Blizzard already confirmed they acquired it. The domain name transfer will take place in upcoming days. As reported earlier, Blizzard is giving the community a grace period to be transfered to diablofans.com -- it takes time for everyone to catch up on the new domain name. http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10279&Itemid=2
Lalalalalalaala *checks time* OMG!!! IM LATE IM LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh well my excuse would be "Boss sorry im late but i was awaiting the arrival of Diablo3"
"Thats ok my fine special employee i was sitting at my computer desk for 3 hous last night waiting for diablo3 as well."

"Things the May 1 Announcement are not:
1. It is not an official announcement of Diablo 3"
That's why I said, "real fans, not freaks like me"
Well just kidding, I'm still affected that the 1st May announcemet was under my expectations and I didn't listen to MD who said "Don't get over hyped" or something like it
Sighs, something tells me I gotta watch my back at WWI.
I hope that brings here people that deserve that great community, not some freak like me
And I'm not taking words literal anymore - such as "something big" or "believe me it will be great"
Joystiq, Kotaku, CVG, Gamespot, IGN, 1UP, G4TV, Gamona, Krawall, Fragland, Shacknews, Bluesnews, EvilAvatar, GameBanshee, TheInquirer ... they have something in common. They considered this "something big" ... enough to care to post it. I will have to consider you have better criteria than their veteran Web Editors.
To fans, this is great. It's better than the "nothing" they have had. It is a step into the right direction. Something is looming. Blizzard replied about the same thing a month before last year's WWI. They are crafty in the replies ... "we’d like to eventually revisit that universe, we don’t have any plans to announce at this time".
Yet a month later, they announced Starcraft 2 at WWI in South Korea. Did Blizzard PR lie? Nope. They did say at this time. Wasn't that what Blizzard answered Next-Gen.Biz and Gamespot on May 1 about the Diablo3.com domain name and a possible Diablo game announcement at 2008 WWI?
On another note, I see you are implying with did this to get loads of traffic or at least lots of new forum members. That has to happen anyways. What we did was trigger an expansion wave reaching various countries via Gaming Networks. All fans have the right to know what's going on. All fans have the right to get hyped. All the fans have the right to know that a Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals exists and that it "might" be the platform where the game announcement "might" be made. What just happened is far more powerful than a mere petition online. Blizzard is listening.
"The number of days until half of the web links to Diablo3.com. But why???"
Gaming sites?!?!
Flikera, I mentioned somewhere that was not to be taken too literal. It is an expression. You can't really measure the web. It is constantly growing and expanding every minute.
How much did Blizzard pay for the Diablo3.com name?
Mockery answered your question in this thread at post# 1 and I answered it too at post# 2.
Mockery donated the domain name to Blizzard Entertainment. There was no money involved in the ownership transference. Mockery will transfer ownership to Blizzard on June.
Someone said at the WoW forums just now that Blizzard acquiring domain names means nothing because that's standard intellectual property yadda-yadda.
This was my answer and watch closely how identical the Blizzard rep's reply is ... it is a canned PR response I have seen over and over, no offense.
This is what Blizzard rep told Next-Gen.Biz: "Please note that we regularly secure ownership of domain names to safeguard our intellectual properties, as was the case with this. Regarding any plans for a new Diablo game, as much as we’d like to eventually revisit that universe, .......... we don’t have any plans to announce at this time." - May 1, 2008
This is what Blizzard Rep said to DailyTech: Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, ........... but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present. -- that was said on april 20, 2007 http://www.dailytech.com/new+blizzard+product+announcement+coming+may+19/article5736.htm
And surprise-surpise ... a month later on May 18, 2007 Blizzard announced Starcraft 2 at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals.
<<<< Rewind: "Please note that we regularly secure ownership of domain names to safeguard our intellectual properties, as was the case with this. Regarding any plans for a new Diablo game, as much as we’d like to eventually revisit that universe, we don’t have any plans to announce at this time."
Blizzard worked Warcraft III, Frozen Throne and World of Warcraft as a single transition product from the ground up.
World of Warcraft was in production before 2002. My guess as I have said before is that Blizzard was working on a RPG hack & Slash 3D game to input lot of lore and bosses as a transition for a Diablo MMO.
30 employees had left a month after the executives resigned. This lowered the personnel available. So staff from Game A was moved to focus on Game B. If you check out the trademarks, Diablo II: Salvation was canned in the magic year ... 2003. That looked like a second expansion to Diablo II, which means it was probably going to continue the seemingly unfinished acts after the Worldstone was destroyed. And probably would have given path to the Diablo MMO.
Since there were these massive resign-waves, whatever Blizzard was working on (Game slowed down production. That game has been in the works for over 5 years. So I am really thinking it is a MMO. World of Warcraft took at least 5 years in the making.
But then ... Starcraft 2 started development after Frozen Throne shipped in July 2003. That's also 5 years in development for a non-MMO game. Hmm.
That makes the simultaneous 3D hack'n slash and MMO debatable, specially since team 3 is composed of 40 people.
Yet we gotta consider the novels. The novels are a very integral part to unannounced game development -- Chris Metzen is who cooks this soup. He makes the storyline and supervise the books and the game story.
World of Warcraft quests and NPCs existed only and exclusively in ... books. Caverns of Time: Durnholde with Thrall and Taretha in Durnholde (Warcraft: Lord of the Clans -- based on Warcraft Adventures). Burning Crusade ata'mal crystals and other locations existed in WoW: Rise of the Horde already. The chromatic dragonflight, Rhonin and Krasus (Warcraft: Day of the Dragon). The Sunwell, Anveena, Kalecgos, Jorad Mace, Tyri and Dar'Khan (Warcraft Manga: The Sunwell). The books are the key here to divinate what's up Blizzard's sleeve for the future of the franchise.
Did anyone rise an eyebrow when Trag'Oul the dragon was about to enter Sanctuary and voices stopped him from doing so because the fate of Sanctuary would mark the fate of the other worlds?
Those voices were guardians from those other worlds ... guardians such as Trag'Oul. Doesn't that sound like there are plans for a MMO where at some point Diablo players will continue the heaven vs hell war across other worlds beyond Sanctuary?
Do you remember Rogue Angels and Rogue Demons united to create Sanctuary? And there was a War against the Nephalem. Where did all those Rogue Angels go? Why is there only Inarius in the whole Trilogy? hmm ...
Thanks, I pretty much can say it is dead end. They indeed were part of the Diablo team. And they abide by the quality standards of the mother company in Irvine.
They now abide to Namco's rushing whip. I was a Hellgate Beta tester. Let's just say I didn't play the last few extra extended days. It is good for single player no doubt. But as a daily multiplayer ... sorry. No interest. I stick with WoW.
While I agree it was nice that mockery didn't put up a fight to maintain control of the domain, I'm fairly certain that Blizzard wouldn't have paid him anyway. They own the rights to all things Diablo and just like they've done with other domains, they just take them. Again, I agree he did the right thing by making the process nice and easy and out of court or whatever, but the whole "I'm the shit cause I didn't take money from them" is debatable. Anyway, like MD had said - this is a step in the right direction; I'm looking forward to the WWI this year.
Sorry, to debunk that. I know a European domain name who was purchased by Blizzard. I won't disclose the amount.
Please tell me they paid you to give up the domain name.
Mockery gave the domain name to Blizzard free. No money was requested by Mockery. I think that was kind, and shows Blizzard and everyone in this community how valuable and selfless Mockery is. In the long run this will benefit this community because Blizzard will be supporting Diablofans.com with recognition in various ways that aren't disclosed fully. =)

Let's go back to 2003. Rick Seis took leadership of Blizzard North when the executives left. Rick said they had been working on two unannounced games.
