Only reason is because of the rune "cloud of insects" on Locust and I wasn't quite sure about "Resentful Spirit" on Haunt.

Unruned Locust Swarm does 360% OVER 8 seconds. 360% is the total damage this skill does. It does not do 360% * 8 = 2880%

Cloud of Insects rune makes Locusts do (360%/8 seconds) * 10 seconds = 450%

Resentful is 288 * 2 = 576 WD% over 2 seconds?
as opposed to unruned at 575 WD% over 12?

Again, total damage is not 288% * 2 = 576%. It is 288% OVER 2 seconds. 288% is the total damage done.

If you want to compare Resentful spirit with unrined haunt, you can look at the damage per second.

Resentful Spirit: 288% / 2 seconds = 144% damage / second.

Unruned Haunt: 575% / 12 seconds = 47.92 damage / second.
