It's not the bright colors that are makling the mood of Diablo3 childish.
It's the lack of light radius (already said).
The lack of corpses. When you kill a monster, all the blood and corpse dissapears. It takes away the mood of a battle, and when you see it disappearing, the dark/gothic/chaotic feel dissapears also.
The strong resemblense to WoW. It looks like all the game was taken away from WoW. Characters, feel (disapearing blood and corpse), light, and ultimatly, the colors.
Of course big monsters and destructive areas are fun, but it vanishes after playing a while.
Leave the huge monsters to Serious Sam, and the destructive scenarios to God of War. Diablo doens't need that, that much! Diablo only needs it's atmosphere, because we ALL know the game is going to be well balanced, have a great history and itens. We believe on Blizzard on doing that. But we don't beleive on WoW people making a Diablo game.
