So I managed to pick up a rhen'ho flayer and I really like the build. I'm doing quite well with it, but I'm not sure about my gear. I've been experimenting an seeing what I have access to.
The main question is, do I stay with my magefist or do I try to get a Tasker and Theo? The toads do quite a lot of damage, about 4 - 8 million. My fetishes hit for about that much too.
Is it better to focus mainly on my toads + WP, or do I focus more on my sycophants? It's hard cause Iv'e thrown about 5000 shards to a T&T and no luck.
Any suggestions?
By the way, I'm still using some suboptimal gear because I'm not going to farm mats to craft new pieces while there's community buff
I actually JUST got the frostburn last night trying to get T&T. THe rolls were okay but not great as far as CC/CHD. but it looks like I got lucky cause I got one with 15% cold and 39% freeze. Low int, but IAS isn't an entirely wasted stat w/ fetishes now.
The freeze effect is fairly underwhelming after running about 10 - 12 rifts with it. Spirit barrage won't constantly chill, it's probably just on first cast. It might shine more in t5, but in t4, I don't need it. I decided to remove the diamond from the helm and replace with amethyst to help pad my life because I gave up 749 vitality on my gloves.
What IS noticeable is the 15% frost damage. It took my initial hits from 4 - 6 mil up to 8 or 9 mil. I don't know why, but it does heh.
I have tried Asheara's before and for some reason, I was quite annoyed with it. It might also be that the chicken was throwing me for a loop cause I wasn't seeing any damage numbers over the chickens' heads so I thought they went immune while CC'd.
Yeah, that happens (you can't see damage numbers while they're hexed), but they're definitely taking damage, so don't worry about that.
Well that's good to know. Then the real question is if it's worth giving up unity + and ice climbers for asheara's
I would think that I would take a string of ears over blackthorne? Hard to say. Harrington is just too good with our dots though. Not to mention, it is massive damage with fetishes. I find that since I have fetishes and dogs now, I survive more easily than before.
I have tried Asheara's before and for some reason, I was quite annoyed with it. It might also be that the chicken was throwing me for a loop cause I wasn't seeing any damage numbers over the chickens' heads so I thought they went immune while CC'd. I don't have good gear for scoundrel because I dont' get dex gear so I am not sure how much added damage they will bring to the table. That being said, I am willing to give it another go. I could go asheara shoulders, legs, gloves + aughild's chest, bracers and still leave room for iceclimbers. Or eventually I can go asheara shoulders, legs, boots + aughild's chest and bracers and leave room for T&T. In order to do this all however, I would need to give up unity for RoRG, which has way worse stats than my unity.
It's really hard to decide, but I suppose testing is the only way to know for sure
Hrm, that's a shame seeing how I spent about 5 million more gold to get +Haunt damage on my serpent offhand. I do hope they fix it, if it's indeed broken.
2500 + shards and no T&T from kadala yesterday or the day before. Will try to get a pair tonight...if I even rift. That community event buff is difficult to deal with. I can either farm extra rift fragments, or I can get a lot more legendary drop % in rifts ... hard to choose.
On a sidenote, I'm trying to tinker with my gear and could use some advice.
Assuming gloves are reserved for T&T, what do I do about my legs/boots, etc? I'm not exactly sure what I want to get out of things. If I'm willing to give up Unity, I could use my RoRG (only level 61 but pretty good stats) and go for 2pc aughild's and 4 pc asheara but is it worth it? I think anyway. I can do aughild chest + bracers, and then asheara shoulders, leg, boots.
Iceclimbers are really nice though... what would you guys do? I'm interested in your ideas.
I wanted to test this out tonight as well. Although I'm not sure if I can incorporate it into the cold/dot build with fetishes. Does anyone know if you equip the ring and use circle of life, do you still get that gargantuan dog?
I have to say that the DOT damage is definitely lower than it was before. Then again, I only have to cast it once because at least I know I don't have to pay attention to see if the spells were initially crits or not. Overall, it means I can focus on casting haunt on everything on the screen rather than if it crit on a few key mobs.
I spent about 3 hours last night with this spec rifting in t4. I have to say, I really like the changes to fetish syncophants. The changes to horrify are amazing as well. I never used to use it, but now I'm a total fan. My main changes that I tested were fetish syncophants and mask of jeram. Was REALLY happy with this equipment change. I'm now gambling for a T&T to further test that out.
The fetish uptime is quite good. Solid spec for me! I'm really digging the new WD changes because this spec is now perfect for my playstyle.
I'm still using my wizard's 2 pc vyrs because I have nothing that much better atm. I valued the 500 int over asheara's set. I didn't really like the followers because they weren't that geared, and chicken is unnecessary from enchantress on t4. Maybe on t5/6 it's a different story. I'm also not using RoRG atm, Crazy I know! But I prefer the extra boost from unity/soj.
I am definitely considering dropping piranhas for something else because with all the fetishes, I feel it's not as necessary. I also no longer run grave injustice so I can't use it that often either.
So I was experimenting with this build and since I don't have Quetzacoatl, I decided to use my Mask of Jeram. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with the results. I don't have a tasker & theo, but I could easily fit that in w/ my gear. My fetishes are still critting for 5 - 9 mil and there can be up to 10 - 12 at a time. I'm starting to wonder if going hybrid might not be a bad idea
I really enjoyed this build. I had decent success in clearing t3 rifts in about 13 minutes, but it's not as fast as my wizard 8 minutes. BUT I don't have that stuipid helm yet! Queztacoatl or whatever is still evading me, 4000 shards and counting or so. I can imagine a drastic speedup with this. Justusy, just as you posted, I was thinking about coming back to this build with the fetish syncophants changes. Excited to test this out again.
I use both blur and dominance...it's been working fine. Is that a bad thing?
Also I've noticed that the frost meteor falls down without using frozen mist. I thought weapon damage type doesn't proc the meteor? Did Blizz change it? I don't know what else could be proccing it.
If you are using both, then I guess that's fine. I'm not sure on what an optimal t5/6 setup would be, but I find that blur + dominance would be overkill for <= T4. It's all based on gear and spec too I guess. If you're standing still a bit with something like AT or disintegrate, then unwavering will is kind of like blur.
So I'll chime in on this because I have the gear to run 3pc aughild's, 4pc tal and 4pc vyr's at the same time. I've tried it and tbh, I found it somewhat underwhelming. I really enjoyed archon when I went pure arcane and used all +arcane + cosmic strand for chain stunning packs and archon in a pinch. That was really strong.
I really enjoy Tal 4pc build, but when I did that, I didn't care to use archon. It just felt like I was trying to do too many things and wasn't really interested in using my archon ability, even if it wasn't on cooldown. To be fair, in order to do this and keep teleport (cause I love teleport...) I had to give up a signature spell and just rely on my thunderfury to proc lightning meteors. The issue was that I was sometimes running out of AP and I didn't like not having a signature spell.
It also doesn't help that my gear is a little suboptimal in the sense that in order to get both 4pc bonuses I have to give up using my ice climbers. I love ice climbers. Not just because I can be a bit lazier about not getting frozen, but because in higher torments, it helps my survivability much more than using archon would.
In the end, I decided to just rock 4 pc tal and still use as much arcane % as possible, but skip over archon. Each person will probably have their own opinion, but I am not thrilled about using both sets 4 pc bonus.
Here's a link to what I'm currently using for T3. I wouldn't recommend this much higher than this level or torment for my gear though. I'm just doing it for quick runs. I'm still arcane primarily and so I'm making use of abilities that just add extra elemental damage. I found cold the hardest to make an adjustment for if I don't run ice armor. i'm also lazy and like it that ice armor breaks all the breakables I run by
There are some other threads on this forum that cover the best tal 4 pc builds, etc. I suggest looking at those, and just experiment. Everyone has different playstyles.

I'm open to wacky and awesome suggestions though!

Curious if anyone has tried something like that.
