Build Guide
Note: Text and Guide will be updated further once I have more time on my hands.
Skill Choices:
Skill choices are pretty self-explanatory for the most part. 1 ability of each of the 4 elements for Tal Rasha's stacks. A spender and a generator for Bastions of Will that fits into the 4 elements. CC Tools in teleport and blizzard, along with mobility. Energy Armor: Force Armor prevents annoying one-shots, especially in higher grifts, while magic weapon is a flat out damage increase. In regards to passives: I picked Audacity over Elemental Exposure, because most mobs will only be damaged by your disintegrate and blizzard, not to mention the complications that arise from trying to maintain EE stacks all the time. Since you can spend a significant amount of time standing dead still right next to a group of frozen/stunned mobs even in solo games, I find that Audacity offers a better controllable and more consistent damage increase.
Playstyle:
-The 4 Tal Rasha's stacks are generated by Teleport: Calamity (Arcane), Blizzard: Frozen Solid (Cold), Disintegrate: Convergence (Fire) and Shock Pulse: Piercing Orb (Lightning). Each of these abilities will also drop the corresponding meteor on the targeted enemies.
- Keep 100% up-time of both Focus and Restraint buffs by using Disintegrate with at least 1 Shock Pulse every 5 seconds (Hold down RMB and press LMB while holding shift or targeting enemies to interrupt cast, if you're using the controller setup I did)
- Crowd Control comes from Teleport: Calamity and Blizzard: Frozen Solid
- Extremely mobile with Aether Walker in Kanai's Cube.
- You should never run out of AP if you maintain Bastions of Will set bonus with Piercing Orb correctly.
Gear choices:
- Makes use of Etched Sigil Effect to cover the battlefield with blizzards that slow and freeze enemies, as well as deal considerable amounts of damage.
-Tal Rasha's 6-set required
- Focus and Restrain 2-set required
- Ancient Parthan Defenders synergizes very well with Blizzard: Frozen Solid, Teleport: Calamity and effect from Etched Sigil.
- Cindercoat reduces cost of Disintegrate so that along with the waist in this build, Disintegrate can be fired at any time that it's needed, with only movement and a Piercing Orb ever 5s interrupting casting.
- The Shame of Delsere Increases the AP your Piercing Orb returns, giving the build nearly unlimited AP.
- Ring of Royal Grandeur to complete Tal Rasha's 6-set.
- Nilfur's Boast double's meteor damage, very powerful for a build where a meteor of each element is present.
Legendary Gems:
- Bane of the Trapped for extra damage on enemies under blizzard or teleport stun.
- Gem of Efficacious Toxin for immense DoT and extra damage.
- Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard for survivability. Seriously, this gem is probably my favorite in the game. It turns a squishy wizard into an immortal monster.
- Other gems are also viable (i.e. stricken, powerful) but this is mostly down to personal preference.
Thanks for sharing the build, I am new to Diablo 3 (well have played in spurts over last 2 years - never played any other version of Diablo, and until the last few weeks, I never played online, so very ignorant to most of the game ).
So I am following your guide and I have 2 questions.
1st I am on the PS4 and for the skills I can not have both Magic WPN & Energy Armor. Unless I am really confused on something. ( I am guessing it is a PC / PS4 thing? )
I have selected Magic Weapon and Force Weapon as you described.
Is that alright? Would you suggest other wise?
Also, from the 6 slot of abilities I do have available to me I would like to take and use the Black Hole ability. Would you know if that meshes alright with the build?
Apologies for all the questions & thanks again!
I've been using this build a lot on my Wiz, but with one modification to the things used in Kanai's Cube: instead of the Cindercoat, I used Hergbrash's Binding. Since either way it only will apply to Disintegrate, it gives you a 65% reduction in cost when cubed, so it's impossible to ever run out of AP with it as well. Good build though, easily worked my way to GRift 60 with this one, and highly recommend it! It's also worth noting that, if the PTR 2.4.1 changes go live, this build will immediately get a nice boost, so it will potentially be capable of pushing even further solo/grouped.
Thank you so much for this build! Its such a breath of fresh air after having to either play archon or explosions for speedfarm. This may not be the fastest, but my god is it fun. I would recommend using the new taeguk perhaps, and BotP if you want straight DPS.
