Strength (Caldesann's Despair) "All Gear"
You can choose between your better roll of two legendary chest pieces for the torso slot, and cube the other one: the reworked Heart of Iron or Aquila Cuirass. Heart of Iron grants you 300% of your Vitality as Thorns, turning this basic Toughness stat into a source of Damage. Aquila Cuirass cuts incoming damage in half if you maintain above 90% of your resource, which is a permanent effect in this no-spender build. When considering their stats, remember that Heart of Iron has natural Thorns rolled in its secondaries, but has a wider range of the unique property stat; the range on Aquila Cuirass is irrelevant to you and will always be on, but you might have to reroll into Thorns damage as it doesn't roll by default.
- As previously mentioned, you can cube your weaker rolled item between the Aquila Cuirass and Heart of Iron in the armor slot.
Follower
Use a templar and choose all of his healing skills and max out CDR on all of his applicable gear. He should have around 42% CDR to maximize his healing spells on you and 43% block chance to CC groups.
Optimal Gear:
- Trinket with follower cannot die & blocking
- The Butcher's Sickle (groups them quite effectively for bombardment)
- The Ess of Johan (more grouping)
- Justice Lantern (blocking)
- Oculus Ring (damage proc)
- Freeze of Deflection (CC on blocking, make sure it has blocking on it)

Love this build!
Why Finery over Fanatiscm?
Thoughts on Vo'Toyias Spiker over Blood Brother in the Cube slot?
HI,
How about the Fail with 9500 Thorn damage ?
i think change Secondary to Thorn damage and add the Socket for this weapon and test it.
why do you give so much priority to STR? this build is not based on normal dmg as far as I can understand. Even more, increasing VIT increases survivability and also adds to the real damage that you do because of Heart of Iron armor.
I believe the whole point is a faster attack speed because your weapon damage does not matter at all in this build. Final answer: Use Pig Sticker with Doombringer transmog for ultimate power.
Just curious, Why not use "Hack" ? It gives you the 91% thorn damage applied to every attack, And it's fast, could this be a possibly use on this build? Plus you can add Attack speed as well to it. I mean it's what .11 lower in speed compared to the pig sticker but the 91% thorn dmg kind makes up for the .11 speed. In the long run you hit 91% more damage and only sacrifice .11 attack speed.
I've been enjoying your build greatly, but how do you raise the survivability for higher grifts. I can't seem to get past 60.
Edited
Pig Sticker is for the extra primary stat, since your weapon damage doesn't matter, you use it because it rolls an extra primary stat.
Just finally got the shield after a 4 days of farming and 7k blood shards. What a pain in my ass. I hope this build is fun:)
So Ive been messing with this build and like it alot.
As for weapon choice I am using
Ancient Nailbiter over Pig Sticker and was wondering if that makes sense. Since there is no DPS meter I cant tell whether or not it would do more damage one way or the other =(, but i figured a faster attack speed by .3, 100+ STR, 250+VIT, along with almost 10,000 more thorns would do more DPS, but im new to this so i may be wrong and any insight would be great.
What gr this build can do after nerf?
I need to ask a few things, what's the use of the lidless wall? Like what special passive does it have that other shields don't provide. At the moment I have Lidless Wall but it doesn't seem to be very special so I'm using The Final Witness. Also what is the point of attack speed in this build. I might be doing this incorrectly but not having a primary or other ability you can spam with your LMB is removing the ability to attack so you have to rely on for damage is thorns. This makes it excruciatingly difficult to defeat enemies, rift guardians or bosses which attack slowly or use abilities instead of attacks.
The first time I used shield glare instead of a passive, I found myself dying a lot because the only way for me to do damage was just to stand next to the enemy and wait for them to attack, the other source is of course the bombardment but that is on cd most of the time.
Thanks!
Actually the pig sticker has the faster attack speed since it does 1.50 attacks per sec while nailbiter only does 1.20 but that does not really matter since most of the dps comes from thorns and att speed isnt really important in this build. Pig sticker also has cdr which can be really useful if you need more but you might not need more. Furthermore since your nailbiter is ancient while pigsticker is not we need to consider that as well. After taking it all into consideration I would say that nailbiter would be best if you do not need the cdr.
Simple, the build doesnt really ever attack directly so the ability from hack will not be used enough to make it worth it. Not sure where you are getting pig sticker tho since the build shows swiftmount as weapon and The Mortal Drama in cube but whatever.
I am also confused why it has str over vitality in here I would guess its for the armor from str but still that only helps to a point and Vit will be better by far for dps when building around thorns like this build does. So I would be suggesting you try to keep them more even.
yeah I was wondering why ppl mention them too, confused. is sun keeper a good choice?
What does CC stand for?
Edit: Nevermind, it's Crowd Control.
