It's fucking obvious that Diablo will have a character using bows. Not having one would be idiotic.
Uh, dude, every class in D2 (and almost positive with D1 as well - been too long since I've played it) could use a bow. That doesn't at all mean that there will be an amazon equivalent this time around - just that you'll have characters that can use bows.
As far as i remember in the interiview Jay Wilson said that it will be a completely mature game. And acctually i dont really care about that cuz if the game is good it doesnt matter if it is 18+ or not.
Pretty much - like with movies, most ones I see anymore just *happen* to be R rated (even though I rarely see movies anymore), it doesn't mean it HAS to be R or no dice (take for instance WALL•E - fantastic movie and a G rating). Same with games (CoD4/Portals/etc).
The only issue with this is, you'd have to stop monsters coming into the room until you started the sequence off. Which would be much more complicated to do since all of the rooms/dungeons are randomized. If it was a game where all of the events were triggered and scripted (think first person shooters) with just a little bit of enemy AI randomization, then yea it'd be do-able. The one thing you wouldn't want though is having a swarm of randomly generated enemies start coming at you and you not being able to see much of anything in the process, while you're trying to find and light randomly placed torches.
It's a good idea in theory, but unless it was used very specifically for certain boss fights or quests (think Cairn stones for tristram), the practical application of it isn't very high.
You all know what it's like to hit 25 then go on a slew of baal runs, 1 of them killing baal and getting the quest, etc. Well now in order to find games you can actually do, you have to create a character in normal difficulty, check which games are up, and then quickly switch characters to hopefully jump into that game that you were interested in. Then if you hit Hell difficulty but aren't yet ready to proceed into hell (especially if you play a hardcore character) and you're too low of a level, you're kinda stuck as you now need to make a character and get them to Nightmare difficulty to see which games are there - a very annoying and frustrating issue that's been there since the release of D2. My solution to the issue:
As you can see in this version, you've got an option to click different check boxes/radio buttons and see which games you'll be able to view as join-able. This way your high level character can see which games are available to you, regardless of difficulty. The boxes/radio buttons will appear for your character based on which difficulties are currently available (they'll be greyed out or just not even there for difficulties that you're not able to access). You'd be able to click on Difficulty at the top of the games selection window and it'd filter ascending or descending for difficulty levels.
Another option would be a tabbed view instead:
Clicking on the tab, you'll be able to see which games are available per difficulty without having to make additional characters. It'd be tabbed akin to the WP list in D2 - acts only showing up when you're able to access them - which would be translated to Difficulties.
All in all these are just 2 tweaks to 2 major annoyances that I've had since starting to play D2. Hopefully these can be remedied in D3 with the new Battle.net.
Hola. So after starting up again yesterday after finally figuring out how to get the game to not crash on my macbook, I've become interested in current Ubers Builds. Right now I've got a lvl 20 necro - hardcore, that I've been moving towards a summoner build. Anyone have an efficient buildout/spec sheet for an summoner uber necro? I only ask as I've a: never done a summoner before, b: never done an uber trist specific build before.
1: With how popular the WoW UI customization scene has been is there any thought to doing something similar with D3's UI, or will that remain static? I for 1 would welcome UI customization within D3 as I loved working on my own UI within WoW.
This wouldn't be very plausible on Hardcore mode tbh. Although, I do agree with keeping the idea of "Uber Diablo/Uber tristram" or implementing the idea somehow.
Also, the game is meant to be a VERY fast paced, hack and slash action rpg. With this in mind it doesn't make sense to bring the "raid" aspect into the equation.
I been lurcking around this forum for about a week and finally registered. I just wanted to add my thoughts in about this. Read before you flame please.
There are many reasons I would like there to be a monthly fee, or at least wouldn't mind it.
1. Keep the kiddies out. I am tired of 14 year old punks ruining my gaming experience. With a monthly fee, that is payable by credit card not game card, it would get rid of a lot of immaturity and would result in a better game. The game is rated M for a reason. Go watch your bob the builder and leave the gaming to the adults, thanks.
2. If blizzard plans to regularly update this game like wow, then I don't mind one bit paying for the content. It would give extra money to blizz for new enhancements and whatnot. We were all complaining about how d2 hardly ever got updated. Well, why should they when they have no reason incentive to. Added levels, bosses, items, bug fixes, and world events is way worth the cost to me.
Have you played WoW? Just because it requires a credit card doesn't mean that "kiddies" won't be able to play. Just with the Mature rating as well, that doesn't really mean anything either. Parents or brothers or whoever else can still buy the game for them.
I started playing D2 when it first came out and there were REGULAR updates to it. The reason why it's rarely updated now-days is because the game is 8 years old. Yes, it may very well have a vibrant player community, but, anymore it doesn't need "regular" updates. There were plenty of patches and tweaks and fixes when the game first came out.

Play some hardcore - you'll get a very real understanding of what a Death Penalty is
After playing pretty much nothing but for 5 years, I can guarantee you that dying in D2 for me is a very serious issue haha.
