This Is my Cold Sorceress (Wizard) Build:
Quick Info: This build was the talk of the wizard forums and became a "hot" topic! We discussed how the game would affect the build and how it would do in later difficulties. Through the help of many of the members of this forum, I came up with this build to tackle diablo 3! Originally this was a build to put out as much cold damage as possible!, but we quickly learned that "we will die" so tweeks had to be made. Cold armor was added to add a sence of defense along with runes to co-inside with a survival/cold damage output.
I will quickly go over how these skills will play out in a PVE matter, although by tweeking the skills and runes a little bit, you can quickly make this a formidable PVP build. I have made cold spells characters before in diablo 2 and world of warcraft, so it was only natural to make one as my starter character here in diablo 3! So without further a do, here is a play by play look at my skills:
1. Ray of Frost (RoF): This spell with the cold blodded rune (which reduces the cost to 0) will be my main primary skill.
2. Teleport: This spell will with the wormhole rune (which delays the cooldown of your next teleport) will be my secondary skill. Using teleport along with the other cold spells, I will "kite" my foes by freezing them, teleporting, and casting blizzard along with meteor (comet) to AOE damage. RoF will be used for single foes.
3. Blizzard (blizz): This spell with the unrelenting storm rune (which extends the duration of blizzard plus increases damage) will be part of my "bread and butter". Using this to take out big groups along with meteor. The build will be updated to either add or keep out frost nova, depending of the way the spells work in each difficulty.
4. Meteor (comet): This spell with the comet rune (which turns the meteor into a big ball of ice!) will be my other part of my "bread and butter". Using this along with blizzard to take out big groupd or cast along with other spells against bosses. Will be one of the spells that might stay or go, depending on how spells work in diablo 3 when it comes out, being replaced by frost nova if needed.
5. Ice Armor: This spell with the jagged ice rune (which damages and chills the enemy target if they hit me) will be part of my defensive skills to keep the creatures that actually happen to hit me abay.
6. Familiar: This spell with the sparkflint rune (which adds a % damage to all of my spells while active) will be part of my passive offensive skills to keep the damage up!. Depending on how it works once the game comes out, this spell will either stay or go.
My 3 Passive Skills: Obviously, Black Ice. Thats a no brainer. It increases the damage done to chilled and frozen targets! The second passive skill is, glass canon. This skil will be either kept or not depending on how much I get hit in the later difficulties. Blurr will take its place (as it is now) until decided in game. The third skill is Galvanizing ward. This will increase my time with Ice armor so I wount have to spam so much plus also generate health over time! (which is the main reason!)
So there you have it! a pure cold damage wizard! So if you see a trail of ice and dead creatures covered with snow, you will know, that the Cold Sorceress is nearby!

In response to your classic D2 cold sorc build, I felt it necessary to construct a similar D2 FIRE build using classic spells with a fresh new twist using added skill rune effects. Like you said in your post, if there are any 100 percent fire immunes out there, this build is pretty much worthless. But if not this will be a very fun build, putting out substantial damage, with decent survivabilty for those later difficulties. Let me know what you guys think.!
its an all fire build alright, but i feel like ( and its not your fault) the wizards fire attacks have been nerfed. u will b spamming shock pulse the entire time while you pop up a couple of hydras and wait for your meteor cooldown to pop, rinse, and repeat. i just feel like a fire wizard will get very boring quick... i almost wish you could put a rune into other attacks like desintegrate that changes the attack from arcane damage to fire dmg, or also with the blast attack, but there isnt.

its funny that everyone writing in these posts are low post ppl (not excluding me lol) trying to write "constructive posts" for a beta key! I see right thru you guys!! haha... give up, the chances are 1 in a 1,000,000 =pPosted in: PvP Discussion

tell me about it! the way these fansites designed this is a little questionable... almost as if they want to increase the ad revenue by u being at their page 24/7... tried for an hour, saw it wasnt worth it, gunna wait for release =) lolPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Congrats man! quick question though, are the picks for beta keys on the forums being drwan random? or are the mods picking the veterans or people they know? just wondering...Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient RepositoriesQuote from atumreHehhehe imagine an all Wizard team. 4 players
One goes for Slow Time and some defense, while the others take crit multipliers and hydras.
And then all teleport, all the time haha
Sounds too easy to be honest, but it would be amazing.
But we may forget about the late game resistances that players will have, and with their skills, as for Barbarian can take alot of damage.
On another note, hows the new patch 13 for the wizard? any good changes?
I believe they have changed Ray of Frost - Golden Runestone. It does not reduce it's cost to zero anymore but the cost's are still pretty low.
oh man, hopefully that didnt happen, that would mess up my build
/goes to check patch notes!

Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from GalenIt certainly makes sense and would make the player's life easier. With that said, based on recent blue posts that suggested the developers want players to have to take occasional breaks, I doubt we'll see anything like this implemented. You mentioned a cooldown period which would have a similar effect of users going to town to swap items/skills but It sounds like the powers that be would prefer players manually make changes than have them done in an instant on the fly.
Right, the player will still have a "break" though as they would have a certain cooldown. The whole purpose of this is to not constantly switch EVERY skill and rune!

So here is an idea for diablo 3 that can be maybe implimented in a patch (because god know we dont want to delay the game!)Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Having the ability to create an "off-hand" build that you could swap with a cooldown for different gameplay options without having to switch each skill and rune.
For example: having one build that fits a character profile to take out big groups with different spells (like AoE attacks, etc.), and then having another build that is created to take out rare mosnters/ bosses.
Build number one would focus on attacks to take out big groups with spells like AoE like i said before, and the second build that is already set up, can be swapped (with a cooldown) to better fit attacks to take down a rare monster or boss, with attacks that cause more damage to a single target. This way, you would not have to switch entire builds manually every time you want a build for big groups or a rare monster/boss. This would defenetly save the time of going to a safe zone or back to town to change an entire build that you would have to memorize, switch, then hop on your portal and continue playing.
What do you guys think?

Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient RepositoriesQuote from JckssnTeaming up 2-3 frostwizard's would be awesome since you gain benefits from freezing targets.
Good teamplay and frost wizards may be a übergroup.
Yeah Man! 2 frostwizards in PVP will be OP! constantly hitting crits as most of the time the targets will be frozen! hopefully you can join with friends and it is not just random teams!
On another note, hows the new patch 13 for the wizard? any good changes? I dont have beta so i cant tell. Hopefully we are getting close to release now that the last system has been worked on and is being tested!
2nd: i was also thinking of using the templar with this build, although the enchantress also would benifit this class. The templar would obviously serve the purpose of being a punching bag as I range attack, constanly using teleport to get him out of situations where he might be low on health.
what do you guys think?

nice video, im glad to see the new changes! the new rune system looks cool, and all the new stuff they added with this patch is nice as well. Ill just have to wait to get a BETA INVITE ( hint hint lol) to be able to check the patch out. Good job on posting the video, thanks!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
