Build Guide

Note: Required shield for this build is Frydehr's Wrath, but the build tool doesn't have it listed.

Pros

  • High AoE damage through Condemn
  • Moderate Single target from Punish
  • Significant buffs from each block with Punish

Cons

  • Requires being in the middle of everything
  • High toughness requirements
  • High gear requirement

Skills

  • Punish (Retaliate) - Combined with Depth Diggers and Angel Hair Braid, your high damage and high utility single target generator
  • Condemn (Unleashed) - Your wrath spender. This has no attack animation, so you can freely use it with Punish spam. Vacuum rune is also very strong for this, Unleashed is a matter of my personal preference. Very high AoE damage with Blade of Prophecy
  • Laws of Valor (Unstoppable Force) - Attack speed passive and more Condemns. More damage, pure and simple. Alternate: Laws of Valor (Critical) - Group play or for when Wrath cost reduction isn't needed.
  • Akarat's Champion (Prophet) - Combined with 6pc Akkhans, gives a very large toughness boost and halves wrath costs. A staple of this build for higher rift tiers, but not needed when starting out.
  • Steed Charge (Endurance) - Pick your rune here, I prefer endurance for the extra duration, but the healing rune and others are also viable. Your mobility skill/get-out-of-jail-free card.
  • Provoke (Hit Me) - Large Wrath gains and increased block chance to maximize procs from Punish.

Passives

Recommended:

  • Finery - More strength, a strong choice overall
  • Heavenly Strength - Absolutely required for this build to function
  • Long Arm of the Law - Higher uptime on Laws of Valor.
  • Holy Cause - 10% more damage and a small heal, what's not to love?

Optional:

  • Fanaticism - Higher Single target damage than Finery (especially with lower strength) at the expense of AoE damage from lower Condemns
  • Towering Shield - Same as Fanaticism
  • Divine Fortress - Can be a significant toughness gain with a high block chance shield
  • Renewal - A sizeable heal on block, can be very powerful with this build due to the high block chance from Punish and Provoke
  • Wrathful - Another sizeable heal, this time on Condemn use, can outperform Renewal with high +health Globe healing on gear
  • Indestructible - Death protection, a huge survival gain in higher rift tiers.
  • Insurmountable - Extra wrath generation, lackluster compared to other options

Gear

Gearing goals are fairly simple:
  • Blade of Prophecy and Frydehr's Wrath are required to make Condemn effective as a wrath spender.
  • Angel Hair Braid and Depth Diggers give Punish a significant boost making it the obvious choice for wrath generators.
  • Ring of Royal Grandeur is required to make Akkhan's 6 piece in this build with Depth Diggers.
  • Unity or Stone of Jordan are interchangeable depending on drops and group vs solo play
  • Reapers Wraps generate a significant chunk of wrath, making them a solid starting choice for this build considering the ease of crafting them.
  • Strongarm Bracers with Vacuum are the highest damage combination available.
  • Amulets are largely interchangeable, just find anything with good rolls. Immunity Amulets are preferable for obvious reasons.
  • Cooldown Reduction (CDR) is important with 6pc Akkhan's for 100% uptime on Akarat's champion, but is largely ignorable before then.
  • +%Holy Damage, +%Condemn damage, and +%Punish damage are all significant increases in effective damage.

Gems

  • Gogok of Swiftness - Attack speed for extra wrath generation and damage as well as cooldown reduction after rank 25 to help with Akarat's uptime
  • Mirinae, Teardrop of the Starweaver - Benefits from holy damage and significantly increases single target damage, the build's biggest weakness
  • Bane of the Trapped - Increased damage against snared targets, not useful until 25 when it adds an aoe slow around you.
  • Bane of the Powerful - Best alternative to Bane of the Trapped, straight damage buff and elite damage.

Playstyle

Playstyle is pretty simple. Just run headlong into mobs and spam your Condemn and Punish. You'll get a number of buffs from blocks on Punish, and so long as 3+ mobs are alive, Condemn with Blade of Prophecy will be providing most of your damage.
