PS: I hope Diablo 3 gets cancelled now if your going to complain so much.
What in the hells is your problem? You hope Diablo gets canceled because (15,000 and counting) people don't like the direction it's going in? You're not a fan, you're a sycophant and a sniveling apologist for Blizzard. For all intensive purposes, we've been shown a continuation of a franchise taken on by a company who had very little (if any) hand in creating previous installments. Blizzard is not infallible, yet I trust them to make a GREAT game regardless. Do you think all of this rabble rousing and hubub would exist if we were not AVID fans of the game? Of course not... stop acting so daft. Also, Blizzard isn't a damn gaming monopoly; they listen and respect their fans. They don't have their finger on the big, red, shiny abort button ready to push on the first sign off dissent.
I vote to leave the game as it is for a number of reasons:
Even when demons from Burning Hell are assaulting you, fresh blood is still bright crimson. Don't believe me? Chop off your friend's arm at twilight. Blood will still be red.
Grass is still green even when you chop off your friend's arm in an attempt to prove that evil makes the world monochromatic. Don't believe me? When carrying out your mission in #1, make sure you are in a grassy lawn.
A major art change at this stage would delay development. Since many of us care about the continuation of the story line, I'd much prefer to kill a zombie under blue lighting than have to wait another year just so that you can kill that same zombie under a gray light.
Users can achieve the "preferred" darker setting a couple of ways. First, dial down the gamma in the game. Second, set your video card to grayscale.
Many people value graphics far less than exciting game play. I'd rather the design team be focused on making sure I am having fun while playing than making sure that every ounce of color is drained from the environments.
And now for some fun party chat from Diablo III: And the Heavens Shall be Gray, Dammit:
Barbarian 1: Watch out for that cultist. Barbarian 2: What cultist? Witchdoctor 1: The one over by that object. I can't tell what it is because it's gray. Everything in this dungeon is gray. Witchdoctor 2: We're in a dungeon? I thought we were still in the jungle. I couldn't tell because everything is gray. Barbarian 2: Yeah, well at least we know we're fighting evil.
I want a great immersive, fun game with a host of aptly evil minions and bosses I can mash in - all wrapped in an amazing looking polished package. The gameplay trailer has ticked all the boxes I currently have, and they haven't even showcased some of the tilesets that are 'hell' related.
D3 trailer has more gore thus far than D2 contained.
D3 trailer had so much more clarency than D2 had (kurast jungle anyone?).
D3 trailer had quite simpyl amazing animations in comparison to D2.
D3 trailer featured a staggeringly amazing looking world, with a strong feeling of depth (completely missing in D2).
D3 trailer contained one fucking obscure rainbow in an outdoor enviroment where rainbows are likely to be expected.
I questioned your Diablo knowledge because of that ridiculous rainbow comment you made. You're the one who hashed up all of those moot links; what the hell are you trying to get across? You don't want D3's art direction left to T-shirt design companies? Yes, D3 is new, 8 years is a long time in the gaming industry... of course all the technical aspects of D2 will be overshadowed by the superior engine in D3. You're missing the point. We're talking about art, ambiance, feel, and fluidity. Yes, the gameplay trailer is aesthetically pleasing, but it's lacking as far as the franchise's continuity is concerned.
I think you have it a little too drastic since, personally, I wouldn't want Diablo 3 to be a survival-horror type of game. But for the boss fights, hell yeah.
Good (INTENSE!) memories.
That's not what I was going for at all. I want the game to have the same art/content direction as its predecessors and for it to reflect the fact that Diablo, ruler and purveyor of HELL, is frothing in an evil pit of decadence waiting to reek chaos. What I don't want is this whimsical, fruity piece of work that's been shoveled at us. I'm not a picky person, really...this just means a lot to me.
Avid players of the previous installments of Diablo understand why ambiance, mood, texture, grit, and macabre play such an important role in the series. I remember being about twelve and venturing into the final level of the catacombs; the fear was palpable. From the pools of blood that gathered in the wrecked stone floors to the corpses which were callously strewn across the unforgiving landscape, D2 had a definite and dynamic element of terror that D3 seems to have been left behind. One complaint in particular that has me a bit dumbfounded is the notion that everything doesn't have to be so sinister and that D2 had scenes which ran replete with sunshine and hope; this wasn't the case. Disparity was the overwhelming mood. Act 2 is a great example of this. It'll take you about ten steps outside the city's walls before you discover fly ridden-bodies spitted on spears and left to roast in the desert sun. These little touches is WHAT MADE ME LOVE THIS GAME! I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I want to see pure, unadulterated, sadomasochistic evil! I want the backgrounds to display the most heinous, hell ridden acts of depravity and hedonism. I want a spine shivering experience of true horror! I want a worthy successor to the morally bankrupt environment which is DIABLO!

Props for the great approach and the initiative to make a difference.^_^
*facepalm*
Na dude, ever heard of an argument being non sequitur? You've made a prim little text book example.
Seconded. If High Council doesn't encompass the ability to ban, what does?

Have you ever played Diablo II? Just curious...
