Ring of Royal Grandeur
= Season 4 Healing Monk guide by DUBZ =
This guide will cover the following:
* How to play the healingmonk in high end GR's
* Stat & Gems
* Explanation of positioning and re-positioning
* When and when not to skip mobs/tiles
-----------------------------------------------------------------
This is currently my variant of the current meta-healer in group play, season four.
This build is about proccing the Static Charge from your monk, as fast and often as possible to achieve an insane damage output per second.
CUBE:
WEAPON: For the weapon you want to run Flying Dragon in order to be able to proc it, and increase your attack speed dramatically.
ARMOR: The armor slot is a pretty good pick to run Illusory Boots in, since you wont be using dashing strike you wont be able to skip ("Jump") by mobs, wich means running through them is your best choice for skipping a bad tile / mobtype
I'm running with the ring of the royal grandeur to make myself have to wear less set items, and be able to equip more sets.
Hellfire amulet passive options:
The best alternatives would probably Chant of Resonance passive
or else
You can run with one of your current ones, as building up stacks with the weapons is made by spending spirit, you can therefore use your healing mantra activation five times and you'll be full on stacks, and have a huge increased attackspeed
MOBS:
For mob progression and knowledge of what to skip and what not
i'd recommend you visiting the site warpath.eu/progression.html
If you have less than 10% worth of mobs in your current tile and stack of mobs i'd recommend skipping further for more density
you want to stand in the middle of everything with this build, dropping your sanctuary on top of your dps and crusader to make them take way less damage, make sure to run this build with the setup Static Monk, Fire proc Crusader, Whirlwind Support Barbarian and "Istvan Monk" as this build is named.
GEM PRIORITIES:
Head: Diamond - More CDR
Chest: Diamonds - You want to be able to eat elite affixes when you actually encounter them and run past
Legs: Guess what? even more Diamonds - Read on chest for detailed information
Legendary gems:
Molten's Wildebeest Gizzard - This is one of your main sources for increased Life Per Second
Esoteric Alteration - No need to explain this one, it just gives you more survivabillity.
Gogok - Increase your attack speed wich grants more damage, aswell increasing your cooldown reduction.

DEFENSE
50/50 Life Regeneration - to boost your healing from Mantra of Healing
UTILITY
Resource Cost Reduction - Makes life easier ; Spam more mantras!
do NOT take Area Damage as it creates unwanted lag.
Build Guide
What to do, well you:
Stand in a tile where you're in the middle of all the mobs. Pull them in with cyclone strike, and land your inner sanctuary on the ground
spam your mantra as you spam your spirit generator to proc static charge, and hit your cyclone strike about every fourth-fifth second
Re-position left/right whenever you stand on too many on-ground effects (Enemy AOE), such as Frozen, Arcane, Desecrator, Plagued
in 3/4p your support barbarian should run ahead, tag mobs up ahead so they will follow you back, therefore creating more density.
try to put your sanctuary ontop of your oculus proc, so you can let the monk deal more damage while almost taking none - therefore thinking less about surviving, since it's your job to make sure he stays alive.
Skip tiles that have got low progression mobs and/or less than 15-20 mobs (read above under " Mobs " for details)
Suggested stats ingame:
75+ mil toughness
55+ mil recovery
950k+ life per second
1.2mil + life
1.7k+ allres
18k+ armor
68.20%+ CDR
GLHF - DUBZ
NOTE: I've been very inactive this season for several reasons, but i must say this istvan build is certainly amazing.
Thank you for all the feedback, and thank you for reading through the guide!
Congrats and thank you for all the detailed information. Gonna try it!
Thanks Dubz. As a first timer running any support role, really am liking this build! I substituted the Illusory boots http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/illusory-boots as seemed to be getting bogged down within large groups.
You can also swap Oculus for Rogar's Huge Stone for additional LPS. I've found that the Oculus proc comes too late in a brawl and by the time the ring is up, most of the mobs are dead and we're on to the next group.
Very eager to hear how heal monk can synergize with a carn WD!
