Ok I thought you are going for arcane builds and that you tried the Obliteration rune. The frozen orb is a good option, Can't expect it to do full 750% weapon damage on aoe, but for rift guardian it should be possible.
I felt that I cast 2x more signatures than arcane orb. Some resource cost reduction would help.
Electrocute doesn't refresh the slowtime cooldown, which maybe problem if you don't have the Wand for slow time cd.
Are you going to record arcane orb build with your gear ?
I did try arcane build with obliteration, that's why i think if you really wanna go triumvirate go cold for solo, maybe in a party setup with enough arcane power sustain obliteration build may be good. (5bil crits afterall)

I didn't try Energy twister yet with the new set. I build on the fact that energy twister does 255% dmg per second for 6 second where it actually hit mobs only for a portion of time. The basic arcane orb with triumvirate hits for up to 4x 435% which is already better than tornado that thit mobs for its whole duration. Have you tried the unruned version of arcane orb ? You're gear seems to be very close to BIS, so we expect you to show us some 50th grift

Ok so I've tried some grifts with Arcane Orb. Well the problem is Arcane Power, I just spend it too fast and have to use Signature ability a lot. The Mirror Ball is why your build seems to be better than arcane orb. 3 Magic missiles do just as much dmg as buffed arcane orb. It's not aoe, but it helps with outstanding mobs and rift guardians a lot. With arcane orbs and Shocking Pulse it takes ages.
What is interesting is that you say Twisters are better for aoe. I say Arcane Orbs are bad for single target

i was critting for 500m with MM x3 = 1,5b, and 5b AO crits with dynamo (3b without) it's not that bad for single target.

What kind of setup did you use? RORG + Cindercoat, Bastion of Will, or something else?

I think the most dmg comes from magic missiles and slow time. Magic missiles are 3x 500M crits (should be around 800M per cast), The slow time ticks constantly for 90M and occasional energy twister just increase one or two ticks to 250M. Also I only have slightly less than 1M dmg and I could clear 46 rift with talrasha easily, main problem was survivability not damage, so really no way this could be viable. Try triumvirate you should be able to kill elites with just 2-3 arcane orbs with the gear you have.
Btw why so many people use defenders as bracers ? Was there some update to them ? They used to work only occasionally probably some internal cd
PS: also try the same grift replacing energy twister by 10% dmg buff from sparkflint

I thought about familiar since i'm using an hellfire amulet with EE and cold dmg on wep, fire would be an aditional 5% + 10% from sparkflint, but i can't replace ET because i need to proc bastions of will, for solo non season this setup is more than viable it will be the setup i'll clear 50 with.
With the defenders bracers when i'm surrounded by stunned mobs i take very little dmg all the time as far as i can see, so from what i can test there doesn't seem to exist any internal cd. (maybe they should be tested more accurately)
Regarding tal'rasha it's a different set with a different playstyle, but in the 3rd ptr patch it was heavily nerfed, the fact that tal'rasha's 6pc increases conduit's dmg and sources non related to the wiz makes it suffer more from rng than DMO which makes it less enjoyable for me.

With Triumvirate boost to the Arcane Orb , the energy twister will have to hit monsters constantly to be useable as a dmg source.
I would like to see some affix to boost energy twister and it won't have to be damage bonus. What about if your energy twisters could not leave the slow time buble? I would definitelly take a rune making one big tornado out of two Intersection of two bubbles with a little space for tornade would make some engaging gameplay that would allow us to stuck tornado in close area.
Or Slow time slowing movement of Energy twister? These things would make the game play a little more fun as well.

Well PTR is coming up, and instead of all this guesswork about how the set might work I'll be on the front lines trying to get is ASAP to lock in some of these assumptions.
They hinted at 15 new legendary items, of which we only know of 5 (rend ring, slow-time helm, multi-element ring, rain of veng gloves, barb boots), so we'll see if they added anything else that might make this set better or any of its skills worth using other than magic missle.
Maybe they've revamped energy twister and its ill-fated bracers that were so bad during the last PTR.

i guess 2 of those 10 we don't know are legendary gems, + the twister bracers, Ranslor's Folly, which means 7 unknown powers, let's hope for an arcane orb legendary.

Still waiting for the lightning themed set. Preferably one that does not include and orb/helm in the set itself... allowing mass electrocute (Camarel+Myken's) and some other spell to be used. Personally, I love my current setup then main thing it lacks is the survivability and single target damage of fire. However, in clearing/controlling packs mass electrocute+pain enhancer, poison, and conduit gems is hard to top. (keep in mind electrocute gets double the benefit from pain enhancer's AS bonus)
Heck, I'd just be happy for an item that gives some defensive worth to storm armor.
But more in line with the topic... has anyone seen what kind of damage the 4pc does? Does it default to arcane, or is it another damage type that matches your highest +elemental damage?
Well, since it's damage from the Slow Time, I'm assuming Arcane, since all Slow Time are Arcane, unless they change that on 2.2
