Build Guide
I created this modified witch doctor build to solve the resource problems that made it difficult to proc the aquila cuirass. Rush of essence is a poor mana generator compared to gruesome feast. Gruesome feast in addition to generating mana also increases the amount mana by 10% with each health globe without a cap and increases intelligence by 10% per globe with a max of 50% both for 15 seconds. Since gruesome feast ups all resistances by boosting intelligence 50% it allows you to drop swampland attunement which only increases 4 of the 6 types resistance damage. This frees up a passive skill slot making room for creeping death which also reduces the need to spend manna. The use of Wall of Death replaces the cold of Frozen Piranhas and give a 25% damage reduction in addition to chilling for 60%. With Ice Blink being proced by Wall of Death it allows the use of the wave of mutilation which procs bad medicine. The wave and can also be used to help aggro monsters because when monsters are hit by the wave of mutilation it procs them into chasing/kiting. I also found that when you do not have to be as careful about resource management you are able to focus on other aspects of WD support.
Nothing here is cast in stone here make any changes you want to best suit your game play. For example if you need Jaunt to help scout and aggro. Try swapping the Wall of Death for Spirit Walk/Severance and changing to Frozen Piranhas.

Thanks Meeneecat, I have been told that this is an easy build to try if you already have a support WD because the big changes are with skills and paragon point distribution. I have two friends who switched to using this build and they really like the way it plays.

I've personally seen the spec in action into the upper 90's (and know it can do much higher), so I can say it performs very well.

cohenming, the Thing of the Deep is standard equipment in the 4 player meta, it is used for the 20 yard pick-up radius. Picking up health globes that the barb and monk produce feeds the wizard's Energy Twister and heals the party. The use of Gruesome Feast on my witch doctor variation takes advantage of all the health globes. The build guide above goes into more details about the value of the health globes for the witch doctor. There are also many examples of the use of the Thing of the Deep on both the season and non season 4 player leader boards. To better understand the gameplay check out some videos.
