Build Guide
Hey what's up chainer here from twitch.tv/chainerfails
Feel free to stop by my live stream if you have any questions or just want to hang out.
Whirlwind - Blood Funnel
Your main source of damage comes from the added effect to whirlwind from 6 piece Wrath of the Wastes
(Whirlwind spawns Dust Devils that deal 2500% damage)
The rate of dust devils you spawn are based on attack speed breakpoints meaning until you reach the next pre-determined ammount of attack speed your dust devils rate will not increase. Use this to calculate you're attack speed breakpoints http://whirlwinner.herokuapp.com/
Don't forget to add in all your buffs with the calculation.
Bul-kathos wepons increase your movespeed + attack speed while casting this so constantly whirlwind all the time even when there are no mobs. Whirlwind will also gain you stacks of taeguk (0.5% damage/armor per tick of whilrwind) and maintain the buff so long as you don't let go of whirlwind for more than 3 seconds.
Battle Rage - Bloodshed
Standard Damage buff. Can be repetitively used to increase the buff from your Taeguk gem (0.5% armor/damage after spending resource)
The new Threatening Shout: Falter is technically more damage but it is a cooldown and will eat into your obsidian ring of the zodiac which you are using to keep high uptime on Wrath of the Berserker. Obsidian ring of the Zodiac lowers a random cooldown by one second every time you hit with whirlwind so it is important to try and keep wrath of the berserker as your only spell on cooldown (Warcry is the only exception)
Sprint - Marathon
Standard Movement Speed skill. Movement speed gets you through rifts/bounties faster, so increasing movement speed with skills Sprint will net you faster clear times overall over using damage buffs.
War Cry - Impunity
Another Movement Speed skill. This one requires the mighty belt Chilanik's Chain. This belt gives you 30%-40% movement speed after casting warcry for 10 seconds. Cast every 10 seconds.
Furious Charge - Merciless Assault
This is a really nice skill to have slotted for multiple reasons. First of you will be using the ring set Focus & Restraint which increase your damage by 50% for 5 seconds when using a resoruce spending attack (Whirlwind) and another 50% increase when using a resource generating attack (Furious Charge.) So generally you Sprint/Warcry to run thru the empty part of the maps and than when you see mobs you charge > whirlwind > repeat after 5 seconds. So Furious Charge here is great damage and great mobility. Mostly everything dies in less than 5 seconds with good gear so you mostly recast furious charge for a quick position on the next pack to kill than sprint/warcy when there are no mobs left. You do not have to worry about Furious Charge dipping into your Wrath of the Berserker uptime because the rune mercilees assault resets the cooldown when you hit 3-5 mobs (depending on your cooldown -1 mob for every 20 cooldown you have.)
Wrath of the Berserker - Insanity
Standard Damage Cooldown. This also gives you 25% attack speed helping you get up to the 6.67(used in this build) Dust Devil Breakpoints that I talked about under whirlwind. Recast when ever this is up. High up time on this skill comes from obsidian ring of the zodiac (also explained under Whirlwind.)
Weapons Master
Used to maintain fury While constantly casting Whirlwind
Ruthless
Basic Damage Passive
Rampage
Basic Damage Passive
Boon of Bul-Kathos
Lowers Cooldown of Wrath of the Berserker by 30 seconds
Berserker Rage
Extra passive for Hellfire. Basic Damage buff (Next best thing to Ruthless/Rampage)
Chainer again! Thanks!
ATTENTION: IF YOU'RE NOT INTO MATH, SCROLL TO BOTTOM FOR SUMMARY QUESTION!!!
Hey Chainer, in prep for 2.3, I've been trying to determine if a variation of an old goldwrap T10 build I've made will be comparable to this build.
Your build utilizes Chilanik's for speed, whereas mine uses Boon of the Hoarder coupled with Avarice Band. The trade-off is the certain amount of damage from losing a gem (Taeguk/Bane of Stricken/Bane of the Trapped) for extremely high toughness with the combo of boon/avarice/goldwrap.
I suppose that is my first question, is that an adequate trade if you consider you can drop All Resist on shoulders and Vitality on both weapons? The goldwrap toughness would then allow you to put Area Damage on shoulders and 7% IAS on both weapons. One step further, you would only need 1 more piece of gear with IAS to hit the next Dust Devil breakpoint if you consider the following: Both weapons 7% IAS, the Lacuni/Steady Strikers 7%, Gloves 7%, and 1 Ring 7% for a total of 35%. Using http://whirlwinner.herokuapp.com/ with all applicable data input, you can see you only need 34% additional IAS from gear to hit that next breakpoint.
Let's assume neither build is using the new Bane of the Stricken gem and both builds have 2 gems in common (Level 70 Taeguk and Level 50 Gogok). Mathematically, it would look like this:
Chainer Build: Gems (45% Damage Taeguk + 36% Damage Bane of Trapped + Gogok) + Rings (100% Focus and Restraint) + 6.67 Dust Devil breakpoint
Fondeesha Build: Gems (45% Damage Taeguk + Boon of Hoarder + Gogok) + Ring (50% Convention of Elements since a perfect is 200% divided by 4 cycling elements) + Skills (25% Threatening - Falter + 8% Crit Chance - Overpower) + 7.5 Dust Devil breakpoint
Totals: Chainer = 181% + 6.67 breakpoint OR Fondeesha = 120% + 8% Crit + 20% Area Damage + 7.5 breakpoint
The aforementioned totals brings me to the final question:
Is the next Dust Devil breakpoint + 8% Crit + 20% Area Damage + a slightly better Zerker up-time (Warcry's 20s CD will eat up more Zodiac than Threatening's 10s CD) better than 61% additional damage?
D3 Planner Comparisons show a huge disparity in damage and toughness but please double check my work.

Any feedback would be appreciated, just trying to get the creative juices flowing from the barb collective prior to the patch.
Just from a quick look, Focus+Restraint buffs are seperate multipliers (125%). Other than that I think most people can safely say it's definitely a viable alternative depending on your group and/or playstyle.
You need to fix the Sabatons, cause they can't roll AR.
I been trying this version of this build out, and I do fine up until I take on bosses and elites. Am I suppose to keep going around them in circles, or just stay on top of them for DD to do the job?
I don't have the weapons, so right now I using my CoTA and they stay out as I got 2x immortal items on. Everything else dies fast, expect rares and elites. Also I find I have to take rune that makes me take 50% less damage while in WoB, otherwise I just get slaughter.
I do however don't have the pants or the furnace for my cube, is there a special place to get them?
I have been watching a lot of your guides and i really appreciate the advice. After watching this video i asked myself what am i doing wrong....? You got a legendary or set item on every elite pack except 1, and the rift boss dropped like 4. The amount of legendaries and set items you got was the equivalent of at least 10 rifts for me. Do you run magic find? Does magic find help?
