Mike Morhaime showed a cinematic of Diablo 3, now we are getting a gameplay video.
The Barbarian in this video fights over 20 mobs and he dispatches them easily. You can destroy and interact with the environment -- this is physics at work here. You can access the character window similar to World of Warcraft. Weapons can be enchanted. The barbarian is now doing whirlwind to deal with powerful enemies. Some lootable chests have traps ... the example given -- the chest activated a trap where many skeletal casters spawned to attack the barbarian. Deckard cain is talking in-game now in a interesting interface for RPG.
We see now a Witch Doctor class that can summon Mongrels as pets. He can create a wall of zombies to block incoming attacks of mobs from reaching you while you annihilate them. The Witch Doctor is a ranger basicaly casting from afar. The gameplay is about to end but before they want to show us what a real fight is in multiplayer with a witch doctor, a barbarian and a rogue. Holy cow this huge beast with four legs and a huge body that takes haf the screen is fighting the three classes. The beast is named Siegebreaker assault beast. It has a lot of HP but the 3 classes are doing heavy damage to it. It dropped an amulet and gold. The creature just exploded after looting and hundreds of skeletons now fighthing onscreen. Diablo 3 logo seals the gameplay video.

PARIS, France – June 28, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo® III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment® Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.
“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.
Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®.
Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. Unless that's Diablo in his true form i don't think thats him
It has 3 heads visible there.
It is HYDRA, I believe.
HYDRA, and if no one saw my posts earlier... It says HYDRA in the fanart the game has been in the works since as early as 2001.
Here are bumps.
3 heads, 3 greater evils, Baal, Diablo, Mephisto?
Merger?
HYDRA, it says it right on there, this WAS project HYDRA.
2001, That is long ago.... If it started by then
Does your uncle knows the release date????:(
ha i STILL do that..........yea.......i know im lazy........
I was thinking that somehow he was able to be recalled, without the stone.. some other means of revitalizing/rejuvinating him. Magic,
runes, infusion of power of energy.. etc.
The area where the soulstone would be looks like a partially closed wound, with power glowing from underneath.
And let's face it, he's got to be in the game.. It is "Diablo" 3 after all. Even if it's just as simple as arriving to the place he is
being reborn just in time to kill him. You could still then have other new enemies/bosses take a larger roll in the story.
It looks too far done to me to take forever If I was Blizzard the smart money will be to release as fast as possible with tweaks of course to capitalize on this announcement
I think it will be worth the wait.
As for the lack of "dark" atmosphere in the game footage, keep in mind that D3 takes place 20 years after D2, so maybe the world has gone back to normal since then, and now the evil is creeping back into the lands.
The atmosphere looks great in my opinion, and the game play more than makes up for how the game looks.
To me graphics/visual is 30% important, gameplay is 70% important.
DIABLO DOES NOT HAVE 3 HEADS.
It is some sort of merger?
Diablo, Mephisto , Baal? Or others, merged to hydra?
And look on my last post.
Also
