heh, we aren't animals because right now I'm on the internet and I'm typing on a keyboard while listening to music and thinking about doing homework later. AND I can touch my thumb to all of my other fingers effectively. We use tools, i don't think any other animals do that? I'm guessing Inevitable heard that comment from someone else and repeated it without thinking about it for 2 seconds, or maybe I'm missing something.
I believe that a child does not view violence the way you think they view it. They have some sort of their own opinion about it, so it often affects them less than it affects teens or some adults. How am I different from any kids? I'm not.
You certainly were different than me as a kid. Just cuz you had these experiences and were perfectly fine with them doesn't mean other kids could. That seems to be your justification here.
jesus christ this got off topic. guess its kinda the same topic though, but whatever.
what'd u guys think of my first draft? i'm gonna throw in the vegetation (people who turn into vegetables playing so much) counterarguement in there somewhere.
Alrighty, I'm in the process of making the first draft. Its due this thursday apparently... Thanks for your input it is helpful and reassuring that I'm making sense:D I'll post my draft in here if you guys want to read it.
This is great feedback guys. Thanks a lot. My draft isn't due til next tuesday i think, but I'm actually gonna enjoy writing this one so I might actually do some research and what not. I got class in like 30 minutes, and I won't be back til tonight then I'll comment on your guys' feedback.:D
i'll comment on your earlier post tomorrow Siaynoq, im too dam tired right now haha. and its English 300 hmm i think that's equivilent to English 1A at a University. my community college changed the names of their classes, but its the first one you take for credit towards transfering.
ouch thanks for the heads up. most the articles i read it talks about violence in games. not like are they too time consuming or are they just making us dumber. and when i think of violent i think of, well GTA, but also like gears of war. i played it for like a couple minutes and it was pretty gross. i posted the site with some pros and cons. pretty good site.
if you ask me, i'd say RPG's and RTS's enlighten people about stuff. like battle formations, history, medieval weaponry, government systems sort of. i personally always thought of games as books with visuals and that which you can interact with.
So I was trying to come up with a controversial topic for my english class and I stumbled upon an article about youth gaming and the pros and cons of them and I'm considering writing my essay on it. Of course I'll be arguing in favor of video games. I figured the teacher would be sick of hearing about the war in iraq, abortion, gun control, euthanasia and all those other repeated topics and he'd like to hear about youth and gaming.
I'm wondering what you guys all think, considering you are all gamers, about youth and gaming. Is it OK? Should it be somehow more limited? Or should it just be up to their parents? Are the age ratings enough? Do children really learn stuff from it? Or is it just something to kill time? Is it even something we should care about? Are FPS's giving games a bad rep? haha

So yeah, I'd like your feedback, thanks;)
http://www.mediafamily.org/facts/facts_effect.shtml kinda sums up the pros and cons.
