WoW's expansion was officially announced during the BlizzCon keynote speech. Just as everyone was guessing, the title is "Cataclysm" and the new races are Goblin for Horde and Worgen for Alliance. Azeroth has been completely redesigned for the expansion, there's even a pool of lava running through The Barrens!
Goblin should stay neutral. They would loose half their business deals if they started fighting the Alliance.
Worgen would be Horde if it had to be one of them. Horde gets all the "monsters".
Cataclysm. Yeah I heard they trademarked the word/phrase. Still seems a little on the short side.
The Burning Crusade
The Wrath of the Lich King
Cataclysm
Shouldn't it be a few more words than that, even excluding the word "the"
But they have pulled this sort of thing before. So I'm not completely surprised.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I think this is going to make me boycott Blizzard. I cannot f**king stand how they keep putting aside more important projects (sc2 and d3) for WoW.... and i don't care if it is their money maker.... WoW is going to die off and blizz needs to adhere to the needs of us d3 and sc3 fanboys....
Wow the rumors were true. Those people that guessed it are right on.

Making an expansion takes less time than making and perfecting an entire game, not to mention this expansion will probably make them more money than any new game they release, its simple math. Unfortunate, but you can't really expect anything different. Even without the WoW xpac, D3 probably wasn't going to be released in 2010. The fact of the matter is that D3 is a huge game and is obviously gonna take a lot of time. All boycotting Blizzard is going to do is make it so you miss out on some of the best games out there.
I'm actually interested in this. Some of the changes just posted on MMO-C from the panel are interesting.
I might play cataclysm just as something to do while I wait for D3. I've been waiting for rated battlegrounds since 2006, it'll be interesting to see if they find a way to do it well. Hopefully they will have learned from all their horrible arena rating systems how to do one well.
Seriously..... Now i'm even more mad. WoW has completely and utterly RAPED the lore of the Warcraft World.... I have no idea how Warcraft 4 is going to recover from this....
because this changes WoW fundamentally, not just adding a bit of endgame.
Ha. Another one falls for expansion promises..
I really wish this cash cow would just die and bring D3 one year closer. Most people I know that were active at one point, including me, don't get a single drop of enjoyment out of WoW anymore. It's stale to the point where expansions don't do anything to help it, since it's the fundamentals and the overall look/feel of the game that have gotten boring, and those won't really change.
Alright I just watched the video. Does this mean that the entire landscape is going to be changed/on fire and chaotic?? I don't really like that idea too much
And will it look chaotic for non-cataclysm players?
In WoW, they have a system called zone-phasing where a certain area will have multiple "levels" that you cycle through by questing or doing other things. When a zone goes to it's next phase, such things as NPCs appearing, mobs infesting the area, the entire landscape changing (Cataclysm), or a few other things may take place. One of the problems with this system, however, is that in a few phased areas, players will only be able to see other players that are on the same phase as them.
So my guess is that the landscape will stay the exact same as what it currently is for non-expansion players.
