Heaven would not benefit, as the Nephalem are far more powerful than angels and demons, being hybrids with the powers of both. It was an angel (Inarius) that created the Worldstone in the first place to stop the Nephalem growing strong enough to destroy both Heaven and Hell.
you kill his brother, i don't really think Diablo will be thinking of you as a fly
you kill both his brothers, i don't really think Baal will be thinking of you as a fly
it is also very doubtful that the High Heavens could care less what the Three do on Sanctuary......every step of the way, Tyrael was totally unsupported by Heaven. He got the soulstones, imprisoned the Brothers in them (with the help of the Horadrim), he knew Diablo was going to free Baal so he was waiting in the tomb with no evidence of other angels present, he is there when Diablo is gathering his armies for invasion and he knows that Baal is going for the Worldstone. The whole time, the only angel we see actually doing anything is Tyrael (one angel is just floating there guarding the gates to Diablo's Sanctuary with monsters rampaging all over the place, he's doing a great job). It seems that the High Heavens simply couldn't care less about Sanctuary. We have Baal marching a massive army on the Worldstone - he gets inside the Worldstone keep and Heaven sits back and watches.
The problem is it's very hard to have a bigass demon plotting in what is basically a hack'n'slash game. Let's face it, NONE of the brothers really did anything truly cunning in any of the games except possibly when Baal tricks Marius into giving him the soulstone.
In Diablo I, it's basically just bashing your way through hordes of freaks and demons to get to Diablo while he sacrifices Albrecht to manifest again.
In Diablo II, you race Diablo to his brothers through even bigger hordes of freaks and demons. Diablo wins, you kill Mephisto, go to hell, kill Diablo, come back and try to stop Baal corrupting the Worldstone.
Nothing really cunning is done by ANY of them. It's just pure demonic power and a bit of corruption here and there.
when they released mephisto, the largest shard was given to his high priest so he could become mephisto incarnate - i'm assuming the largest shard was the only one large enough for mephisto's power, otherwise we would have 7 mephistos running around everywhere
it also fits with the baal part - the shard must be a certain size to be able to contain the power of one of the prime evils, the other 6 shards from mephisto's soulstone were not large enough to hold his power
and to the part about the wanderer: by stabbing himself in the head with the soulstone, he took diablo into himself, and i am thinking he fused with it, with the soulstone becoming part of him, as it is there on diablo when he dies - unless he stabbed himself in the face again with the soulstone when he transformed i don't see how it came to be on his head (i think it was on his forehead when you killed him, correct me if i'm wrong).
btw apples: there is no scar on his head, there are depressions where horns should be
i have to disagree with the "It was all planned"
Tyrael was sort of busy with Diablo in the tomb.....Marius should be smart enough NOT to release the big freaky guy that a huge angel is guarding
And Baal went after the Worldstone in Act III, Tyrael judged it best to NOT have a massive demon army invading Sanctuary through a direct portal while the angels were still sealed off, therefore Baal was more of a long term threat (he had to amass an army, travel to the Worldstone and bash his way through the barbarians), as soon as you killed Diablo, Tyrael sent you straight after Baal. It is likely that his trip into the mortal world and fight with Diablo (as well as the whole time-freeze to tell Marius to run) drained his power to some degree and stopped him returning to Sanctuary with anywhere near enough strength to confront Baal, therefore it is your job.
Tyrael had to destroy the Worldstone- he had no choice, it would have given Hell a direct way into Sanctuary and made them extremely powerful - it contained most of the power of the entire human race after all, Inarius could make himself insanely powerful with it, now that it is corrupted, why couldn't the Brothers? It was better to have both Heaven and Hell in on the fight, with Heaven having most of the humans on their side (especially now that at least some of their power was probably returned by the Worldstone's destruction).
doubtful, everybody would know who he was in Tristram, and he wasn't weak when he left
they were laughing at him (which they wouldn't if they knew he was the person that killed Diablo, and he could barely hold his sword, Cain doesn't mention anything like that, so he must have left first)
couldn't it be possible that mortals came up with the concept of a "god", and though there is no actual god, there is still the concept of an all-powerful being, which may be the reason that "godspeed" exists in the diablo universe
maybe azmodan is getting sent to the frontlines of the war for Sanctuary as a punishment

"Damnit! I wish you people would just leave me alone! I... Oh, you're a Necromancer"
"I would smile, but i am afraid my face might collapse"
Prime Evils need to eat too!
maybe they got too "harmonious" with nature and overloaded the forest so it all died.....
maybe he was possessed by an angel (instead of a demon for once) so he could help you
and didn't the druids live in a forest? why are they in the DESERT?
