in 2017, we are far from that point now with internet/multiplayer being much more accessable. gaming is much more global and social. doing same thing today is not okay anymore. devs are responsible for those social interaction between players. its not something luxury anymore. its fundemental.
That's where it's wrong.
I can agree with everything else, but the baseline is that not every game needs PvP. Like at all. People asking for it is not enough of a reason to make it.
People is asking for Paragon rework, itemization rework, return of trading, more sets costantly. Any of these requests is being supported and just recently devs gave offical answers about some of these - and they said that endgame structure and Paragon are fine and nothing new or reworks are planned.
PvP isn't even considered by devs. We can discuss a lot about it and again i agree it would be a nice addition for some players plus it could be extremely entertaining. Still, devs aren't even considreing it and given how the game is not in maintenance mode but in a very similar status, i simply cannot see it happen anytime soon.
Who knows what will happen in 2 years. But for the moment i've learned to not expect anything from the game anymore and just enjoy it as it is right now.
Lol - really people still think PVP will be in D3? It was announced before vanilla and before they actually realized how screwerd was their inital design.
RoS fixed some of that making the game a pure PvE experience.
Adding PVP to D3 will be useless, an hell to balance out and not required at all (plus all the effort/resource required to create a decent system). If people want to stroke their epeen bragging about how good they are at killing other players, there are better games for that than D3. no reason to add PVP in here.
People all forget one thing: in D2 "PVP" was basically about entering a game, setting yourself hostile to other players and nuke the shit out of each other. There was no structure, no rewards, no anything except for ears. Everything was created and managed by the community itself without any intervention from Blizzard. Gear was the same, stats were the same, skills were the same.
In D3 you have the same in the form of skirmish (dedicated area where you are hostile to other players). No one is stopping anyone from organizing tournaments and similar events, though given the current power creep everything is basically a oneshot fest thus not really ineteresting due to stat inflation.
Yes, PVP was advertised. It's Blizzard fault for not bringing it. But also Josh Mosqueira stated it very clearly, the game has no room for PVP currently and likely never will given the gameplay systems and the focus (or lack of it) of the dev team.
