Build Guide
A less seen variant of the M6 sentry builds, lighting provides fast ramping damage with a bit of cc. Also being the only M6 build that doesn't need the rucksack. It is important to aim for as high sentry breakpoint as you can with this build, as most of your damage is coming from the lighting balls.Even without SoJ or WH I've been able to reach GR37 solo and the build seems stronger in groups.
Few things the balls do:
proc legendary affixes like wyrdward
proc lege gems (smite gem, lighting gem etc.)
proc the electrificed affix from mobs ALOT
What they don't do:
proc on attack effects more than once (like demon machine or ballistics)
proc lege affixes/gems by sentries
Pros:
Your own auto-attacks are actually worth a lot
mobs with big hitbox take multiple ticks from one ball when standing still (ie. Ghom gets 6 ticks)
Mobs who walk along the balls take ton of damage also missile dampening means infinitely stacking damage. (the balls are almost standing still inside the damp shield)
Your damage ramps up quickly (3 sentries ~10secs to have room full of balls)
Cluster brings you cc with stun
You open up one passive and one active skill because ballistics and multishot aren't worth taking on lighting.
Gear Flexible
(ie. belt slot easily filled with thundergod if you are like me who never got witching hour during the whole D3)
long hallways are a piece of cake
Cons:
mobs can move out of balls
you have to be shooting to maximize dps
reflect damage and electrified mobs need special attention
Worth experimenting:
Krider + Focus/Restraint
Currently I'm doing 14 mil crits on elites without SoJ with one lighting ball tick and I feel pretty competitive to the other builds. Experimenting on wreath of lighting gem on T6 Rifts for speedrunning and so far it looks promising. As meantioned earlier I got to solo GR37 with this build.
