Build Guide
Will get some game play footage soon, and show some of the power this build holds
PTR has finally hit a point of "balance" for most classes and things are looking good for the Thorns Sader. Currently have cleared an 85 GR with this build, and it was a 4 floor rift with only a channeling pylon to be seen, the boss kill was Infernal Maiden and took only about 1 minute and 25 secs to kill at this level (spawned boss at about 1:50 left killed with 25 secs left). There is a possibility of this build going to 90+ solo gr by the end of the upcoming season if things stay where they are at, the build feels very strong and very tanky for the 85 that i did.
Currently wearing
6 piece invoker set (Helm, Shoulders, Gloves, Bracers, Pants, Boots)
Heart Of Iron
Belt of the Trove
Compass Rose, Traveler's Pledge, Justice Lantern for Jewelry
Hack for the weapon and Akarat's Awakening for Shield
Consecration rune - Bed of Nails
Bombardment Rune - Barrels of Spikes
Gems
Gear : Diamonds for the All Resist - Vit gem loss was only about 13k thorns which in overall is very little compared to the touhgness gain from diamonds, also a diamond in the helm for the CDR.
Weapon : Topaz for thorns damage
Legendary : Bane of the Stricken, Bane of the Trapped, Boyarsky's Chip (Thorns Gem)
Cube Items
Weapon : Blood Brother - Gives additional block chance and increases damage done after blocking an attack which occurs very often since we are block capped.
Armor : Aquila Cuirass - 50% damage Reduction is great for 85+ grs, damage hasnt been a problem yet, its been finding a way to survive.
Jewelry :Convention of Elements is a very strong damage boost and works great when it hits Physical, moving on past 85+ might have to swap to Unity for the damage reduction to survive.
Playstyle
I've just kept my cooldowns going as much as i can, try to line up your iron skin to maximize the 300% thorns damage bonus from it with consecration and auto attack everything with punish, try to stay in decent density as much as you can, seems to do better with more mobs attacking you to reduce your cooldowns from blocking more attacks.
Group Play (Work In Progress) No clue what we are doing sometimes
With the limited amount of people to try group comps out on PTR with what we have done so far I've only swapped out 2 things from the solo build,
Changed bombardment to Laws of Valor - Critical Rune, we get 15% increased attack speed and the group gets 100% Crit Damage
Changed out Finery Passive to Long Arm of the Law to give basically a 100% uptime on the law for the group
We have managed to get an 86 down in 4 player group, a lot of work and testing to be done here still and not sure what possibilities are to come for class synergy.

Love your work mate. With a terribly geared sader, I've cleared T7 and it was so easy I went to T10 straight away
5 of 6 Invoker, RORG cubed, zero ancients and using Westmarch shield
Unreal, this is so simple and easy, can't wait to push GR's
Great build! i run an almost identical one after seeing yours. I do however run Aquila Cuirass in chest. and go all res gems. I do lose roughly 20% thorns but gain 50% damage reduction. I think it is worth it as there are a lot of moments where you want to stand still. Currently finished a GR 81 with 4 mins left.
I was thinking about trying that out, will give it some attempts soon and with leveling the gem up higher the damage output is still very strong with the build, i'll give it a go, the 82 i did was horrible 4 level rift, just slowly working on the grind upwards with it.
Congratulations on the high clear. Have you considered running Heaven of Fury - Blesses Ground with Fate of the Fells and Eberli Charo? You sacrifice double Thorns damage for a cooldown that should deal triple thorns damage thanks to proc coefficents. I think it would be a better fit than Consecration, seeing as how your suitability is not as much of an issue as your damage potential.
After a while testing a thorns crusader build I've come up with a very similar build.
I use different gems though, Gogok of Swiftness and Simplicity’s Strength. I'm not sure about the last one, but having so much VIT gives you a really nice life per hit. Bane of the Stricken would be a good replacement.
I don't know about angel hair braid. having a flat 50% damage reduction is really good to consider using it.
At this point in time in the PTR im waiting for the next patch to come hopefully sometime this week to make improvements and changes with the build, Heavens Fury with blessed Ground works well, but causes a lot of lag in group play.
The chest piece for 50% damage reduction is nice and i've been using it the last day or so when i can get on and play
I've also played around with gogok over stricken, boss damage seems very strong with the build so i might do that just for the extra cdr, since it seems to be the best stat by for for improvements, at this time damage is definitely there with it, just need to find ways to survive which happens to be the case with most builds as of right now on PTR.
For hands, "Dex" is listed as a desired attribute?
so crit chance and damage dont matter or ?
