Quote from asfastasicanQuote from darkshadowx8I just can't realistically see them pushing the game back into Spring. That's not "early" 2012, IMO.
With a 2-3 month release-after-announce window, December 10th is not that unreasonable of a date for an announcement. That places the game anywhere between February-March. (January if we're REALLY lucky)
I don't get why a number of people here would be surprised about the game being released in April or beyond. I'd love to see the game get released as much as the next guy, but I don't see any clear indications that the game is completely ready for release. Where are these signs of the game being 100% complete and ready to ship? Or even 95%? It just seems like a mix of anticipation and good will from the fans if you ask me.
They could have tested and still could test other aspects of the game. I'm convinced that if they release super early in January then the game won't have the polish or features they intended to release the game with in the first place. When it comes to things like the weapon scaling damage with all skills, to them just implementing the RMAH and them not even beta testing the PvP arena a little bit, I don't see much for us to go on. Even now when we're supposed to be this close to release, not all of the game's mechanics feel concrete enough.
If they do announce the release date at the VGA's it probably won't be an early date like January. Don't be upset if it ends up being 2nd Quarter, guys.
D2 was delayed an entire half a year until the summertime when it was first released. I think hitting the brakes on the hype train just a little bit would do us all a lot of good!
The game is ready and finished, this was said a long time ago, the game can be played from start to finish. I think the problem lies with the RMAH and all the legal work required to get that off the ground, not only the US, but all the different countries that have different laws that come into play regarding the RMAH. I also remember someone saying in the an interview, that quite a few of the changes they are making to game(not sure what the exact change was, something balance related i think either with runes or maybe the weapon damage change) are only because they have the time to make them while other things are being finished (i think other things refers to all these legal things that need to be taken care of). Plus that post in the korean forums about RMAH or even the game itself being delayed in korea while legal kinks are worked out suggests, this is what is holding the game back.
EDIT: As far as polish is concerned, Blizzard is known to be one of the best in the business, but no game can ever be polished to work 100% as intended, there will always be bugs and kinks that will get fixed along the way. I THINK the game is ready and I HOPE all the legal work is near complete and we will get it very soon.
