The game is so far from being complete that I don't even see what the need to worry about something like BoE in this point in time. Blizzard has never released a game that they thought had something that geared toward the needs of other people. Also PvP CANNOT exist without PvE at least with regards to diablo. PvE'ers kill the monsters and through a long line of trades end up giving gear to people who just PvP.
Now you could turn PvP into what WoW has and have arena's and battlegrounds and be able to get PvP only gear from doing this these things. But then that would be the most un diabloish thing ever. Yes BoE can be annoying (I know because I played WoW for a short amount of time and the biggest thing I hated was BoE and BoP stuff) But if Blizz thinks that having certain things that are BoE will make the economy less like a wave that is high at one point and comes crashing down at the next. We should just trust them and wait till the game comes out. And if something is wrong that shouldn't be then you can guarantee that they will come out with a patch that will fix it.
Blizzard pull your heads out of you arses please. I've been a D2 fan from the day it was released, up until the day you announced respecs. It seems like you just want to wussify d2 a little to gradually work all us long time d2 addicts into the true wussification that will manifest itself in D3. Nobody can mess anything up, everyone has to be friends, and if you want anything all you have to do is grind mindlessly enough to save up enough gold for...this is where D3 is headed. Meanwhile the D2 formula was you messed up you deal with it, everyone can be a jerk so find some good friends, and grind time can be slashed way down simply by the open trading system and learning how to work it.
Please stop screwing Diablo over blizzard, I might have to re-enter reality if you do. You can't allow this to happen, as my fiance might no longer consider a soj a valid engagement ring:(
Most of this sounds like it belongs on the battle.net boards. I'd love to see Bash's take on everything you said.
And you haven't been doing much D2 online right now because the economy is in disarray. You could get perfect gear in a week or less. Prices have fallen and everything is cheep.
Diablo 2 never got anything correct. Diablo 1 was way more revolutionary then D2. Diablo 2 set the stage for other games to build on what diablo 2 had introduced. Blizz is going to do the same thing. Their gonna look at what sucks (ie: trade system I have no idea what was fun about making games screaming TRADING HELL TORCH FOR SOME ODD NUMBER OF HR'S) and build on it like other companies have in the past.
On the subject of gold. I think that their should be the option of trading items for gold or you can trade and item for an item and barter with the player in a seperate place. I think a lot of the trade is going to change based on what battle.net 2.0 is going to introduce.
I'm just gonna repeat what I said earlier. They have not even said what BoE will include. We don't know if gear will even be included in this. Yes I have to agree with making gold worth something by spending it to take of BoE items. But again it depends on what the BoE item is anyway.
Really this entire thread is just one big assumption. They said that they were playing around with BoE stuff but they only said "end game" stuff. Does that include gear or something specific that you get as a reward at the end of the game like ie: annuilus or hell torch.
Don't forget that that interview was back in september and a lot of things can happen in five months. They might have scrapped the idea for all we know. Also this entire thing is your opinion. Lets bring in some other PvP fanatics and see what their take is on all this.
PvP will still exist. People are not going to stop PvPing just because they have to PvE to get more gear. It is not like every PvP player out there only has the one set of gear and can only trade their gear to get new gear. People have other high-end gear, people still do runs for gear. The PvP community does not have a set amount of gear that they all keep trading amongst one another. that is the whole point. The gear keeps coming in and there is nothing in place to stop this.
Basically what I believe. While the PvP community may not be farming monsters for gear the PvE community still is and the PvP gear that they get the trade off to some PvP guy which keeps the economy going.
They are increase the PvP aspect of Diablo 3, maybe you will be able to obtain gear through PvP.
If your referring to the WoW system where you get points for doing PvP mini games and what not the I don't agree with that. PvP in Diablo should be widespread and while mini games can be fun (I know when I played wow for those 2 month's all i did was battlegrounds) I think that spending points that you earn while doing pvp mini games is tedious and boring. I would personally rather trade or find the gear.
From my point of view you are only talking about PVP. What about PVE. In PVP their are a lot less choices of items since as you said PVPers want the best gear that is possible for their character/build. Also your assuming that the high end gear will be bind on equip. As I said in a my previous post you can trade it if you don't equip it...so don't equip it. Why would you want to equip something that a wizard uses if you are a barb.
As for PVE gear will be much more wide spread since their is always a bigger choice of what you want. It also depends on your preferences. "Do I want to dish out insane loads of damage, or do I want to sacrifice damage for resists." I've got no idea if they will include Magic Find in D3 but if they do then that is just another option for PVE gear.
As long as its not bind of pick up I don't care. As long as you don't equip the item in question (and for bind on equip class specific that wont even be possible, if they have that) then you can still trade it for something else.

Your gonna have to PVE at some point to get your skills up.
