you also have to conisder the personality of posters. for instance lets say someone who is on the commitee gets into an arguement with someone about the topic of the thread. if he wanted to he could just delete the post if he was angry at him. so that should also be conisidered.(though might not happen that someone would get angry)
I would imagine then the acknowledged need to carefully choose this committee. To appoint it with members who have ideals, but are also pragmatic, sensible, and rational. It sounds like a rigorous screening process. I lack sensibility for sure. It's difficult enough for me to exercise it when just moderating the rest of the forum.

A clan forum is not for discussing news, games, movies, books, sports that's what the regular forum is for. A clan forum is more of as side project I mean, you don't even have to be part of it.
I'm starting to see what a clan forum is not, but I still don't understand what a clan forum is. What type of side projects might that be? The whole thing still sounds to have an roleplaying element to it.

Not for talking about announcements and to have them free of spam and flood.
I'm sure members of this clan forum would be carefully chosen enough to not have to worry about them spamming.

I haven't begun any deliberations into who I would want as a commitee member as of yet. Sure I have a few ideas, and yes they are people with fairly high post counts, but A clan forum hasn't even been made official yet. It's still an idea.
As Ferret pointed out in another thread, it may be wise first to see what the announcement is this weekend. Because for all we know (while obviously many new members will remain), there could be a ton more who still choose to leave regardless, thus kind of making things more quiet again around here.
I'm also curious how much commitment this whole thing requires. Too many rules and regulations might make the whole thing too high maintenance and people could lose heart. But there should still be enough rules and regulations that it seems official enough that it is fun to participate in.
Also, instead of just Travincal, I suggest combining the city's name with a real city. I personally like the suffix stan at the end of country names, but that's just an example of what I mean.

Well, the way I looked at this forum is basically a single section (e.g., no divisions) for serious, long-term discussions. E.g., if someone does want to discuss WWI, it's just one thread, and it's only the members of that forum, so it wouldn't ever get as flooded, and, members who were accepted into that committee are not rule-breakers or at least not too big ones.
Still I'm not sure what you mean by serious long-term discussions. If, as Elfen says, it's not really for discussing games, news, etc, what is it we're talking about that would justify its own section?
