Atm they are only considering one game mode for launch as far as I know (TDM). Blizzard is not the kind of company who would just go "Hey, they want X mode, let's just throw it in there". No, they would make sure that it is properly done. I mean what is the point of CtF if it turns out that the only viable class is the Demon Hunter? They have to solve such issues without creating separate solutions for each mode since that is way too confusing.
But Jay said that pvp will be terribly unbalanced, so, who cares about the CD in different game modes anyway?
It will be terribly unbalanced, but they wouldn't even create a PvP mode in the first place if they didn't intend to make it playable. Balance issues is not normally a problem since the matchmaking system will find fair fights anyway, and that is why they have made it very clear that it won't be an eSport. In an eSport there are tournaments and rankings, and obviously the best builds that would be considered extremely OP would dominate. So when they say that it will be unbalanced they are not saying that it will be unplayable, and the will do their best to make sure that it is enjoyable as a casual game mode. Adjusting cooldowns and crowd control durations is a part of that.
Again. Diablo 3 is a casual game not a competitive game. Every choice Blizzard makes will be in favor of casual gameplay. If you want competitive gameplay you are looking at the wrong title, and arguing that Blizzard is making a mistake by not making it competitive is like arguing that IceFrog made a mistake by not making DotA casual.
Honestly? If D3 will or not be an esport its not up for blizzard to decide.
I mean, i doubt there will be professional players like in sc2 with $200,000 tournaments, but pvp WILL be played competitively, IF there is a community to support it.
Take DOTA as an example, everytime a OP hero was released all the major leagues would put him under a banlist, in TF2 unbalanced items are banned from competitions, in D3 something like that may happen, with leagues banning OP skills, limiting the amount of legendaries, etc.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
I didn't have a problem with one death per round but I prefer respawns over it. What is better than killing someone once? Killing them twice. After that? Killing them thrice! Hat trick! That will get some people raging, looking forward to it.
I too think that blizzard should have kept in more options though. The game isn't out yet, so they can still put the one death per round in again if they want.
When u kill some1 9000 times in 1 min it gets boring really fast.
How would you know? You weren't invited to play the new PVP mode were you.. ? It's pretty stupid how all of you are "omg this sucks so bad boo hoo boo hoo", when you guys haven't even tried it out to determine how fun or not fun it is. If you don't like it, don't play it. Pretty simple if you ask me. :/
Because we've been playing D2 for over 11 years and we know exactly what to expect from D3 pvp?
Seriously, if you think D3 will be completely different from what we had in D2 then you really are being fanatic about it. D3 pvp as it is, is exactly the same as a Diablo 2 duel game, with one exception, there is no entrance/corpse to camp.
btw, that ''OMg iTs BlizzArd you noT EVen Plyaied the GaME yet NuuuB'' is the worst argument possible.

Actually I don't care if I win or lose, only about having fun doing either thing.
I bet they can't have both modes at the same time for balance reasons. A skill (such as the 2 min cd ones mentioned by Blizz) might be possible to use once per round in last man standing, but in deathmatch that would equal many fights without having access to one of your most powerful skills. If they reduce the cooldown to suit deathmatch better then it might cause balance issues in last man standing.
They will alter cooldowns for PvP, but I doubt they would do it for each separate game mode since that would mean way too much confusion for casuals. And Diablo 3 is very directed towards casuals.

You were always fighting the same person multiple times. In the old arena, you just did it in multiple rounds.
I am happy with this change. I would hate to die right off the bat and have to sit there and wait for up to 3 mins while the rest dueled it out. Either way, we are fighting the same team for the same duration. They just got rid of people having to wait to fight again. Looking at the old videos, it seems that the rounds ended too quickly anyway. Why wait for a whole fresh reset when you can just keep the action going in the same round.
LMS makes the game more tense and strategic, CS wouldn't be the hit it was if it had respawn timer. Blizzard MUST at least give the players the option to choose the game mode.
