Travincal is actually view able by all members, that is were I will put the Clan FAQ (with requirements and stuff).
The actual clan forum is hidden, you can only view it if you have been granted access.

Well, Diablo III was announced and I can only imagine what's the forum going to turn into. Give us this back-of-the-school-bus thingy now. I say 500 posts and 1 month for members... And hello everyone on this glorious day. I woke up 44 minutes ago. Missed everything. And my avatar is gone.
I see if I can't get started on some aspects of this forum.
Avatars should hopefully be back up today, failing that they will be up when things die down. there are about 4000 people here.

You want people that have been here 10 days in this forum? How you think they got to 100 posts in 10 days.
Maybe 300 or 500, or even 1000 would suit better. Unless of course, in addition you have a time contraint. Which is at the minimum often 1 month.

100 posts aye? Pretty sure I've mention this, but I along with several others can knock that out in 10 days.

By the way, will this new clan section be visible to the public?
That is the point, it is removed from society, like the necromancers in their underground city.

Because the prophecy hasn't come to be fullfilled yet? (see above)
I don't know how to make a forum. I only know how to make forum groups. Making forums is Jetrall's forte.

It will start when wind and rain pounds the earth, and mountains of fire come tumbling down, and a flaming star falls from above, and the sea rises up and swallows two hundred thousand people, a star falls from heaven to earth and to Him is the key to the bottomless pit, and the Beast is freed from the bottomless pit and wreaks havoc upon the earth.
When the Jews return to Zion, When a comet rips the sky, When the Holy Roman Empire rises, Then you and I must die. From the Eternal Sea, He rises, creating armies on either shore, turning man against his brother, till man exists no more."
No seriously, when the forum is made. Anyone seen Jetrall around lately? He should probably be paying attention to this, as it will probably be him doing most of the work in regards to this.

Anyone here ever riden in a school bus, and down the back were the older, cooler kids? And they sort of just hung out being cool?
That is kind of what the clan forum and it's members are. They hang out in the back seat, free of all the crap up front. Whiny little kids, pulling each other's hair and flicking boogers at each other, and having random stupid arguements that you sit there scratching you head wondering what they hell they are talking about.

what is the point of this new forum clan?
what will it bring to the forums?
what was the idea for starting this?
-Hard to define exactly. Multiple reasons, some easier to describe that others. (kinda need to read the whole thread.)
-An area wherein new comers cannot spam or flood threads with the same pictures over and over and over again, and offer no new oppinions or thoughts, as they cannot access it.
-People wanted an area free of newcomer's flood and spam, this was the closest they can get.

Why do we care about what other forums did? I just want a section that's separate from those newbs over there *points at Diablo 3 Chat*. I don't care what's in it. I care who's in it.
People are having trouble understanding it's purpose. And I am struggling to come up with a decent or complete answer for them.

Well it's hard to think of a purpose for just one clan. There are few sites I know of with only the one.
The best example of forum clans that comes to mind is www.zeldauniverse.net where there are three clans, each one representing 1/3 of the Triforce from Legend of Zelda, Din (The Goddes of Power), Nayru (The Goddes of Wisdom) and Faore (The Goddess of Courage).
For us, we might want to base our 3 clans on say the Prime Evils. Terror, Hatred and Destruction.
A clan forum does in fact have sub sections. Usually one for the clan, which only members of that clan can view, and a general area for all clans, where everyone comes to together and more often than not dukes it out in a series of clan compititions and a tally is keep to see which clan rules supreme.
I am struggling to find how the section would work with only the one clan. www.sorcerers.net does have a single clan (one inwhich you buy entry into by way of donation) but it's section is mostly for discussing the clan, and ways in which they can make it better, or perks they want to see for the clan. Avatars are actually a clan perk at that site.

I would imagine then the acknowledged need to carefully choose this committee. To appoint it with members who have ideals, but are also pragmatic, sensible, and rational. It sounds like a rigorous screening process. I lack sensibility for sure. It's difficult enough for me to exercise it when just moderating the rest of the forum.
Much thought must go into this yes.
I'm starting to see what a clan forum is not, but I still don't understand what a clan forum is. What type of side projects might that be? The whole thing still sounds to have an roleplaying element to it.
I have not, nor am I a member of a forum with just one clan, thus I do not truly know how it works for just one. When there is more than one, there are often interclan debates and compititions.
The RP of which you speak, is not the primary function. Nor should it be.
As Ferret pointed out in another thread, it may be wise first to see what the announcement is this weekend. Because for all we know (while obviously many new members will remain), there could be a ton more who still choose to leave regardless, thus kind of making things more quiet again around here.
Yet another factor in why I am not so hasty in my decisions. That and there is no section yet.

Stop getting ahead of yourselves. We don't even have a section yet.

I think the point of the committee is to alleviate the load on the current mods/admins.
Somewhat, but the commitee members only mod one section. As soon as this section is mad any mod or admin atuomatically gains access to it. I think. So basically anyone who's name is blue or red will be able to mod this section. So in addition to modding the commitee's job is the applications, they send out the hyperthetical questions to the applicants, read over them and decide if they are worthy of entry.

I just like the idea of an RP for that particular forum. I don't think there is a big demand in RP's anyway.
Not right now no. I guess not.
I just thought it would be nice for it to be a perk of the exclusive thread (if one is imposed).
We are getting slightly ahead of ourselves, here, we don't even have a clan forum. We should concertrate on that first, then decide if we want any little bonuses, like RP threads.
So how/when are you guys going to make that committee and who do you want to see in it?
Well naturally it would be fair to say I would make rank. As would a handful of other moderators and admins I would imagine. I am not saying all mods and admins, but they would be familiar with forum policy and how things work from the mods perspective.
I would then look to any member of forum who has had some experience in moderation and/or administration before.
But before I can do that, I would need the clan section.
