Personally I'm hoping for EXACTLY what your second idea is: killing more rare/champ packs increases your MF *for the boss in that area.* It gives us an incentive to still kill bosses, but playing through the WHOLE area is the "best" strategy.
I hope for this. I was seriously thinking have having a character slot that I would reroll just to kill all the bosses again to get the quest loot. After killing the last boss on inferno, move all the items out of character, delete, rinse and repeat.
Saves me from rerolling all the time.
Your plan was to delete your toons and re-level all the way to 60 just for the slightly increased chance to get 1 rare from a boss?
ROFL!! Thats like the worst plan in history....
Not my original chars. But once i started on the 6th char yeah. We all know that rushing a char will become fairly quick at some point. In D2, some said they could do it in hours. Normally took me over a day if I was just joining pugs. Plus I don't think you know anymore than I do how many rares an inferno boss will drop or the drop percentage for really good items on said bosses would be. I still wish the bosses drop the best loot, but I would like some system to avoid the boss runs as all we do. I like the OP's second idea. Two Things about rerolling: first is gear you get for rerolling would get better with every reroll and second, its not like you would have to only play your rerolled character. It would be something to do if you were bored with farming. Just leveling for fun if you are not rushing and the leveling would have a goal of inferno bosses. So time is not wasted. This was exactly how I successfully farmed SOJ's. Rushing character to kill nightmare andarial, delete, rinse and repeat. The percentage of chance the SOJ dropped on quest loot vs normal rush was like thousands of rushes difference. On quest, the SOJ was like 1 in 300 something, in just any other andarial run, 1 in 3000 something. I still tend to think the boss quests, have the highest percentage of dropping really rare items. Because of that, I think rerolling will be a viable way to farm for gear.
