you want us to prove us wrong yet you offer no substantial evidence to support your argument. THE GAME IS NOT OUT. Beta isn't even remotely close to providing a measure for how difficult inferno mode will be. You are making assumptions with so little to go on that it is laughable.
Wait for the game to be out and to actually play the class before you start claiming certain builds aren't viable.
I know you must be bored waiting but you need to stop being stupid.
troll much? the entire website is speculation there genius. its something to consider and talk about. considering it seems very likely considering the knowledge we do have. you could repost that exact thing on every thread on here, your so smart and the voice of reason for adding no additional information to this subject! /clap
get.... the fuck..... out of here...... Someone fell off his high horse and is proceeding to make a total ass of himself again.
if the zombie wall gets longer with rune on release. i will obviously feel beaten and dumb.
if the zombie wall doubles in width... like it says... lolol. im going to make you all eat your words, so block me now if you dont want it rubbed in your face, feel free to rub it in mine if your right on release.
Wow.....so not only have you just admitted you might be wrong, which is all anyone ever said...you could be wrong, but you've just shown yourself to be a bit of a douche.....
If monsters can pass through or not, the slow rune is still useful and even quite flavorful. Yes, we are supposed to be OP, but I doubt wall will be. They've already announced ranged-killing 'mortar' elites and there will obviously be teleporting, flying, and burrowing units.
If you look at the video which is posted earlier in the thread.

One of the very last gets through it before he gets his head crushed. It doesn't block him from getting through.
I'm quite sure I'll be playing a non-pet build for inferno. My barbarian will make it through hardcore with its reckless type of build and so will a damn non-pet Witch Doctor.
I feel a bit sad reading D3Manic2012 posts. The insults. There is no reason for this type of behavior while just discussing builds. Cheer up and enjoy the discussion.
I noticed that too, but if may also just be an animation issue. Chances are the models do not clip once there are considered dead
I thought about that as well after seeing the barbs moon physics I thought it was just a dead body floating through. So I watched it several of times and you can clearly hear the "smashing body" sound as it passed the wall.
@Straightup
Didn't consider that. ^^
there is definitely something glitchy about that body getting through though, it's on the far side, then suddenly on the near side as the death animation is happening

Could we please drop the argument about width vs length <_<?
I would except it is actually quite important to the discussion because we have to speculate on the utilities of the WD's abilities because understanding the functionality helps us make educated guesses as to how builds will actually play out in-game instead of broadly stating that the only good strategy is using pets because the WD lacks utility.
the picture i showed you is looking at it from two angles, and still it is the width. again you and the rest of the 8th graders need to learn what width is because it is FAR from relative to a wall. your just recycling the same info that ive already disproved. honestly your arguing just to argue, you dont REALLY believe that do you? if someone asked you what the width was of a wall. 'idk that term is relative' would be your reponse? rofl
http://thinkmath.edc.org/index.php/Length,_width,_height,_depth
You are using obscenely narrow definitions for these words. If you were to refer to the longest side of the wall as the length, then yes, the shorter side would be the width, but if you were to refer to longer side as the width, then the shorter side would be the depth, it is completely relative and you have to understand that. With that in mind, further understanding of zombie wall and it's rune require some speculation AKA 'common sense.' Based on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT0YEsj249M, nothing can pass through the wall(unless they can attack and break it) and, as such, increasing the depth of the wall would have very little effect even if they could break through, so I am assuming that the wall will double the length of it's longest side. YUMMY EVIDENCE YOU LOVE EVIDENCE DON'T YOU D3MANIAC!?!?!
- 2 DOTs: one runed for longer duration and one to return HP
- 1 direct DMG with a DOT (on the ground) for additional dmg
- 2 CCs: Horrify with longer duration and Mass Confusion with reduced CD (Mass Confusion also deals dmg because the enemies attack each other)
- 1 Escape Tool: Runed for longer duration
The idea is to DOT your enemies and then start to CC them or go into Spirit Walk to avoid dmg. The 2 CCs/Spirit Walk should be enough to completly avoid any dmg (Horrify(20sec CD)->9sec Duration (11sec CD left)->Mass Confusion(28sec CD)->8sec duration (20sec CD on Confusion, 3sec on Horrify)-> recast your DOTs again-> Horrify again. You still have your Spirit Walk left if you need an escape.
THANK YOU! first person to reply exactly how they should of in the first place.
it looks decent. but what if your dealing with a small room with waves coming at you? if both your CC spells and spirit walk are on CD, what then? this is the problem im seeing with no pets, once your CC's are on CD unless your killing super fast your taking way too much dmg as a WD. yes life regen helps alot but enough to outlast damage from inferno monsters?
Ok. Small room has some advantages e.g. the enemies will very likely stay inside your acid pools and its easier to hit them all with Horrify/Confusion and some disadvantages e.g. the enemies are much closer to you and need less time to get in your face.
About the waves, lets assume you get into the room and meet wave 1 -> DOT -> Horrify now two things can happen during the 9sec of Horrify, your DOTs do enough dmg to kill the first wave (I doubt that) or you have to use Mass Confusion to deal with them. Mass Confusion runs for an other 8sec. During this 8sec again 2 things could happen, the first wave dies to your dots or they dont die and the 2nd wave shows up. If the 2nd wave shows up you have the confused enemies as a meatshield (I assume the confused enemies will also be attacked by the 2nd wave? not sure how mass confusion works). So you either have 3sec CD left on Horrify without a 2nd Wave there or you have 2 waves at your arse with 11-3sec CD on Horrify. Depeding on the situation you would DOT the new enemies and then use spirit walk to get away from them (and stay safe). This should allow your Horrify to come of CD. If that is not enough time... well I guess you have to run for a while
Also I guess all 3 CCs being on the is very unlikely... but it could happen. Then again if you are in Inferno you should probably play safe... so runing to the next group without CCs is something you should avoid (if you know you need the CCs to survive the group).
You will be oom constantly with that build, no mana pots in d3.
dude, take a step back and a long breath and ditch this whole 'common sense' thing. You have so convinced yourself that everything you have thought is true that you are not being open to other's opinions.

width (wɪdθ)
—n
1. the linear extent or measurement of something from side to side, usually being the shortest dimension or (for something fixed) the shortest horizontal dimension
2. the state or fact of being wide
3. a piece or section of something at its full extent from side to side: a width of cloth
4. the distance across a rectangular swimming bath, as opposed to its length
So did you notice the key word? English is a pretty flexible language
Did you not look at the build I posted? It's not THAT different. YOU are speculating that zombie wall is the most absurdly awkward ability in the game, speculating that CC will be functianal in inferno, speculating that you will need that much CC in inferno, speculating that monsters can walk through walls(lol,) speculating that WDs can't fun inferno without pets, speculating... fuck it, read the FIRST PARAGRAPH YOU WROTE
"So I've used the skill calc literally hundreds of times, making hundreds of builds for every single class, and from what i can tell the ONLY real viable end-game builds for the WD soloing 100% require pets, especially if you haven't super massed defense gear. honestly just because blizzard talks about all viable builds doesn't mean EVERY build possible for every class is viable in end game without 1-2 spells that are a must. although this "bla bla skill is a must for inferno" i have only found to be true for the WD. sure norm - hell(doubtful) you might be able to get away with no pets, but inferno? good luck, you'll be one shotted instantly and constantly fleeing rotating CC's while not doing much dmg, so yes the WD survivability in later difficulties is almost entirely based upon having AT LEAST 1 summon to help him kite around. IMO (unless you can somehow prove otherwise)"
PURE SPECULATION! You are claiming that you found the ONLY build, speculating that you need pets, speculating on gear, speculating that not many builds will be viable, speculating that you will get oneshotted by everything, speculating that the WD can't kite, speculating that kiting requires pets. THEN YOU ADD IMO! YOUR OPINION! I seriously cannot facepalm any harder whilst keeping my skull in tact.

oh and someone mentioned that the runes on the calculator are lvl 4, ty very much, i thought they was nerfing my favorite WD spell, alabaster Haunt
