I was curious if anyone knew if the passive skill resolve (25% reduced dmg) and the Crippling Wave run Concussion (30% dmg ) stacked at all? Is there a DR on the dmg reduction or what? If they do stack then these 2 abilities would be ideal for inferno since thats 55% reduced dmg from just attacking any mob.
I hope it stacks that way, its the only defense really for monks. Any monk that uses a shield is just silly xD
Never heard someone say a Tank using a Shield is silly before.
The monk is loaded with Damage reduction passives, an armor increase buff, Healing and sustain, but you are saying that almost doubling your armor by throwing on a shield is silly? I must admit I am thoroughly confused by this statement lol.
With the passive of a flat +15% dodge i think it would trump the armor from a shield. Not to mention you can dish out more damage while DWing.
So with how the monk works honestly i think they will make a pretty amazing tank class. Especially if they focus hardcore on dodge. Now i dont know if dodge effects the chance to avoid magic attacks or not someone inform me please. But with how inferno will be alot of the damage will be coming from just the swarms of enemies and their melee attacks.
Is the build im currently looking at. You can swap out serenity for something else but i slapped that in there with the heal incase something funky does go wrong.
And honestly with the amount of dex and dodge rating you can get from gear this could be overkill so skills could be swapped out accordingly.
But from the abilities you get:
+16% from Fists of Thunder
+20% from Cyclone Strike
+20% from Dashing Strike
+15% from Mantra of Evasion (+15% extra right when you activate)
+15% from Guardian's Path
Total of : 86% Dodge (Not including Sixth sense since the number will effect which abilities you use)
Now i believe you can keep up this dodge easily by weaving each ability.
Sweeping Wind is the vast of your aoe since Cyclone Strike pulls everything to you and once you use Sweeping wind i think you can keep it up easily.
Now depending like i said on what base dodge you have you could swap out runes or abilities so you could have a more steady dodge.
With FoT +Mantra + Guardians path, youu have easily 45% dodge up almost all the time.
One with everything could be swapped for something else as well, honestly could do the spirit per second passive to go with the rune on sweeping wind so you can use your spirit dumps easier.
Backlash on the mantra is a no brainer, since you will be dodging a ton you will be doing tons of the aoe xD
Eh double mantra seems like a waste of a slot honestly. Cyclone strike in later difficulties is just asking to get your character killed. Hey inferno mode let me pull everyone right on me with no way to get away xD
This build lacks mobility big time. Nothing to get you out of a hairy situation except for crossing your fingers for a fear off cyclone strike.
I think a three spirit gen build will be viable up until later difficulities when you need to be using defensive abilities alot more.
Dashing strike will later on be a must and will replace Fists of thunder since it allows you to port right behidn an enemy and get out of their los from an attack.
Meh barb will definatly be a big hitter, but man o man i think monk will have alot more survivablity. From the fast movements to the super fast attacks. Not to mention mantras make me jizz my pants a little.
And as someone mentioned, spamming LTK with the stun rune is going to be bonkers late game with the massive amounts of spirit regen we will have.
Eh i guess i could see it kind of a pvp build. But i dont think it will stand its own in inferno where survivability is king. It does do some raw sick damage but you will get smacked like a little school girl wtih no defensives
I do like your build alot it has some solidness to it. But honestly EP is going to do massive damage in inferno. THe fact that it does 30% of the targets life to everyone around it will make it the top dog in aoe. Since inferno mobs will have TONS of hp. Wave of light is just way to much spirit to spam, unless you stack alot of spirit regen.
Breath of heaven is a huge nobrainer, easily "spammable" heal on a 15s cd. The fear rune is meh since its such a short duration, i would go the damage buff rune instead honestly.
I feel like pacifism wont be that necessary, i dont see that many mobs doing crown control on you in inferno. Honestly i would do sixth sense so you can get alot more dodge.
I probably will do a double spirit gen build for most of the game up into inferno and swap fists of thunder for dashing strike, since it ports you behind the enemy. Abusing that to get behind bosses will be priceless. Not to mention the 20% dodge rune.
Eh i'm not a huge fan of Sweeping wind, the damage on the tooltip doesnt seem all that good to me. I could be wrong though. I think exploding palm with a seven sided strike will do more damage in the end.
Inner santuary as well doesnt seem all that great, it would be better to have serenity or breath of heaven. Shorter CD and it can heal you as well.
Im going to be doing a 2 spirit gen build, allows for more versatility and damage since it can be doubled up with the later skill that gives you 8% more damage for each generator used.
Eh i dunno, im not a huge fan of crippling wave. It does nice aoe but for single target Hundred fists wins everyday. In the harder difficulties you will need to be focusing alot more on single target > aoe. Gotta take out champions fast and not to mention the enrages on bosses.
Serenity will be nice, im honestly a huge fan of Breath of Heaven with the damage bonus rune. Shorter CD with the heal. If you have fast enough reflexes you can avoid most damage anways.
Dashing strike really will be only good for the fact that it ports you behind your target. Fists of thunder can do the same thing basically with the teleporting rune, it just doesnt go right behind the target.
Eh honestly i think thats over kill. Ya it would be nice to have that huge stacking damage bonus but you miss out on so much utility as a monk. Plus you make it where you have to do a rotation for a diablo game....
In harder difficulties you are going to have to have Breath of Heaven or Serenity available at all times since the damage is going to be intense unless you stack a dodge build.
Plus as this spec you have nothing to dump your spirit into, except for every 30 seconds. The monk is a class built on building up spirit then dumping it on powerful abilities.
