Eh, either way I don't think it's ever gonna happen. As a form of protest, I think I'm just gonna start disregarding all forum etiquette from now on. Since there are no consequences for doing so anyway.
Sometimes it's fun to give the sign to Snotspill just cause he goes all insane with what he thinks is power.
And that really is the best time of the game to use firewall, when you have all those little carvers bunched up in a room.
I understand that admins/mods have lives. But no one is asking them to be around all the time. I just wish that one of the admins could be around just long enough to appoint the new moderator. You can have a life and still drop by the site once a month.
Of course he's a good guy. I'm just saying I feel bad that when anyone has a complaint or a demand they always feel they have to go to Elfen about it. When there are other moderators as well as admins who could also handle those situations.
I just noticed something. Isn't Snotspill the guy who stole the tavern sign in Diablo 1?
Good ol' Snotspill. He's all like, "Hey - You that one that kill all! You get me Magic Banner or we attack! You no leave with life! You kill big uglies and give back Magic. Go past corner and door, find uglies. You give, you go!"

Anyway, we do seem to need someone to kill those spam bots when Elfen is offline.
I feed bad for Elfen sometimes just because everyone expects him to be the one to solve all these problems. Our absent admins aside, there are also other moderators on the site who also leave everything up to Elfen.
For the most part, I would just limit my moderating to deleting spam bot threads or merging threads that are too similar. You know, just the most basic things.
It would certainly be an award for post counts that I would greatly appreciate. I've never wanted anything else for my posting except to have my own custom title.
Yeah, I didn't think it would. We already have a pretty good consensus of who would be a good moderator. I only know there's a few I wouldn't want to have as moderators.
It's common for threads to break down in such a way, isn't it?
Seriously though, maybe there should be a poll listing possible candidates, then close that poll after a certain date and that person can be the new moderator. Even though we already have some good people willing to do it anyway. I'm just wondering why those people haven't been made mods by now.
As far as getting rid of useless threads that belong in the spam section, I think the mods do a good job of getting rid of those. When people are acting like idiots and are flaming/trolling, well, there are lots of users willing to give those people a logic smackdown. At any rate, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have another moderator.
I still think mutton would be good, as well as Acidreign. Phrozen would do a good job except that he's moving back to Sweden and isn't sure how often he'll be on this forum once he's back.
My question is, is if you become a moderator, are you given access to the sections that allow you to delet/close threads? And if someone is blatantly flaming/trolling, what are the typical actions a mod or admin would take against them? The other forum I'm on, I see people banned. But that was usually after that user received several warnings first.
