Hi there, I am Diablo 3 player since "vanilla" as you guys like to say it. I always loved that game, even after all the changes (I'm not that guy, who read every single digit on every single skill and weapon, although I've made it to top 100 monks in season 3 in Europe). It is beautiful, enjoyable, you can lay back and play the game uncounsciously while listeting to your favourite music. But to the point, for last 2 years all of us were expecting new Diablo 3 expansion, with new class, new act etc. but we got nothing beside new season thing and patches with new items and skill changes every new season to keep us enjoying the game. This year, before Blizzcon there were lots of rumours about new expansions, patches or even Diablo 4 development. We also had big annoucements about "diablo killers" as people used to call it, that's "Lost Ark" and "Linage Eternal". Both of them still not out, and both of them have a long way to be released but I think that's the reason while Blizzard resists from working on Diablo 3 atm. They don't want to pump money into game that may soon become less popular due to release of said games. I tihnk they are just waiting for the events to unfold and want to be prepared to "attack" with new title, or something like World of Diablo or Diablo Online or whatever. What do you guys think ?
I don't see your point. Diablo got more updates in the last 6 months thas WoW. A new exp would be nice but Blizzard has not stoped to work on D3, adding items, creating build possibilities, adding new systems and deploying new landscapes and mobs.
its diablo's 20th anniversary this year, expect an expansion announcement at some point later on this year.
i was expecting it last year and was severely let down when i only saw 1 panel for D3 at blizzcon, then i learned 2015 was 19yrs for the diablo franchise and am assuming they were waiting for this year (20th anniversary) to do something big with it.
also a second d3 expansion was on that blizzard product slate that was released some years ago now and it has been accurate up to this point so, theres my tin foil positive hat for you.
I think that we could see the size of patches pulled back on in the future unless they are releasing content that is going to monetize the game. Microtransactions will fuel to their revenue pipeline and allow for them to continue to develop large patches. I also think that the next big thing that blizzard will work on is a mobile game and I think the diablo franchise could port over into that format in some sort of casual form. It might not be D4, but it could be an off-shoot of the franchise.
I have been hoping for an expantion to this game for a long time mainly to finish the god damn. as with reaper of souls it just ends abruptly (atleast to me)
and the last line of the prophecy is not fulfilled " as Fate lies shattered forever. " itheriael is very much alive and sane. But that line could also mean that itherael has not more controll over the nephelems fate, hence the scroll of fate is "shattered". But that would be a lame end. So just to be able to finish of the story an expantion would be welcome.
With one they could possibly retweak the whole damage number system ( yes it's out of hand ) to scale it back and make it more sane, Scale back the game speed some ( yes, this has also gotten out of hand ).
Adding a new act, class, follower, artistan could also be done trought an expantion.
But with the current passing and patch content, it seems more likley that they will add/tweak a feature, tweak some legendaries/sets. for as long as people still holds interrest in the game.
So Yes blizzard is spending both time and money on the game still be it in major patches or expantions this game recieves love.
