitou rune, won't it explode after the 20 seconds when the casting is done? That would feel like an eternity. Or does having Gazing Demise in your off-hand cause it to explode after the 5 seconds from the Phantasm rune. Thanks.
Thx ... No wait for explosions using Manitou. After further testing, I concluded that I liked a more active play-style. I added the following to Alternatives you can try to see which you like better:
