The real news here is not the game, it's the cross-platform multiplayer feature. I think it has been done before but never really caught on. For those with friends that only play consoles it's been a long time coming i think. Although it could be that before the wii-mote (and kinect) it was not feasible to control a PC game with a gamepad. Once again blizzard pushes back the limits of gaming. If they can pull it off with D3 I'm sure the rest of the industry will follow.
Since I have not played the game I chose a bunch of random skills. If I had played the game I would have a better idea. Chances are your first build will not work very well and will have to be adapted to the game-play. The contest winners are random so what's the difference?
I dont know how the D3 controls are set up yet but I was always really annoyed with the setup in D2 where you had everything on numbers 1234567890. Maybe I just suck at using a keyboard but if I have to pick any number over 5 I am going to have to look at the keyboard. The best solution I found was rebinding everything to letter keys under 1234...

so
q = skill 5
w = 6
e = 7
r = 8
a = 9
etc...
dont have to move your hand or look at the keyboard.
It seems kind of ridiculous that something easier to kill than a boss would have better loot, but it does make sense from the developer's standpoint. I kind of liked doing the boss runs in D2, just to see how fast I could do it I guess. I would guess that it will require you to build a character that has a greater range of abilities and such; instead of just maxing out the resistances you would need for one particular boss you will need to be ready for anything.
Ever since they announced the monk I have been really excited for this game. Back in the olden days I played a text-based MUD that had a monk class and thought it was so cool to beat things up using bare hands but still do the same damage as anyone with an actual weapon. I wish they did not make monks use a weapon but it makes sense as far as balancing the game I guess. Wizard looks pretty cool too. I like shiny spells and stuff.
Well Diablo 2 is the bestest game ever so Diablo 3 should be like the bestestest game ever right? It would be pretty cool to actually be part of the game development process, however small my contribution would be. I have never been chosen for any of the betas for blizzard games even though I have tried to get into all of them. Only got into SC2 beta because I pre-ordered the game. <_<
