Build Guide
Hey guys! This is the second Wizard build that i've personally tested in and out and prepared for 2.4.2 and also it is absolutely identical for 2.4.3!
It's a lot of fun and quite tanky as well. I've experimented a lot with different skills, stats, gear and FINALLY after almost two weeks of testing i found the perfect combination that works very smooth.
This build utilizes full, reworked 2.4.2 firebird with three fire spenders and absolutely no primary skills. So this is the "all spender" caster build of pure fire and blasting.
Some stats of the builld:
up to 310% damage reduction (Flame Ward, Halo of Arlyse, firebird 6pc, orb of infinite depth, mantle of channelling, Endless Walk set, Safe Passage)
up to 40% increased fire damage (rolls on bracers and Traveller's Pledge) + 200% from Convention of the Elements
up to 170% increased raw damage (Endless Walk set, Mantle of Channelling, Orb of Infinite Depth, Unwavering Will, Magic Weapon), and this is without legendary gems. +~105% from level 100 Bane of the Trapped + Taeguk
How does it work?
1) Etched Sigil casts Explosive Blast for us as well as Apocalypse! The key of this build. This way we maintain 6pc bonus without massive AP drain.
2) No need to manually cast Apocalypse, save AP! Just keep casting Explosive Blast and Flame Ward!
3) Keep channeling Flame Ward at all times to maintain Mantle of Channelling bonuses.
4) Hergbrash's Binding helps A LOT with AP management. Without it, maintaining AP levels is very problematic, especially versus single monsters like RG.
5) Try to maintain at least 50% of CDR from the gear + Evocation passive.
6) Always have your Explosive Blast ready for Fire rotation of COE.
7) Always have elite ignited for full 6pc Firebird bonus.
8) Don't fight small monster packs <15-20. It's not worth Igniting small packs of monsters as it won't provide damage reduction or damage boost via 6pc. ONE lonely Skeleton Archer can easily kill you and a huge pack of 20 Unburied can't
What i like about this build is that it has a lot of options, depending if you want to be more offensive or more defensive:
OFFENSIVE:
1) Witching Hour instead of Hergbrash's Binding. This would require switching from Deflection to Conduit on Magic Weapon.
2) Force Weapon instead of Deflection
3) Glass Cannon instead of Evocation or Unwavering Will
4) Life on Hit on bracers to CHC (safe option)
5) Life on Hit on Wand of Woh to %Damage or %Attack Speed or %CDR (relatively safe option)
DEFENSIVE:
1) Aquilas Cuirass instead of Mantle of Channelling. Works bad versus RG as your AP levels will surely drop below 90%.
2) Gizzard gem instead of Taeguk. DPS drop, but recovery will be insane. I actually did my 77 with this setup and it was super smooth anmd safe. Recommended as the BEST option if you have problem surviving.
3) Gogok instead of Taeguk. This is very solid option and i've played with it a lot, but i realized that i am surviving well in current setup and Taeguk just gives more damage.
4) Unity instead of COE (for Hardcore ONLY). Huge DPS drop, but immortality instead.
5) Blur instead of Evocation, but you will need a lot of CDR on gear. So it will have the same "output".
Thank you!

Having fun with this build. Using Serpent sparker for additional flame hydra until I find wand
Hello
Really interested abt both your builds and will be certainly using one of them to keep my firebird wiz alive for a while having already augmented all the pieces...
Just one question as I have not yet tested the builds as I had no time to make the changes and play around: which one do you consider as the most efficient? This one or the other one using spectral blade?
Just interested abt you opinion while building-up one or the other
Thanks
I would say Spectral Blade build was slightly easier to play. You have a little lower toughness, but recovery and stricken stacking is incredible. So you can tank a lot of things and be somewhat "reckless". With the "Demoman" build, you need more recovery and more life per hit and more attention to what's happening on screen. Although it's visually much more appealing with BLASTING FIERY DEATH RAINING ALL OVER :D.
Damage-wise i would so both builds are equal.
Thanks and keep the good work!
I play on PS4 . Looking for Wizard builds that are GR worthy . As the new patch looks to possibly nerf my Twister Archon builds . My Wand of Woh build is a pain in the butt to play with all the buttons I need to hold down on my controller and it is not up to my GR standard . Looking forward to trying your Wizard builds . I just joined the web site . I posted My Etched Sigil LoN Ring set build. I think you have some good advice for me as my theory crafting is fair to partly cloudy . Peace
Finding ancient Wand of Woh is woefully hard XD (Ok I'll see myself out later for that pun)
I have a decent Sparker so I'll give it a try later once the patch goes live
Meteor Shower has delayed animation and less AOE than Apocalypse, so not worth it. But a better option than Hydra
This may yet save my season. I decided to run a wizard this time around. I hadn't run one since around season 5, before the whole Twister fiasco. I was never much of a fan of Archon and I tried to master the archon skill but I just felt so freakin' glassy I couldn't manage to 'get it.' Have everything done for season except my last conquest and I've been doing a lot of T11 speed runs just to build up mats and stuff and trying out different build so I could figure out how I was going to push a 75. Best I could manage on Archon builds was around 65 and that was dying like 4 or 5 times a run.
Found this build, decided to give it a shot and I just did a 70 and only died once. No augments yet. I have NO idea how you've managed to nab 40mil Toughness (I'm at just around 20mil) but there's hope I can get that 75.
Thanks!
Very cool build and going in my bookmarks for the future.
Just in case you still want to look. Hero is Andromache.
I think that CDR is not that crazy important in this build. It's good to have at least 50% to help with EB cooldowns, but overal it's not that important, like for Archon builds for example.
Hey i really like this build, i started it just for fun for the end of the season with a new wizard, got all the gear pretty easily except for the wand and the bracers.
I use Aether Aalker instead of Woh for easy teleporting and mobility, it cuts the damage pretty good but i use it for speed clears and it is great. I also use nemesis bracers for more death's breath on rifts. I clear T13 pretty easily and it's great.
I also played around with disintegrate instead of arcane torrent. It's lower on toughness but it ignites trash mobs more easily for me, although i don't really need them for speed clearing since i can teleport to any elite without delay.
I think i might use this build for season 9, do you think it will hold up?
Thanks for the build.
Yeah finding Wand of Woh is big problem. Try to get APDs though, they will greatly improve your toughness.
As for season 9 build. I have another build in the works now that i will upload just when season starts. I think it might be better non-archon build than this one. This build is still nice and pretty strong too, very gear dependent though as you need Wand of Woh to push GRs.
I can recommend this build too:

Another question - I'm currently using my teleport a lot, with the Aether Walker it's really easy and adds a lot of toughness. How do you manage to keep teleporting without it? do you just stack CDR?
