NV over all is a strong bonus for the game. It quietly addresses all the people who hated the idea of skill switching.
It's an effective compromise - but the focus on overall game balancing here is disturbing.
Is D3 balanced perfectly? No. Is it balanced enough in the short term to focus these "resources" on additional content (pvp, e.c.t)? Yes.

I figured it was decent at least.. Should I just vendor it?

It's a rare, ilvl 62.
124dex
15% increased atk speed
111 str
+7 discipline
14% magic find
+ 1 socket.
Any value?
And as a side note, searching quiver/wizard sources in the ah blows atm

Perfect example - SPOILERS -
Diablo : blah blah blah - Tyreal meet your former lieutenant,
Izual : Tyreal, remember your old lieutenant ?
----
Like, really? It was so subtle that they wanted to remind us 3 seconds later that Izual was his lieutenant?
That happened like 10 times over the course of the game, and made me roll my eyes every time.

First, I will admit that the forced internet connection aspect is an understandable and completely acceptable gripe. While it doesn't bother me personally, I do see the point of your argument. Having an offline single player with no AH access would solve a lot of issues, especially launch related ones where I imagine at least 75% of people are basically playing single player anyway.
I understand the counter argument is security against exploits, considering there is an AH and RMAH. I think a preferable solution would just be to have offline content have no way of interacting with online content. That's obviously not the direction they went, so.. meh, so be it.
Everything beyond that in the post was complete non-sense though. Blizzard at fault because the servers didn't perform 100% perfect during a staggered WORLDWIDE launch where hundreds of thousands of people were basically making hundreds of thousands of games to play single player in? - LOL.
While in a perfect world, it would all have gone off without a hitch the truth of the matter is that is a very unrealistic expectation to have. You may be ignorant to how the internet and servers work, but even with the launch of a game half this size there are going to be issues that arise.
Your comment that Blizzard was "built" on MMOs is also false. They earned their reputation with single/multiplayer games. Back to that in a second though - assuming for a moment that comment was true, do you not think that would be credit for why things went as smooth as they did?
Perfect? No. Resolved quickly (especially considering the backass nature of tech/internet troubleshooting)? Hell yes.
But alas, Blizzard is not the house that MMOs built. WC 1, 2 and 3, Starcraft 1 and 2, Diablo 1, 2 and 3 and expansions vs 1 MMO (WoW + expansions).
So at the end of the day what I see is a lot of whining by someone with a raging case of entitlement. You think having a job, kid/s, and wife makes you some kind of martyr? lawl. I don't even get paid vacation days and yet you're complaining about what ultimately was a paid day of relaxation for you?
Suck it up, buttercup.

Is anyone else getting -less- excited as D3 release comes closer?
I mean, I've been waiting 10+ years - attacking and savoring every bit of information that comes to us. I tried for MONTHS to snag a beta key, knowing that it was just a tiny taste of the game.
Even after finishing the beta with every character (thanks again diablofans for the key btw), I had so much love and excitement for the game. OMG, NEED A RELEASE DATE!!!
Then.. we get one, and it's not even that far away. Now that my CE is ordered, the day set and counting down..
I don't really care anymore?
How can that be? lol.
Especially when everyone else is still in a frenzy, mapping out entire days centered around a mid-night release and missing work.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited to finally play it and make progress. It's just I'm not nearly as excited as I've been the past few months.
Am I weird?

First off :
I am -not- interested in selling my account, or "renting" the account for any money or profit. Don't ask me, I don't want it.
My account is locked with an authenticator, but thankfully you don't need it to log into D3. So no, you won't be able to steal my account - and no, you can't play my copy of SC2 either.
So what's in it for me? Well, I was getting burned and stressed out over not getting a key until DFans hooked me up. I'd like to pay that forward.
So what I'm offering is 24hrs, per person to ... do whatever you want to do. A couple of things..
1: Don't spoil it for everyone. Don't delete any characters/items/gold that isn't yours.
I'm sure I should have a bunch more rules than that, but the first sign of a problem I stop this and you all find your own way in.
So how am I picking people?
Reply to this thread. Your join date and post count are going to be huge factors in my selection - however feel free to share why you think I should pick you. Again, it's 24 hours at a time, so I plan to be helping out a bunch of people between now and the beta close.
Unless a bad apple comes along and ruins it..

The paladin is too, but someone said the monk fills the "Holy guy" type.. Which is true.
So how about a non-holy paladin : Shadowknight. Those of you who have played EQ will know the concept I'm talking about. The WoW DK was close, but less Barb like power and more shield like controll.
Druid / Shadowknight. First xpac characters, you heard it here first.

The WD seems to get a ton more of the "x monsters killed in one ability" xp bonuses. They can seemingly mow through groups as fast as the monk and pick up the "x monsters killing spree" bonuses at the same time.
My beta WD leveled far faster than my other toons - just throw down the grasping hands (or eels), shoot a ton of poison darts while the zombie dogs maul.
Even with all that flying into groups, I would still rack up the one ability bonuses.. which made me wonder if the grasping hands/eels kills count regardless of when during the spell it happens.

This sounds like 100% blizzard logic to me.
Sure it's true, but I'd hate knowing some awesome concept was shelved simply because they're famously stuck to this way of thinking.
All signs would say Paladin for sure. If they're doing it to balance the value of STR from items, they could also pump the value of shields up considerably in the same sweep. It has the benefit of being a pretty sensible idea from a lore standpoint as well. It would be easy to push his role as a hybrid by making his melee dps formidable.
Hoping they don't take the obvious route though, my fingers would be crossed for more of a caster type. The wizard fills his niche nicely with the elemental magic and discipline. I'd say more of an evil/dark type of caster. Warlock, necromancer, blood mage style. Maybe a more deliberate caster that takes a couple seconds to set up a few different spells, resulting in one huge display.

Yes you can. I don't know why you'd want to..
But it's an option in the gameplay settings. Just enable "Elective mode" and you can put whatever skills wherever you want.
The option never saves though...

See what I did there? Even the snobby elitists who make repeat topics about how there are too many repeat topics need to whine I guess.
What is really going on? Looks as though someone with an over-blown sense of entitlement believes he should get more rewards than the next guy. Typical internet elitist.
I really think that is the core of most people's anger towards new members/posters on this site. Not the redundant threads (which I will admit there are) - not the less than constructive replies either.(which again, I admit there are) Those 2 things are a part of -every- large internet forum community.
No, the problem everyone has is that they are angry that these :"new": guys are winning beta keys they want. They should have a better chance - and if not a better chance, then they should have won already. I bet every person who is grumpy about new posters and repeat threads would magically calm down if suddenly granted a key. This is why I roll my eyes every time someone gets all up in arms because the belief that their post count = how much more valuable they are. Reminds me of those GearScore snobs in WoW.
If it looks as though it's "A topic that has been discussed before" then -gasp- don't open it?
Seriously - it's not hard to grasp. The guy who has been here for 2 hours is just as entitled to post and be apart of the community as the guy who has been here 2 years. If that's not cool with you, build your own tree-fort and you can institute whatever rules you like.
Just sayin'
:::Edit:::: ... PS, I'm one of those <20 post guys who got a beta key from dfans. . Why? Because instead of fighting and complaining about who was/wasn't getting keys, I just posted because I liked to be here.
Funny how that works.

This is the right attitude to have. I too hate Facebook and Twitter for the same reasons. The lack of immaturity on this site is what finally brought me from the shadows to actually posting here.
Just contribute to that, and it'l work out.

Honestly, I don't really know.
Recently I stopped lurking on the site and started joining in on conversations.
Then, when they announced the beta contests, I figured I'd be a little more active on the forums.. But I didn't have the stomach to deal with the facebook/twitter routes. Then a couple of days ago, I had kind of given up. Instead of posting on random threads, I only posted on one or two a day that really interested me - like this one. Threads where I could type up a decent post that was more than a single idea.
I even started a couple of threads that I thought would for sure turn into flame wars - despite being actual topics for thought. Much to my amazement, the community here kept the discussions largely positive and on topic.. Topics which I explained my thoughts and reasoning to make sure it didn't seem as though I was trolling.
Then today, I log on to a private message with a key. A key I'm very thankful for, and one I intend to use very often for it's purpose ; helping to fine tune the beta.
To show my thanks, Diablofans has earned my loyalty. I intend to be a member of this community for a very long time, and to be as constructive as I can with my time here.
Basically, just act like an adult on the forums. Make meaningful posts, participate in conversations and hope for the best.
Like I've been saying for the past week or two now, we'll all be playing soon. Just stay positive.

Instead of trying to get a key, I chose to just post constructively and let whatever happens happen.
Lady luck is on my side, and I was blessed - so stay strong friends.. They really are giving out what they can to us.
On to fight the good fight!!
Oh, and thanks again DFans.
...
And again
and again
and again.
...
Oh, and thank you, if I forgot to mention that.

1: They don't need more testers at this point. When / if they do, they simply flag more accounts and let people in for free. This means they already have a near endless pool interested testers chomping at the bits for access to help them.
2: It creates hype. All these people who are falling over themselves for beta keys is creating free publicity. On top of that, contests like the ones Dfans is offering allow an easy way for them to further increase exposure.
3: They aren't money grubbing bastards. The fact of the matter is, no matter which side of the "MMO Subscription fee" argument that you fall on you have to admit that few titles these days show the polish of Blizzard titles. This is why they are allowed "when it's done" release dates - they've earned it. If they were truly money hungry bastards, we would have an unfinished product in our rigs now while we wait for the patch to fix it and make it playable.
Now don't confuse #3 with the concept of them being in this for charity. They are a business afterall, and one owned by Activision. The thing that typically gets lost here though, is all of us generally agree with their madness.. Except for two issues..
We want it to be done now, and we want to play the beta now if it isn't.
Surely though, when looking at the bigger picture of the issue, no one here can honestly think a buy-in beta would be a good decision.. From either a testing standpoint nor a PR standpoint.
Don't worry friends.. We will play soon. I have faith.
