Build Guide
OLD BUILD HERE: http://www.diablofans.com/builds/85778-thorns-of-the-invoker-gr95-in-depth-guide (with OLD video! Check it out for FULL OLD VERSION of the build!)
GENERAL TIPS:
The build is less density dependent now but killing trash is still important!
1) Avoid fighting lonely elite/blues. You need to generate Thorns procs from BLOCKS. No packs = no blocks. Lure them into the packs of trash and let your area damage work for you.
2) Try to maintain at least 50% cdr and AS MUCH ATTACK SPEED as possible. The faster you attack, the faster you apply thorns damage/area damage through HACK and 2pc Invoker.
5) Since in density you will reset cooldowns fast with Akarat's Awakening, it is possible to sacrifice even more CDR for attack speed/all res.
5) RGs without adds will take more time to kill (less 2pc stacks).
6) Arcane/Frozen is bad as usual. Also skip Shielding and Illusionist.
7) Area Damage is pretty strong in this build. So i suggest sacrificing some CDR for AOE on weapon, and CDR/AS/AOE gloves would be great too, as well as AOE shoulders wtih CDR.
8) Thorns secondary rolls everywhere
9) As much all resist as possible
10) Watch for COE physical rotation. Never miss it.
11) Try to find balance between Life on Hit and CDR/Area Damage/Attack Speed. I personally recommend to have LOH on bracers/helm and weapon.
SKILL OPTIONS:
1) Decaying Strength instead of Invincible. Much more damage mitigation, but less recovery and lower DPS (lower attack speed). Recommended to use with paragon less than 1000-1500. Sometimes i get annoyed with frequent deaths and switch to Decaying Strength..The difference in survivability is HUGE.
2) Provoke - Too Scared to Run/Cleanse instead of Hit Me. More CCing of mobs, but less damage reduction. Better be used along with Invincible.
3) Bed of Nails instead of Provoke if you will use Akarath's Awakening + Pig Sticker/Hack and cube Blood Brother. This will compensate some damage loss from the Spiker/Provoke. Not as good as it was in 2.4.1 though

Hi there! Looking to make this thorns build crusader, and was wondering: how essential is the Endless Walk set? If I skipped out on that, I could run a Ring of Royal Grandeur (allowing me to get both Sanguinary Vambraces and a Heart of Iron), and then whatever in my neck (probably Hellfire Amulet?). But would that just be less damage?
Thoughts on this build with the current PTR buffs? How high do you think it'll clear now?
Was kinda hoping for a few more... Eh. Progress is progress.
Thx man!
This are updated?
I'm loving this build!
thx man
What do you use in your follower?
Can’t remember if I asked you this before, but after testing do you prefer straight Invokers or 6 Akkhan/2 Invokers for next season?
Hello, Love the guide. I was wondering, can you turn this build into a speedfarming build by changing into spiked steed? does the damage from spiked steed be viable in torment 13?
Thank you.
With 2.6.1 changes, it looks like Invokers will be an elite sniper set.
Why not Nemesis in cube instead of Sanguinary Vambraces?
0. im curious of a few things, is sanguinary that much better than iron heart? one is a great source of thorns and the boosts 2 piece set as a whole while the other thrives off the 2 piece damage. i havent tested but thats ~25k thorns (about 10% of my total thorns) before the set 2 buff compared to 10x thorn damage at a 20% chance? maybe heart would actually be better in tandem with hack?
1. does the 2 piece stacks scale linearly or exponentially?
2. since thorns is based off str, wouldnt finery be better than fanaticism if im doing HC? esp with 10 gems thats 15% str compared to 15% atk speed? i think fervor is just a better fanaticism. right now i have finery, fervor. indestructible. and iron maiden. thoughts?
3. have you tried answered prayer? i feel like you can keep the 15% atk speed up almost permanently with it and 50% CDR and AA. seems good but i havent tested on rifts higher than 70 since im waiting on ancients..anyways, solid build! im running pig sticker but the squealing is going to make me change to hack soon haha
4. and do you think with the upcoming buffs to single target damage, will AD bemore important (but still second to atk spd) in this build to help clear?
(typed all this out and decided to bullet it for your ease and understandibility)
0) Heart of Iron is usually around 10% of dps while Sanguinary proc 1000% of thorns very often.
1) additive with itself
2) Finery will be very good indeed.
3) It's very bad since you won't be really killing anything but elites
