The Cinematic FX Artist will be able to research, conceptualize and animate natural and fantastical effects. You must be driven to create compelling effects and have the ability to optimize effects to achieve the highest visual quality.

Design, create, and implement a wide variety of special effects.
Create particle, geometry, atmospheric and texture effects that simulate explosions, muzzle flashes, smoke, fire, steam, fog, etc.

Requirements
4+ years creating CG special effects in either live action or animated film world.
Expert-level skills in 3D software such as Maya or 3DS Max.
Advanced-level skills in 2D compositing software such as Shake, Fusion or After Effects
Expert-level skills in particle systems, simulations and atmospheric effects.
Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes.
Ability to design, self-direct, and organize your work.

how many people work for blizz??? 1800 employees 800 answer phones and i belive 400 work on the WoW department 600 for the rest of thier games

Associate Technical Artist
Blizzard, the developer of Diablo and Diablo II, is looking for an Associate Technical Artist to join their art team. The Associate Technical Artist will be the point person for the creation of physics collision geometry and will assist in the development of a custom pipeline for that purpose. Additional responsibilities may include game-side data management, solving technical issues that artists might encounter, assisting with the creation of custom scripted tools, and the creation of in-game special effects and character rigging. While we knew the games WAS in development last year as Blizzard employees were shown a cinematic privately, it was unkown whether the project had continued due to the success of WoW. Going by this is seems it may well be still ongoing which is great news.
