5 years ago, people were wondering if there's really a game called D3 in developing.
3 years ago, it was CONFIRMED,really a big day for all of us.
Today, see all you guys here, talking about the game, I am happy and contented, really.
It will come out and it's not far.
I think the boss fight in D3 should be different or let's say more diffcult and interesting then in D2, one of the ways is to introduce team play, just like the instance runs in WoW.
We need a tank, a healer and some dps, the BOSS has different phases and requires certain strategy.
I don't think the high level BOSS in infernal mode can be soloed.
Players VS NPCs? This could be very hard to design a NPC suitable for a player to fight, either too hard or too weak, the NPCs lack of AI, you can only boost their stats.
Gambling over PVP would be more reasonable.
Given the serious nature of your question, I'm going to give you a serious answer. First off, none of us know when the beta is coming out. With that said, there are some little clues to help narrow it down. Blizzard has said that they are trying to get the game out this year. Keep in mind that they are not guaranteeing it. But if that is there current plan, they also said they are planning beta to last about six months. So, considering a 2011 release (again which can be pushed back to early next year) and a 6 month beta, the latest it can start if they still want to hit their deadline is late June. The only other clue we have is that Mike Morhaime said that they would discuss diablo's beta at the May activision financial conference call. It is unlikely that beta will start before then.
So, my educated guess is sometime between late may through June. The traditionalist in ke says June 28 although I personally want it sooner. As long as betas out by my birthday (July 10) I won't have a rage fit.
A great article.
I don't worry about removing tp at all. tp is actually a very important mechanic in D2, removing this feature means a brand new thing was designed.
It's been a long time since last time I log into D3 forum, when she's still using the diablo3.com domain, and no one in the world knows if Diablo 3 is really exists, lol.
I still remember when the first time Blizzard unveils Diablo 3, they mentioned to borrow something from the God of War. The way players fighting monsters. We know God of War uses many new elements to enchance visual experience, like camera shake, dynamic zoom, slow motion and some unique finishing moves. This makes the whole fighting dynamic and consistent, and exciting. The charactor is highly interactive with the monsters, like a tauren is charging at you, and you could stop it, grab its horns and press down, or makes a sharp turn to dodge.
You are not just holding shift and click left button, the monsters have certain skills to break your defence, not just your hitpoint. Beside, redesign the AI for different monsters, when they mix together they become very powerful yet tricky, you will need to find a way to bring them down even you have a set of high end gears. I think Dragon Age has done a good job on this.
Blizzard will set a new standard for Hack and Slash game if they could create new experience when fighting monster.
What you think of the way of fighting scene or mechanism should be?
Some BGM in Diablo 2 is truely epic, like the "wilderness" by Matt Uelmen, he is a talented composer.
The creepy theme makes me thrill, you don't need too many elements, sometimes only a Guitar will do.

Diablo 3 will definitely support wide screen.
