Did some searching for builds for Season 5s 'The Thrill' and was unable to find one for Monks, so I decided to experiment and bring something for you guys to have a reference point. First time writing a build here, so apologies if there's some issues in the write-up. I also might want to add that it's not really a build guide in the normal sense, just sharing my experience to help other Monks in their Seasonal Journey.

Half of the items and abilities are required for the way I chose to do a solo 45 with no set items.

Wave of Light (Explosive Light - Fire) is going to be our primary source of damage with our generator (Whichever you feel most comfortable with) to regain spirit if/when required.

While you're instinctively want to grab Desert Shroud on Epiphany, the Insight rune offers makes Wave of Light essentially free to cast while it's up. Dashing Strike with the dodge is always a welcomed defensive & utility ability. For the last two actives it's mostly up to personal preference, I would recommend either defensive abilities or something that will benefit Wave of Light directly.

Passive abilties are also fairly flexible. Beacon of Ytar is almost always a given, and I was comfortable with my speed having defensive abilities in the remaining slots.

Moving on to the gear.

Absolute must haves - Kyoshiro's Blade, Pinto's Pride, Tzo Krin's Gaze, Cindercoat.

Highly recommended - Magefist (Moar Fire%), Unity(with follower setup)

Notable - Lefebvre's Soliloquy (paired with Cyclone Strike this can replace Unity if needed).

Everything else is basically the best legendary you've got to use. I chose to go with Arcane & Lightning Immune necks (one in the cube), but there are plenty of other quality options. Ring(s) have a plethora of solid options as well.

Cube - Incense Torch is an absolute must for the obvious reasons. Kekegi's is probably not the best option, but it was one of the better options I had available at the time of my clear, and Xephiran (lightning immune) is just a personal preference, CoE would definitely be better if you were surviving fine but needed more damage.

Just don't forget you can do Torment 10 Normal Rifts to 'test' your build as GR45 is of equal difficulty and it will save your rift keys!

At time of clear I was around 595 Paragon, so I was able to max out nearly 3 of the 4 selections.

Core - I put enough into movespeed to get 25%, the rest went into vitality for a bit more tankiness as I was already exceeding the damage required for the clear.

Offense - CDR first to reduce the time between Epiphany. For the Crits, whichever you're lacking first, with the other next.

Defense - Pretty straight forward stuff here.

Utility - RCR to make Wave of Light extremely cheap and spammable. LoH to help your not-so-tanky setless self regain some health, and finally AD for a bit extra dps.
