I remember when I first played hardcore mode and a party of lowbies battled our way through act 1 and 2 then Duriel ended up killing more the half of everyone. I think only 2-3 outa 8 survived.
He's just so random and probably the scariest of the D2 bosses.

They should make some of the NPCs join you in quests and fight. Like Natalya can come with you and ninja things! ;/ Or you run into them in the wilderness or something. Like her, a lot of the NPCs in D2 were fighters and never really do anything interesting. They should return and have more spotlight of some sort.

That 'druid' picture I seen when diablo 3 info was released, because it's in the art trailer. I REALLY hope it actually is a druid and shapeshifts into wolf still. "Paladin" picture looks more like an enemy then a paladin. ;/ Unless Paladins look evil now.

Hell, they should just make a class that uses bunnies, deer, hamsters, frogs, baby pandas, newts, kittens, little puppies and etc as weapons.
Crittermancer
Weapon: Critter Crossbow; requires kittens, bunnies or puppies for ammo, bought from Pet Store NPC.
Basic attack- fires critters that stick to enemy, biting them causing damage over time before poofing or being knocked off.
Critters aren't just physical damage but deal additional 'meat' damage. (So Meat Resistance is added to character screen)
Multishot; Fires multiple critters.
Rapid shot; Fires rapidly, duh.
Homing Critter; Causes fired critter to seek target.
Unfortunate Critter; Fires critter that explodes on impact. Fire elemental damage.
Frozen Meat; Fires critter that shatters on impact causing shards to spread dealing additional ice damage, as well as physical and meat damage.
Jumping Flash; Fires a speeding thunder imbued critter that pierces thrue enemies and explodes into a fine black mist. Lightning Elemental damage.
-Bunnie shield; "Summons a shield of bunnies that spin around you and absorb damage"
-Kitten blast; "Fires a kitten projectile that slams into enemy, knocking them backwards."
-Puppy Enhancement; "Summons a magic puppy that urinates on your clothing, enhancing your defense and fire resistance."
-Bambibomb; "Summons a Deer that draws enemies attention and explodes when struck."
-Frog Rain; "Rains frogs from the sky that land on enemies and hop around, confusing them and causing them to strike eachother."
-Conjure Panda; "Summons a Panda that sneezes on enemies, causing fear and poison."
-Hamster Dance; "Summons a hamster that dances around, raising party's attack and speed."
-Newter; "Summons a tiny newt that crawls around and occasionally dissapears into rivers or up trees. Unknown use.
-Bunnie snare; "Creates a swarm of bunnies that cling to enemies, slowing their movement and attack speed.
-Die in a fire; "Summons a bunny that burst into flames and runs around enemies, spreading the fire till it dies. (kind of like blaze skill)
-Happyfeet; "Summons a tiny penguin that scampers around pecking annoyingly at enemies. (Like Druid's ravens)
-Volcanic Bunnies; "Creates a fissure in the ground beneath enemy that spews up bunnies like a volcano, damaging enemies."
-Bunnie Armageddon; "Rains flamming bunnies from the sky that explode on impact, causing corpse explosion on any nearby corpses."
-Retarded Animal babies; "Summons a handful random critters that attack anything at random, including themselves."
-Shoulder Kitten; "Summons a kitten that sits on your shoulder and purrs adding additional attack rating and critical hit %."
Yeah, I have too much time on my hands. ;/

Big meaty expansions
with 5+ new classes and 100 new areas and 1000 new quests!

i know this is off-topic, but where did you get the sig? i see it all the time and it's freaking awesome.
Btw, not sure who that's targeted to but if its mine, all I did was write on it in paint. Gives it a choppy, crude kind of charm.
If they add werewolves I hope I can eat bunnies as one.

I wanna pick my char's age so I can play as a small wimpy 8 year old barbarian that smashes down walls and splatters enemies with brute force. XD
and back when I first played Diablo 1, the butcher really creeped me out ;/ lol
As for children NPCs, and how seeing dead children would add emotion and whatever. When it came to Wirt I really didn't care at all that he died He was annoying.

Set items are always fun, especially Trang-Oul set since it was the most unique one. It not only turned you into a 'vampire' enemy, but gave you the 3 sorceress skills the enemy uses.
I'd love it they added tons more cool set items that changed you into something or some kind of special effect, other then the gold glow most do in D2. Maybe even sets that added skills you couldn't learn otherwise.
Would also be cool if you could customize your own combination with Set jewels or something~ that add effects when ones of same set are attached to any of your equipment.
Need more item customization. ^.^
