Use armor, strength, dexterity, CDR and all resist on gear because they are not core to WD. Use block chance on shield to increase damage reduction from justice lantern.


Mana regeneration should be used on helm and weapon to keep mana up to proc aquila cuirass.


Use spirit vessel as the 5th passive skill, and try to cube leoric's crown to get the 100% gem boost.

The goal is to have vitality and intelligence about the same in your stats. I have about 8000 vit and 9000 int. Use two thirds of the core points for vitality and one third of the points in the primary stat after maxing out resources and getting 25% movement speed. Adjust as needed based on gear stats.

Build Guide

I created this modified witch doctor build to solve the resource problems that made it difficult to proc the aquila cuirass. Rush of essence is a poor mana generator compared to gruesome feast. Gruesome feast in addition to generating mana also increases the amount mana by 10% with each health globe without a cap and increases intelligence by 10% per globe with a max of 50% both for 15 seconds. Since gruesome feast ups all resistances by boosting intelligence 50% it allows you to drop swampland attunement which only increases 4 of the 6 types resistance damage. This frees up a passive skill slot making room for creeping death which also reduces the need to spend manna. The use of Wall of Death replaces the cold of Frozen Piranhas and give a 25% damage reduction in addition to chilling for 60%. With Ice Blink being proced by Wall of Death it allows the use of the wave of mutilation which procs bad medicine. The wave and can also be used to help aggro monsters because when monsters are hit by the wave of mutilation it procs them into chasing/kiting. I also found that when you do not have to be as careful about resource management you are able to focus on other aspects of WD support.


Nothing here is cast in stone here make any changes you want to best suit your game play. For example if you need Jaunt to help scout and aggro. Try swapping the Wall of Death for Spirit Walk/Severance and changing to Frozen Piranhas.
