Call in an assault from afar, raining 5 spheres of burning pitch and stone onto enemies around you, dealing 2850% total weapon damage to enemies within 12 yards of the impact zone.
Barrels of Spikes

In place of the burning spheres, barrels of spikes are hurled. Damage of each barrel is increased by 200% of your Thorns.
Steed Charge Spiked Barding

Cooldown: 16 seconds

Mount a celestial war horse that allows you to ride through enemies unhindered for 2 seconds.
Spiked Barding

The war horse deals 500% of your Thorns every second to enemies through which you ride.
Condemn Vacuum
- Condemn
Cooldown: 15 seconds

Build up a massive explosion, unleashing it after 3 seconds, dealing 1160% weapon damage as Holy to all enemies within 15 yards.
Vacuum

As the explosion charges up, it sucks in enemies. The closer it is to exploding, the more enemies it sucks in.
Consecration Bed of Nails

Cooldown: 30 seconds

Consecrate the ground 20 yards around you for 10 seconds. You and your allies heal for 32185 Life per second while standing on the consecrated ground.
Bed of Nails

The consecrated ground becomes covered in nails. Enemies that walk into the area take 100% of your Thorns damage every second.

Weapons - Topaz (DO NOT use crit gems!! As a thorns build you do not Crit, use a THORNS gem)

The rest - Ruby (for damage) or Diamond (for toughness)

Build Guide

This will be my build for S9 when I have the items gathered. I will be starting with this build: [S9] Thorns of the Invoker - Crusader Starter Set.

On the Hellfire Amulet you use Indestructible (or one of the other 4 passives and swamp that one for Indestructible

Note: I got my technical information from this build over at Icy-Veins. I listed it here for my own convenience because the DiabloFans builds are awesome to keep open on a second monitor. They give a very clear overview of the items you need.

My companion will be a Templar with the following set-up:
