Triskaidekaphobia, is a fear of the number 13.
Paraskevidekatriaphobia: Fear of Friday the 13th
Many Christians have long believed that Friday was unlucky because it was the day of the week when Jesus was crucified. The number 13 was believed to bring bad luck because there were 13 people at The Last Supper. Since there were 12 tribes of Israel, that number was considered lucky.
Adam was created on a Friday. It is also believed that Eve tempted Adam with the Forbidden Fruit on a Friday, and that later both died on a Friday.
The great flood began on a Friday
The Temple of Solomon was destroyed on a Friday
The Jews murmured 13 times against God in the exodus from Egypt, that the thirteenth psalm concerns wickedness and corruption, that the circumcision of Israel occurred in the thirteenth year.
In Spain, Friday the thirteenth is held to be an unlucky day. So is it esteemed by Buddhists and Brahmins. The old Romans called it nefastus, from the utter overthrow of their army at Gallia Narbonensis. And in England the proverb is that a Friday 13 moon brings foul weather
Thirteen was also a sinister number in Norse mythology. Loki, one of the most evil of the Norse gods, went uninvited to a party for 12 at Valhalla, a banquet hall of the gods. As a result, he caused the death of Balder, the god of light, joy, and reconciliation. Loki tricked Balder's blind brother, Hod, into throwing a sprig of mistletoe at Balder's chest. Since mistletoe was the only thing on Earth fatal to Balder, the beloved god fell dead.
During the Middle Ages, the superstition against Friday the 13th grew. On Friday, October 13, 1307, King Philip IV of France ordered the arrests of Jaques de Molay, Grand Master of the Knights Templars and sixty of his senior knights in Paris. Thousands of others were arrested elsewhere in the country. After employing torture techniques to compel the Templars to "confess" to wrongdoing, most were eventually executed and sympathizers of the Templars condemned Friday the 13th as an evil day.
In the 18th century, the HMS Friday was launched on Friday the 13th. It was launched by the british government in an effort to refute the belief that friday the 13th was unlucky. It was never heard from again. Since then, ships are not usually launched on that date.
'Black Friday' has been regularly used to label days of significance within the British culture. This was the name given to December 6 1745 in the British Isles. This was the day that information reached London (UK) that the Young Pretender had reached Derby (UK). The threatened General Strike was cancelled on 15 April 1921 affecting the stance of the British Labour Movement (UK). The Government (USA) flooded the open market with gold to bring down prices on 24 September 1869 ruining the livelihoods of many speculators in USA.
This is traditionally the sixth day of the week. The name given to this day in ancient Rome was 'dies Veneris' as is was a day dedicated to Venus. Later the French named the day 'Vendredi' believed to have derived from the same origin. In northern countries the closest equivalent to the Goddess Venus was 'Frigg' or 'Freya' with the day becoming known by the Anglo-Saxons as 'Frige dag', later to Friday.
The serial murderers Jack The Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy, Albert De Salvo, Harvey Glatman, Herman Mudgett, Herbert Mullin, Daniel Rolling, Lucien Staniak, Peter Sutcliff, Wayne Williams all have 13 letters.
13 is the number of demon generals in satans army
13 as to 1/3 which is how God will destroy Earth and Man
ie-1/3 of man will be consumed by fire 1/3 of the earths waters will turn to blood 1/3 of the stars will be taken from the sky
