UPDATE : I'm always testing builds/meta on my stream : https://www.twitch.tv/hoxango so if you want an instant answer you might join the stream and say hello !
I will update this build with a video when I'll be pushing with my team
On the item side, you can switch some items , like the off hand ( keep sledge fist to CC mobs). You can use Pig sticker to increase your IAS, you could use in geom ( excellent for speed runs, not for pushing), THunderfury ( I dont really like it because it could slow down mobs while moving but could be cool while pushing since u need more time to kill mobs).
Cube : Flying Dragon is a very good option but I'm currently playing with Ahavarion, since you get Shrine effects and that is excellent for speed runs ( and prbly for pushing...). The law + RoRG and mandatory and can't be removed.
Hellfire amulet : you will need a 5th passive , it could be NDE ,or seize ( ias for healing and better CDR with obsidian), or unity. At some point, you could remove Harmony to get one of those passive.
Why removing Harmony? >>> most of your items have health globes bonus and you wont have a secondary resist ( shoulders for example).
I would recommand to keep NDE by the time to get used to the build or while u get more EHP : this build is a bit tricky since you dont have spirit guards ( -40% EHP).
Except Vigilance, which gives you CDR and help to refresh faster Seph and Serenity, the rest of the items are pretty much the same.
Sanctuary choice : I'm taking Safe Heaven here, but you could (and should) switch to intervene ( a bit tricky so I woudnt recommand it, even though it's efficient when you manage it well). You will have to switch to temple of protection if the other support isn't a barb ( to provide CC immune).
After some tests on 107+, I would definitely recommand to use Intervene since it brings a lot of ehp. but your teamplay ( you + the dps) has to be synchronized).
Cyclone Strike : Soothing Breeze to improve your healing, but I would recommand Implosion for speeds. In the case you have enough cost reduction on gear,
FOR PUSHING : THE BEST option is to use ICEBLINK instead of esoteric. As such , you will have to switch to the wall of wind rune ( to proc the iceblink with a cold spell). but if you remove esoteric, be ready to suffer boys
Stats you will be looking for :
- CDR, as much as possible
-Health Globe Bonus
-Cost reduction < mandatory for this build !
-Attack speed

Build Guide
Hello everyone,
This build isn't really new since I was using it with my mate tristelune in HC....in Vanilla, 3 years ago But since they nerfed the healing from Soothing mist, we need to find ways to protect our allies ! and here you go :
Compared to S6, we swapped Crippling Waves for serenity. You no longer generate spirit while hitting mobs, but get the spirit from The helm 'the laws of seph' ( as you were doing in S4...).
Thanks to that, you gain serenity with the tranquility rune which will allow you to protect your allies. You will spam it as much as you can, but you will try to time it for dangerous situations such as frozen/molten/grotesque explosions.
What to keep in mind, as a support monk :
-you dropped Spirit guards, aka 40% EHP. which means you will be weaker, but playing with serenity, you will feel like Superman and shoudn't have issues ( this season the lvl of GR will be lower anyway compared to S6).
-if I had to list the pros and cons, here is one of the con : to move faster, you will dash with Cyclone strike instead of Crippling Waves, f*cking up the DR on mobs and making them harder to pull ( for barb...or a sup wiz....or a DH.)
IF you have any question or remark, do no hesitate to post constructive remarks and join my stream to discuss
Edit 1 : this build isn't the best one if you are playing the 3 Zdps : if it's the case, just use the classic build, using IAS mantra to get more dps (and breaking wave if your group can afforf it). <<<< drop ehp for more dps.

In vanilla, Serenity was fully protecting your team mates, not giving a shield boosted by your globes. Yes, we were playing it in HC, with Tristelune, an excellent support monk and I think he would find funny that, 4 years after, 'Hoxango copied the build' lol.
I'm playing Support monk since vanilla (world record here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Itt-WnZ40DU) so I dont think I have to copy anyone to learn to play the game.
I really like gammel tho, he is an excellent player and gave me the idea to use esoteric in S6 2p. 100% shoutout to him for that, woudnt have think it by myself
And this record was made competing vs Invis, SIN, Detox, Eldiablo or avoid. Aka, top players as well.
Haters gonna hate, see you and THX for your constructive comment.
I have run sledgefist in build tried this one a shield worked better for me
Interesting build. I'll have to play around with it later today with my group and see how it compares when we're trying to push high 80s. Some questions as I'm sure you have tested more than I have (I'm a total newb at group play) and have a much better idea:
1) Why vigilante belt? Is 5% CDR really worth losing all the tankiness from string of ears, or swapping out Inna's belt and getting a new item in the cube? Seems like an insignificant amount with how much you stack it elsewhere.
2) Do you run multiple oculus rings in your group, or swap that out if someone else has one? If so, what to? Along the same vein, do you swap your gem out if someone else is running toxin or does that stack?
3) Is chant of resonance strictly for the spirit regen or are you actively popping your mantra all the time?
4) The mantra is really interesting. But with that mantra and the inner sanctuary rune, wouldn't you be way more helpful to the group if you were running a high level Molten Wildebeast gem? That extra life per second gets insane and affects both skills with a pretty decent ratio.
Can't wait to test this one out, looks like a simple variation but I love Serenity so it sounds like fun!
ezoteric
1) its 8% , not 5% so at the end it really helps you to get serenity back faster. You COULD play it with inna belt and get another item, but I can't figure out which one. if you have an idea let me know
2) YES, multiple occulus. at the moment, the dps are WD, wizard or monks in speeds or push. Wizard and WD don't have dash to reposition easily and having more than one chance to get an occulus at the right position is very important.
Toxin stacks every support should run it. The only gem which doesnt stack is iceblink, when I'm playing with 3 supports I use it instead of esoteric to be sure the 10% crit are applied on every mobs.
3) I'm spamming the mantra ( and after a long night of pushing, my fingers are dead
4) The best option, and I didnt explain it clearly, is to use the rune INTERVENE. but to use intervene, you have to use vocal and be clear on where you'r gonna put your sanctuary ( I cant imagine in HC how much it would be important). I'm used to position a sanctuary and as such, make it clear for the party WHERE to position. that can be done with Safe heaven, but can hardly be done with intervene.
At a very high lvl of GR ( 105+ for now...early S7), Intervene brings a lot of EHP but is really hard to manage for a beginner monk or a monk who isn't using TS/mumble/discord with his team.
When I will feel confortable without esoteric ( i'm not atm, dropping spirit guards really hurt in 105+ to tank firechains etc), I will try out Molten and its efficiency on safe heaven. if it turns out to be efficient ( I really dont think so), I'll switch my gear to Life per second ( and keeping heatlh globes as secondary).
I've tried to use numlock on healing mantra, and it saves a lot of finger works
I guess you can time your serenity on critical situations, but normally cast it then refresh cd with cyclone strike is enough.
I think azurewrath is better than pigsticker due to the secondary effect on freezing mobs.
Cold/stun effect are shared and mobs are getting DR'd enough with Sledge fist, u dont need Azurewrath.
Thanks for the reply! All good information and I tried it last night to decent results (but the DDOS made it much harder with all the lag). I actually really liked it, but I've got some new questions!
First, it seems like the whole build relies on spamming your mantra shield to keep your team shielded, spamming flash to get your spirit back from helm, clicking to activate epiphany on cooldown to keep that up, and then using sanctuary/serenity for burst protection (which in a big group is basically casting it on cooldown).
I find myself also spamming cyclone for dashing but also just in the middle of the pack. I don't know if it's actually being helpful or if it's just habit left over from the healing cyclone strike of the old build. I might be wasting spirit spamming it too much.
I don't find myself struggling with intervene on sanctuary, I find it's actually a little easier than safe haven because of the dash. I can wait to see where my DPS is going to set up (usually in an oculus) and then cast sanctuary on them to dash there and get the shield up.
It's weird not having any kind of auto attack with epiphany being primary click, and I'm wondering why attack speed is at all important without something there. It actually makes me want to try using inna's belt again and then running sledge fist and stormshield with a justice lantern, would be an insane boost in toughness and I'm wondering what I'm missing about prioritizing attack speed on a build without spirit generation. Is it just cast time for the other abilities?
Anyway, we were clearing 85 with it which is our hardest GR so far this season and they weren't even taking damage, we just kept getting kicked and couldn't push any higher. I'm psyched to try this in higher rifts as I think there's a lot more potential for this than the standard heal monk I was running.
Also I think you're right and the life regen just isn't worth it, but I need higher gizzard to test it. I think if you prioritize it on all your gear you can get around 200,000 life per second which is an extra 14,000 heal on your mantra and sanctuary. It's not insignificant, but it only takes your team up to 75,000 life/second which just isn't enough to hold up at higher levels.
We're gonna hit 100 this season! Thanks again for the build.
Yeah I don't think it's necessary, I wasn't taking damage and I didn't die at all up to 88 so I don't honestly know how high we can push, it was my group dying because we couldn't kill fast enough. Workin on that but you mentioned looking at alternatives for toughness aside from the vig belt being possible and that's been my best thought so far since attack speed seems to be unimportant with this build and pig sticker doesn't seem necessary. Just anything that can roll 10% CDR/RCR. Stormshield can do that I believe, but also adds a lot of toughness. Just brainstorming! I hope to find a group doing something higher like 95s or 100s so I can see what the build can actually do as I don't think 88 was coming near the limits. I was standing in molten explosions without serenity and living just fine with those shields.
Should call this the shield build
as I said you dont need EHP for YOU, you need to buff the party guys, or lower the dps from mobs...that's why I'm thinking about a nice thunderfury but coudn't find a good one yet. for speeds ( 91 as I do on stream), in geom is very nice.
Been playing with this build for a couple of days now in our 2 DPS/2 support group of friends and I gotta say, I think it's stronger than the standard heal monk build floating around, it's just way more difficult to pull off. Especially with intervene for inner sanctuary providing so much of the damage mitigation, it's crazy how important it is to track your DPS and stay on them with it and it's exceptionally hard to do with shitty affixes like vortex and wormhole.
Back with some more questions though! And I hope you update the guide with stat priorities on gear, play style information, and possibly a video as well, because I think it deserves a lot of recognition.
1) Why flying dragon? I'm running it now in the cube with sledge fist and thunderfury (both with 10% RCR/CDR) and I can't think of anything that would improve it, but since you have no actual attack with this build I think there has to be a better option in the cube for weapon. Thoughts on that? Am I missing something?
2) Want to make sure I'm understanding the build properly, because it feels like I'm not playing the build to it's full potential even though we've been having success. But my group doesn't have the DPS to push past 88 so I can't test it in anything higher yet and I think I would fall apart at anything higher than 90 just because I'm not good enough to play it properly.
I'm button mashing sometimes and that is probably not a good thing. But it feels like I want to be casting blinding flash on CD to keep getting spirit as it's my only real form of spirit gen since I have no generator or spirit regen without it. But then I also want to be spamming mantra constantly in a fight and tapping it pretty frequently between packs to keep that shield topped off which is draining the spirit fast (do you just keep the button held down on mantra at any point? I'm just clicking it).
So because my spirit is falling constantly and I want Flash up as much as possible for spirit, I keep spamming cyclone constantly to keep my zodiac ring working and reducing my blinding flash CD to get spirit back. Then I'm spamming serenity to keep my team shielded and because this build is surprisingly squishy without it up and with no spirit guards or esoteric.
It's then just using my inner sanctuary to keep repositioning and shielding my DPS in a fight. So that and epiphany (I just cast it when it's about to end, never really not in epiphany) are like the only skills I'm not mashing when things get hairy. There has to be a better way to do this, because the mobs are getting CC immune super fast with all the cyclones but without them my CDs aren't low enough to keep blinding flash coming so I can have the spirit to spam mantra. It's working and we're not dying, but it feels like I'm not playing this build right. Maybe my DPS are just too squishy and are dying so fast that I feel like I need to be working overtime like that, but if I let up on the cyclone spam it seems like my stuff runs out and we wipe. 74% CDR
Any advice or tips on how to get the most out of this build?
3) What does your dream hellfire amulet look like for this build? I just have an 8% CDR near death experience one with nothing else of note, wondering what I'm even looking for. I would assume dex, CDR, RCR but what passive and why? I feel like I can drop NDE because I'm really not dying at all unless it's some seriously gnarly groups with some unfortunate combination of affixes.
Thanks again for making the guide, I'm having a blast playing it as it's a lot more engaging than the IAS heal monk support I was running previously. When I'm on fire playing this build my group can't even believe they are surviving some of these packs (we're all sub 800 paragon) and we should be able to push 90 or 95 with it this season even with our goofy off meta comp which is higher than any of us has done previously. Feel like a big part of that is this build so thanks! And I hope you update and build on it as much as possible so that it gets the recognition it deserves. I'm submitting it for the /r/diablo3monks sidebar!
Thank you very much for your comment Teeklin !
I will update my build a lot this week since I tested a lot of things on 100+, and trust me, on 107+, you can get rekt a lot, especially if you remove esoteric!
to quickly answer :
1) Flying dragon provides AS, which improves your heals ( from soothing mist/ Epiphany) and u can spam cyclone faster, thx to what you will refresh your CDs faster ( obsidian) and have a better healing burst ( thx to cyclone strike / soothing breeze.
2) the build is very demanding in terms of gear: you need Cost reduction on every pieces to spam cyclone without getting spirit issues and have some confort while playing
3) the dream hellfire would have CDR 8%, cost reduction 8%, and attack speed of life. AND ofc, 38K+ globes ;=)
The passive : I'd advice you to keep NDE, if you die, on 100+, your dps will die as well and you will loose a lot of time.
I'm updating my build today ( a bit), and will provide a video of my pushes as soon as I can. if u have further question u can catch me on my twitch channel !
i absolutely cannot get Ahavarion to proc. you really need top notch RCR for this to work i think. tough.
This build is not viable without the generator. The generator with flying dragon is the main skill that procs soothing mist. There's no way the serenity makes up for that.
)
That's why I'm playing it on LIVE stream everyday, because it doesnt work
