Deadlines. People have to make them. Some of my best work as a Studio Art major have come from crunch time. You become focused in a way that doesn't happen without that fire lit under your bum.
Couldn't have said it better. I've stayed up days at a time sometimes working on projects for deadlines, and while it's totally exhausting, there's a zone you reach where you're doing your best work and you can keep doing it indefinitely.
Taking breaks destroys your concentration, and it takes time to reach the zone again when you resume. I wouldn't be surprised if most people only stop to make a cup of coffee and take a leak during those kind of hours. Meals are probably mostly eaten while working, or in meetings.
I really like this idea, it would be so much fun. I first thought of a mode like this in D3 when playing Last Stand in Dawn of War 2. Last Stand is a blast, but would really benefit from more skills and options - I think that a game like that would really shine in Diablo.

Level cap is arbitrary. It could be 60 or it could be 500. When it's 60, as Bash, claims it works well with increasing your power each time you level. If it were 500 you'd get levels every few minutes and be getting minuscule improvements each time -- this would be ultra lame. 99 doesn't work for D3 so we get 60... that's completely fine with me and to be honest the WoW comparisons here are really misplaced. Next people will be like "ZOMG I saw the color red in Diablo, but they used the color red in WoW too! WTF Blizzard stop cloning WoW!"

I sincerely hope for a summer 2011 release, but I can't help thinking about PVP and Battle.net. They haven't released any information on their progress with these things, and they could delay the game if they haven't gotten very far yet. I hope this is not the case, maybe we'll find out at BlizzCon.

While I approve of what everyone else was saying I don't think anyone answered your actual question. Sounds like you want to know how long the single player game will last. Completing the story and seeing the cinematics - Blizz has said that they are aiming for a comparable length to Diablo II on multiple occasions so it's pretty safe to say it's going to be about the same.

Bashiok did say we would not be disappointed with it so that probably means some relatively large news/revelations. I also hope they give some info on when this D2 patch will be released and what content it will contain.

I don't really have any good reason why, but I'd like to see PC games stay on the PC and not be ported to consoles. Soon there wont be any PC exclusive games and that sucks. If Blizzard does form some kind of agreement with Microsoft for the next Xbox I hope they develop a new game designed for that system, not just a port of a PC game like Diablo 3. Here's hoping...

I definitely hope the old Tristram music returns, it is such a great song. While the new music I have heard isn't bad at all I still haven't heard anything that can match music from the first two games.

I'm playing a bit of CoD4 and L4D but I long for Diablo 3. I'm looking at Jumpgate Evolution for a good time killer while waiting. Hopefully it will come out within the next few months.

I thought about this before and thought it was a good idea. After pondering it a while longer I realized it really wouldn't work and it would take away from the action of what is supposed to be an Action RPG. "Just hanging out" isn't really what Diablo is all about. Instead I'd just suggest an improved chat area with all the necessary options along with tabs or areas for an AH or a public listing with search options for trading purposes. This is kinda getting away from topic slightly but improved friends list and chatting would be nice as well.
