Blizzard Announces BlizzCon 2009!

Mark your calendars, book your flights and pack your bags... Blizzard has just announced Blizzcon 2009! Here's the press release:

"Blizzard Entertainment gaming celebration to return to Anaheim Convention Center on August 21-22

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its fourth BlizzCon gaming convention, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. BlizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo universes. In response to the festival's increasing popularity, this year's event has been expanded from three convention halls to four.

"We've been amazed by the incredible response to each of our previous BlizzCon events," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We're pleased to be bringing the convention back to Anaheim this year, and we look forward to this new opportunity to meet Blizzard gamers from around the world."

BlizzCon will offer a wide variety of activities throughout the two-day event. In addition to serving as a gathering place for Blizzard Entertainment gaming communities, attendees will be able to enjoy:

  • Hands-on play time with upcoming Blizzard Entertainment games
  • Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Community contests with great prizes
  • Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment's game universes
  • A silent auction
  • More exciting activities and attractions to be announced
Further details, including ticket availability and pricing, will be announced on the official BlizzCon website, http://www.blizzcon.com, as the event draws closer.

To keep pace with the continued growth of World of Warcraft as well as development on other Blizzard Entertainment games, the company is currently hiring for numerous open positions. More information on available career opportunities can be found at http://eu.blizzard.com/en/jobs/."
So who here is planning on attending BlizzCon this year? I can't wait to get my hands on Diablo 3 once again and see what new things they've added in since last year's playable demo. Glad to hear they've expanded from three halls to four as well. August just can't come soon enough!

I plan on attending the event. Hopefully they'll rent out more space, and there won't be any problem obtaining tickets this time around.

Man ,these awesome BlizzCons is killing me ,cos I have no chance of getting from Latvia to California ,let alone get tickets + a hotel. T.T
I hope they reveal the rest of the classes. (I mean both ,not just 1) even though it's pretty unreal ,cos they will probably keep the other one for another BlizzCon or WWI

Good to hear about this announcement so soon. I'm definitely not leaving any friends to getting my tickets this time around because last year was a complete mess. When the time comes near an anyone wants to talk room booking to cut costs an stuff then pm me. Obviously won't talk up anything on that topic until tickets are confirmed ._. boy this years going to be a real rat race.

Are we going to have another contest for tickets to Blizzcon this year?

Hopefully this year it gets limited to members who actually PARTAKE in the community.

(I haven't checked on who won it last year, but I remember it was someone with like less then 10 posts)

I was about to make a post today that we should nag for a blizzcon date until I realized I was drunk and my post was stuffed with spelling mistakes. It makes me cry that it never comes to europe, cuzz I live in holland and its a no go for me (plane ticket, blizzcon ticket and especially the hotel ticket...) so I always have to watch the online coverages here. I would love to come over and help diablofans with their on-line coverage.. for god sake I would even lick their feet if they want! Well, I guess i'll have to do with the awesome online coverage again. Last years chat sure was fun! I stayed up till late at night to follow the coverages just to wake up a couple o' hours later to go to my daily bussines. Hope it will be just as much fun this year as well! I do think its unfair that the people in europe don't get a fair chance to play the demo, though.

Note: No, really, I would lick all of them feets clean if it would get me there!

That all depends on whether or not Blizzard offers us up some tickets to give out to the community. I'm sure they will. And there were a handful of people who had been active community members who received tickets, not just the newbies. But yeah, if we get tickets again, we'll probably make the post count requirements a bit more to ensure that a person has been around for a while.

Is there an age limit to this?

But still, tight! I wonder what the new MMO will be.
