His work took (as stated by the OP) A LOT of time, focus, perseverance, creativity, among other good qualities that made that picture just... amazing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the contest was to make a funny picture, it wasn't about who put the most time, effort and creativity into their entry, if it was he probably would have won.
exactly, if that was what the contest was, he would have won hands down, and as we said in the other thread, he was in the list for sure. But this wasn't about "who could spend the most time". The other picture just dealt with what was going on in the picture more than that one, which is why I at least, liked it more.
Not everyone is going to like the same ones..
Plus the OP's pic was one I already added so far =P
I have to agree that the winner of week 1 contest was legitimate. This thread is not about claiming Gosukusan "should have won". If you have intentions of using this thread as a medium to air your grievances toward the mods or their decision(s), I ask that you respectfully refrain from commenting.
This thread serves a single purpose: To gather people who enjoyed Gosukusan's work together in the hope of rewarding him for it.
Calvera666 you should post your other entries as well in the opening post.
agree, I think I listed 2 of his others as top pics out of me 30.
I would, but I'm getting such a load of hate/death/insulting mail that I'm even considering closing this account and starting a new one.
It's a shame to see people from this forum reacting this way, people that I admired for such a long time.
Haters gonna hate, Calavera666. This is internet. Fear its wrath.
Seriously though, I hope you don't let these bitter 13 year olds get to you. You won a covetted prize amongst thousands of contestants. Enjoy your well deserved d3 beta romp!!!
Week 1 of the beta "Submit-A-Caption" contest (Which can currently be found here ) was mired in controversy. Certain groups felt cheated or disenfranchised by the nature or presentation of the contest. While I can't speak for, or even empathize with many of these groups, there is one such plea that has caught my attention and earned my respect.
For the first week of the contest, the diablofans community was given the following picture to edit in an original or entertaining way:
I won't speak to the legitimacy of the winner's submission (aside from saying that I really enjoyed it, and feel it was much better than my own submission. Congrats btw on winning!), as I was not a judge, and as such did not define or decide the criteria for success or victory. What I will speak to, however, is a certain submission that I personally felt should have been rewarded and recognized.
The following image, created by Gosukusan, required more time, effort, focus, and dedication than anything I have seen thus far:
Again, the "winners" of this contest are a completely arbitrary designation defined solely by the judgement of the forum mods. I won't say he should have won, but I will claim that this work is probably better than anything I will submit to this contest.
I can't with a clean conscious claim a prize for any future entry that might be less deserving than this man's submission. Therefore, I make this assurance to Gosukusan: I will be participating in each, weekly round of this contest. If any of my submissions win, I'm giving my beta key to you. I additionally invite anyone who shares my perspective to offer a similar assurance to Gosukusan.
Here are my current submissions for this week's contest. I will update them as I create more:
Stop with the bitterness people. This contest is first and foremost a means of entertainment. Captions are less entertaining than captions+. Regardless of what was said by the mods (they actually did publicly state that pictures were allowed in addition-to/place-of captions), entertainment value comes first.
I also would like to see the top __ entries for every event
I think I might not have been clear when proposing my question(s) to this forum.
I understand that blizzard would never publicly do anything that would jeopardize their business. I'm wondering if they will go the extra mile to prohibit affiliates (with less to lose) from doing just that, such as lower level employees, employee family members, friends, etc. Will they police themselves in this regard, to ensure no one is tempted to take advantage of this situation?
I was excited about a """caption contest""" because some people can come up with some amazing ideas but now that its basically a photoshop contest it just looks like all the other crap on reddit, 9gag etc etc.
Captions now have to compete with photoshop which is less accessible to some.
The winner of the last competition changed less than most of the other entries. He/She added a little 20x20 pixel picture that could have been done through mspaint. In the end, this is a competition that will be decided by cleverness and entertainment value. Come up with something unique and you might win. End of story.
He didn't win their contest; He won my contest.

TBH your submission was very unique. I liked it :>
Anyway, gl in the beta. I'm joining you soon, even if it means I have to start shopping David Bowie into my submissions (He's my wildcard).
